I would give up now if i were you

It is (quite) literally impossible to crack the AES cipher, at least with todays computers.

If you were to attempt a brute force attack on an AES-256 key, with all ASCII combinations (a-z, A-Z, 0-9, @[][]#£$^*&... etc) it would take longer than the current age of the universe.

This chart shows the total combinations needed to guess for a password key that is 6,7 or 8 characters in length using only a lower case selection of a-z:

Read the Q&A section on this page, and you'll get the idea of how impossible it is lol:
www.dekart.com...

Not that it matters, but the USAF does have a series of super computers able to crack AES 256.. My guess is it's used to crack encrypted files from other countries, but who knows. Interesting to think that the iPad touch and GHz processors existed under different names in the 1970's. Going on my 7th year as a tech and I cannot even begin to wrap my head around what exists behind the curtain today... It sure would be neat to know.

I wouldn't be surprised if they could, after all... people do say AES was approved by the NSA as a secure algorithm (for military use etc) because they had probably found a weakness in it. If there is a huge flaw in the way keys are handled that the NSA knows about, it would reduce the total time needed by a hell of alot.

edit:
Reminds me about that one rumour of "insurance.aes256" hosted on wikileaks site, people have mentioned it could be a dead-mans-switch. Supposedly if anyone were to easily decrypt the file, there could be a way of alerting somebody somewhere, that the file had been cracked... thus proving someone has the ability to crack AES-256 keys at any given moment.

just a warning:-
1. when you download a torrent, especially of this nature, you can be and will be tracked = added to DHS list

2. if it's not the CIA running the operation, mirroring the site, makes you a terrorist in the eye's of new U.S regulations and a threat to national security, hope you like driving everywhere!

3. the insurance file could end up being one of the best kept sercrets, that no anti-virus software ever detects, ever.

4. seeding the archive could also put you in deep very deep water with regards to threat to national security = always literal life sentence or possibly death row.

always use third hand delivery and pray it ain't got the best ever written virus embedded. dont wanna sound like your father, but curiousity of this nature could land you in deeper water than you ever imagined and if you have a family you love, let others take the risk.

Not all is garbage, most of the information is actually pure politics involving US ambassadors, and a lot of it is sensitive to many gov and the persons involved and these are usually classified or secret.

If you don't have the time to read it all then just keep reading the local newspapers.

Anyway, I'll keep checking back but I have to be honest, any other Wikileaks cable release I've read the last 2-3 years hasn't amazed me with the contents at all.

Sure, the "Collateral Murder" video shocked me when that was released but apart from that, I haven't heard or read anything in other released cables that had any effect whatsoever on the world at large or even small portions of it. Kinda like seeing a trailer for a movie, getting excited for it based on the teasing shots within then you go and see it and it's 90 minutes of boredom, crap and pointlessness.

ok i am really wondering what is on this file. i also have a few questions about it.

is there any way to have some one download something on there computer that will allow a third party to use that computer to help mirror or host a portion of a web site? just wondering if there is an ulterior motive behind they little releases they are doing. if there is another reason to have people down load this and open it, what would be the implications of this on a computer?

now back to reading this thread

Can you be more specific?

Yerp, as I said nothing that has done a thing to bring about one bit of change thus far. Release the good stuff or stop wasting our time wikileaks.

A little bird told me:

The password for the original insurance file is: ACollectionOfDiplomaticHistorySince_1966_ToThe_PresentDay#
Use aescrypt32 for windows (google it)

aescrypt32 -e -p ACollectionOfDiplomaticHistorySince_1966_ToThe_PresentDay# insurance.aes256

The password was apparently leaked in a book by accident. There is a little more to actually read the content, but I'll leave that for you to figure out.

LOL

still can't believe people actually believe Wikileaks is a CIA operation.

Even if it is, so what? If it leads to the dismantling of the criminal US administration and ends the perpetual war machine, then it doesn't matter who's backing it.

How does that work out?
The CIA, is the government and vice versa, don't tell me you actually believe the official story?

It will never leave to the dismantling of the criminal reptilian us adminstration, its only when people say enough is enough and dismantle it themselves.
Wikileaks, is government run, and is a dis info channel.

Where do you think servers run?
Where do you think the wikileaks servers are hosted?
In some oil rig over in timbuck2?
They're hosted by US servers, IN THE US, funded by the CIA.

Who's backing it is everything, who backs it, is who runs it.
The guy on the Wikileaks board of directors, is an ex NSA/Google exec....yeaaaahh real freedom like huh.

Plus assange looks like a damn fool, he needs to color his hair brown and get a haircut.

Competely and utterly ridicolous post without as much as a sliver of evidence.
Your fantasy world is delusional and damaging.
Care to put forth some evidence that isn't some YT homeproduction video made by others living in the same delusion as yourself?

WL servers are hosted in Sweden and mirrors all over the world.

And what on earth has J.A's looks got to do with anything?

Umm... that's exactly the aim of Wikileaks. It's clear you understand their objective. Bravo!

Why else has Wikileaks made extra effort to partner with mainstream media? Because the message will reach more people. Duh! It will be totally useless if Assange affiliated with someone like Alex Jones.

Lol, being slow is fun huh?
The objective for wikileaks isn't to dismantle anything, it's to keep the ignorant, such as yourself, running around in circles, so we dont end up getting anything done.

It's ridiculous to you, because you have no concept of how the internet, or computing works, explaining anything to someone like you would be a waste of effort, since it would be like trying to teach a monkey physics.

Don't be jaded.
You DO know, if Wikileaks was a threat, the US would hack those just like that right?
Those servers aren't impenetrable, nothing is 100% secure, you mean to tell me the US government has absolutely no money to spend on a team of Black hats who can hack and shut down all those servers who host wikileaks?

Google/NSA exec working for Wikileaks?

Another thing why did assange dismiss 9/11?
Don't tell me to save face?
Coming this far to expose the evil bad US government, yet not admitting to 9/11?

It doesn't matter where they're located in, they can easily be shut down, from anywhere in the globe, let alone by a top assembled team of hackers.
Data that can potentially destroy the government, will never get out, you foolishly underestimate the US government, if what wikileaks even posed a slight threat, it would be taken down just like that, heh, ignorance is bliss huh, must be nice being you.
Garry McKinnon beat NASA....yet the US government is having trouble with a guy with white hair living in god knows where, lol you people really are gullible.

Lol, i love the delusional assange fans, it's a shame none of them know how the internet works tho...then again, if they did, they would be able to see through Wikileaks...so a paradox i guess.

Those who resort to claiming a debater as a troll has seen the vulnerability to their argument and are blame shifting elsewhere, to distract from their own moronic arguments.
I'd say the same for you, except school is where you need to be
, you clearly lack understanding of how the internet works.
