Hello,

This is my first post...I've regularly viewed these forums, but had no reason to post until now.
Living in the DC area, I've been monitoring the geological activity in the are ever since the big quake in Mineral, VA.
Please note that I am not a geologist, I'm in fact a computer system administrator.

I've noticed something interesting today I would like to share with you all.

In case you didn't know, the Mineral, VA area is still experiencing tremors since the large quake.

What is even more interesting, is that some smaller quakes are being detected near the West Virginia/Ohio border.

Here is a summary of the quakes from the last seven days, from earthquake.usgs.gov...

While this in itself is interesting, what is more interesting is the path between these two earthquake centers crosses directly over Mole Hill, VA which I have marked in yellow on the map below.

UPDATE: Added second volcano near path between the two sites. "Trimble Knob" in purple.

What is Mole Hill, VA?

Per Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org...

Mole Hill, located west of Harrisonburg, VA, in Rockingham County, is a rounded hill composed of basalt, a volcanic rock, of Eocene (early Tertiary) age. It is the eroded remnant of what was an active volcano approximately 47 million years ago, making it one of the youngest volcanos on the east coast of North America.

Trimble Knob: en.wikipedia.org...

Trimble Knob, located southwest of Monterey, VA, in Highland County, is a conical hill composed of basalt, a volcanic rock, of Eocene (early Tertiary) age. It is the eroded remnant of what was an active volcano or diatreme approximately 35 million years ago, making it one of the youngest volcanos on the east coast of North America.

This is quite an interesting coincidence, don't you think?

Is it possible that these two earthquake centers are the prelude to volcanic activity on the east coast of the US?

I see that a mod has not gotten to you yet. Introductions is just for introductions and no other subject matter. On ATS...you are not allowed to create a thread until you have 20 posts.

I find what you have to say interesting...just be warned.

I've updated to add a second volcano which is very near to the path between the two earthquake centers.

With regards to the above post about this getting deleted, I would really hope not. Should this be in the wrong forum, PLEASE move it somewhere so it can be discussed further. I only posted here because I have no ability to post elsewhere.
