World's Largest 4D Light Show

Moscow marks 864th b-day

yay 4D brainwashing to a neighbourhood near you
, this makes me believe project bluebeam could be a possible event in the future.

Imagine what they could do on a cloudy night

Any link where I can get more info?

And, how is this 4D? Did you call it 4D or do the organizers call it 4D?

Don't you think the people who see the "fake alien invasion" might not look up and say, "Hey, that looks like the Opera with dragons that I saw projected onto Moscow State University!"

No?

Maybe it would look more like the giant iPod seen in the video. iUFO?

4D ? are you kiddng me ?

we can't even simulate 4D on a computer let alone this ...

Yes, you can.

Here's just one example, among others.

www.superliminal.com...

By the way, there is no Project Bluebeam, nor has there ever been a Project Bluebeam.

It was made up by someone who cant stand the fact that humans just might not be the most important thing in the Universe.

Thats not 4D ... there are plenty of videos on youtube that claim the same thing ....

you can't see 4D from a 3D prespective ... if you could then we could tap into the 5D 6D 7D etc...

please try again...

Exactly, I always find it weird when people claim something is 4D.

There are however, some instances where you can say something is 4D. For example, in my profession, working with geographic data, the fourth dimension usually refers to time. In this case, the 4th dimension is defined and besides, it's mostly a vocabulary thing.

However, in projection, you cannot say something is 4D when the 4th dimension isn't even defined. If anything, you could argue that it is only 2D since it is projected on a (mostly) flat surface. In fact, any 3D graphics, projected on a flat screen is technically, 2D.

To be 4D, in the context of computer graphics, it would have to be a measurable characteristic of an object which is not length, height or depth. My imagination is incapable of visualizing this.

All the calculalations are done internally within the program in 4D, then projected onto a virtual 3D screen and then projected onto 2D, therefore, as far as the computer program is concerned, it is 4D. The sourcecode is available for anyone to look at.

There's also research being done into using 4-dimensional lightfields for image processing and 3D displays.

Actually as I stated in the post above for that program above, the 4th dimension is defined.

How is it defined? You only said that the calculations are done in 4D, what does that mean? What is the 4th dimension in this case?

"All the calculalations are done internally within the program in 4D"

lool is that right ? true 4d? or what we precieve as "4D"?

What good is the program if the programmer is blind to 4D?

false positive much?

You wanna see my calculations for unicorns ?

I can enter the calculations within a program onto a virtual 3d screen then project into 2D and call it reality ?

those calculations entered into the computer will only produce what its programmed too ... a 3d object in 2d screen with the title of 3d ....

pusedo-science not real science...

its good for youtube vids and people who want to learn

but please don't insult my intelligence with such claims ...

how about this ??

Ok, after some research, I've found out more about 4D lighting.

It seems that 4D lighting is the process of lighting up a scene, virtual or real, using light fields. A light field is "a four dimensional function representing radiance along rays as a function of position and direction in space." Basically, this is saying that the lighting effect is achieved as a function of 4 parameters.

Though it is correct to call it 4D lighting, my opinion is that when you advertise something as a 4D light show or a 4D cinema, it is misleading to the general public. They simply accept it as an addition to the familiar 3D physical world we live in without understanding the implication. It is only a lighting technique, it is not a revolution of our physical reality. In fact, Michael Faraday, in 1846, first proposed that light should be treated as a light field and this is what is being adapted to computer graphics today.

(Levoy M et al., 2008, Recording and controlling the 4D light field in a microscope using microlens arrays, Journal of Microscopy, Vol 235, pp 144-162) (Source)

Well, '___' induced visions of colors beyond 3D from a guy that's been to raves? I'll take that over any rational explanations. What you have seen is not colors beyond 3D, it's hallucinations. Trust me.

4D Lighting is a process which allows a more realistic lighting effect. It has nothing to do with 4th density or whatever that may be.
