My response to a critique of this post on facebook:
Earthquakes are increasing, they have been steadily for at least the 4-5 years, I have been watching with interest. But the argument that it is
because of these "alignments" is a classic argument of correlation. I actually looked up the term "arguments from correlation", and the website I
found offered an example about earthquakes lol
"Earthquakes in the Andes were correlated with the closest approaches of the planet Uranus. Therefore, Uranus must have caused them.
When sales of hot chocolate go up, street crime drops. Does this correlation mean that hot chocolate prevents crime ? No, it means that fewer people
are on the streets when the weather is cold.
The bigger a child's shoe size, the better the child's handwriting. Does having big feet make it easier to write ? No, it means the child is older.
"
You get the point.
The main thing is that if any of this were true the last worry you should have right now is earthquakes, because if a super massive object was where
Elenin is right now, the earth would be spinning out of contro!!!! Our 365 day calendars will all be obsolete, and have to be replaced with something
like 1023 day calenders.

To me this is the biggest way to know that everyone is wrong, I.E that its physically impossible. Any attempt to refute this ends up refuting the
orignial premise that alignments are causeing gravitational problems. (thank you 2012 theories)
About the girl in the video. [referring the the viral video where the person "predicted the Japan quake] First of all she starts out by claiming that
the small degree pole shift that Michio was talking about, CAUSED the earthquake in Chile!!! That should tell you a little about her understanding of
whats going on here, that is not much. The earthquake caused the pole shift, but if its the other way around!
The bottom line the alignments are basically eyeballing it, they are not actually matches
She's actually off by ~5 days. Taking into account that the Sun/Elenin angle changes by over 1 degree per day, she's also off by ~6 degrees. I mean,
if there was indeed a magic angle, the earthquake would happen at 170 degrees, not at 176.
Rephrasing to proper terminology, her claim is that there is a magic angle between comet Elenin and the Sun which causes earthquakes. Let's use the
ephemeris calculation software to calculate the Sun-Elenin angle for some dates of interest. First the Chile quake (2010/2/17):
2010/2/16 12:00:00 168:48:08.6
2010/2/17 12:00:00 169:56:44.5
2010/2/18 12:00:00 171:05:21.1
So the magic angle seems to be 170 deg. or thereabouts. Okay, let's now look at March 2011:
2011/3/1 12:00:00 163:01:07.0
2011/3/2 12:00:00 164:16:37.0
2011/3/3 12:00:00 165:32:23.6
2011/3/4 12:00:00 166:48:25.5
2011/3/5 12:00:00 168:04:41.1
2011/3/6 12:00:00 169:21:07.9
