Domino's Japan Claims It Wants to Open a Branch on the Moon

mashable.com

Domino’s Japan is boldly going where no fast food chain has gone before: the moon.

That’s the premise, anyway, of a new site the chain has introduced. The site features a video of the chain’s Japan President and CEO Scott K. Oelkers in a space suit speaking (mostly) in English with Japanese subtitles. Oelkers explains in deadpan fashion that the chain plans to open a branch on the moon. “Perhaps you think we’re foolish to take on such a challenge and perhaps we are foolish,” he says. “It takes courage to accept a challenge to make your dreams come true.”

So I'm a little upset here. Now that Dominos is opening up a moon branch for their pizzas, I am worried the prices are going to go up.

I bought one of their pizzas a couple weeks ago and it seemed like it was already $10 more than all the other pizza places... Is that why? Because they were saving up to build a Dominos on the moon? I guess so.

Another thing... when they do open it up. I want to know, can I order Moon pizza from Earth, or do I have to go to the Moon to get Moon Pizza....

Location, location, location.

Maybe ETs are ordering pizzas now? Or else delivery charge is going to be quite large.

Actually, I hadn't noticed that when searching but the forums do allow for two posts for a subject when one is in breaking news....

I find this information you have shared....very interesting and humorous....but I am also thinking what is it... that some business men know...(that perhaps us common folk) have not been told (exactly) as yet. With Richard Branson and (Virgin Galactic planning on space flights for anyone who can pay) and Russia Planning on building a space hotel and now in Japan they are talking about building a Domino's on the moon..........well folks it looks as though there are some that know...the above will someday be our everyday reality.

Dominos really know what to focus on. I mean the general public will be occupying the moon and have a civilization built there in the next year or two.

I'm surprised maccas haven't already started naming their burgers after the moon.

Can i get a large double mcLuna with extra moon fries?

/sarcasm off

But in all seriousness, NASA has just announced its considering growing its on food on Mars for future astronauts, and now dominos want to put food on the moon?

Another boring joke? NASA has not gone to the moon for forty years and counting, but dominos pizza wants to build a business there? Are they going to feed the greys and reptillians? Certainly NO HUMANS to feed!

While I am pretty sure (Quite positive) that this is all a PR stunt (A good one at that) I must say, that the first thing I thought of was Branson and his space dreams. Although, he hasn't come close to what he has promised over the years.

Apparently space isn't the easiest place to get to, no matter the rhetoric from NASA detractors....

There is no way that this is cost effective...

I was thinking that too. I read recently an article about NASA talking about the new Apollo 18 film, and how its an impossibility, because of the required amount of money and personnel.

So that being said, transport, customers, money, man power and time are all non-existent here, essentially making this an absurd thing make public. While it's a cool idea, the way we know space travel to be in mainstream society, this would not be possible for many, many, MANY years.

If anything it's a publicity stunt.

Have you seen what Dominos charges for their pizzas,
I'm surprised they haven't gone intergalactic by now...

japan will be uninhabitable soon,

so i dont think dominos are going to be the last to leave...

i have a funny feeling we are going to see the whole of japan relocating soon...

dominos are just getting a headstart...

imho

Might as well.

Can't eat the pizza from Japan anymore. Sad but true.

But why does it have to be Dominoes? Mankind can do much better than that.

Yeah but will they deliver?

Pizza Hut has already delivered to the International Space Station.
