Actually, from personal observation, it is when the MSM is ramping up the fear about the economy that the economy actually does pretty darn good.
When the MSM plays the official line, says everything is great, couple bumps in the road, nothing that worrying, we end up with what happened in 2008.
This is true of so many things. Swine flu, media hypes it to the moon, little to no impact whatsoever. The threat of further terror attacks, uhm...
haven't happened. Huricane Irene. The horrors of a credit downgrade.
But look at what they have pooh-poohed or quickly buried... Fukushima,
Deepwater, inflation, all manner of physical ailments caused by GMO corn, soybeans, and all the chemical CRAP we ingest daily. THESE scare the hell
out of me largely because they don't get mentioned by a media outlet I distrust more than the devil, himself.
Not saying Celente is off base. Just saying anybody who hopes the US economy will go up better hope the media starts talking about it like its on its
last legs.
(I have a theory on the reason for this, btw. I believe the media is compliant with the government in matters of pending doom. They intentionally
talk a much bigger game in regards to issues that are expected by TPTB to not be all that bad. Then, after the media has hyped the doom to the moon
and no armageddon has come to pass, the media can chuckle to the viewers and say "See, all the doomsayers were wrong. Life is so wonderfull, just as
dear leaders promised everything would be.")
