we'll know when it happens when the hellish roar and glow of ascending mushroom clouds rise into the sky...just like the japanese found out,twice and we could have warned them first or showed them a demonstration detonation first,but we did'nt and that is why we will someday get nailed the same way and did you know that there were lots of austrailian,british and american prisoners being held in hiroshima and nagasaki and the usa knew they were there and they still went ahead and killed them anyways...intentional...friendly fire...nuclear murder of our own soldiers!!!

Sorry I did not read every post on this thread. But feel compelled to say something. It is not a new concept. The only way to win a war is to allow your enemy to implode, then go in and sweep up the pieces. In todays world you can go to war and totally destroy your enemy without the use of military. Government financial ruin, population starvation, and utter human desolation can be achieved by undermining a country's authority and ability to take care of its people. My point...Reagan won the cold war by bankrupting the USSR. How...Star Wars and the six hundred ship navy. They couldn't keep up, over spent, didn't take care of the people and the people took care of it. If we (the USA) were an empire building / world dominating entity then we could have made things even worse and they (the former USSR) would have invited us in to "help" them. It has been done in the past. Have you ever seen Hitler riding in his open car after his army marched into the Sudeten Land. They were welcomed. They thought he was there to help.

No......if a war is to be won totally then the people of your enemy have to choose you over their leaders

China just launched what they claim is the first module of their future space research station.I'm thinking massive EMP bomb, explode it over the USA, at that altitude out in space it would destroy Americas ability to defend it selve. GAME OVER..

i find these types of articles more outlandish than the elenin and 2012 senarios. when one thinks of another country nuking or emp-ing (is that a word?!) another county as big as the u.s. or china or russia, one has to also think about what happens afterwards. occupation? just nuke em' and forget about it? go in and rebuild the country? MAD (mutualy assured destruction) still applies in the 21st centuary.

China didn't get to the position it is in today by being stupid!

China knows full well that millitarily they are some way off the US, and they would never provoke a fight with the US unless it was over their sovereign territory or over disputed territories such as Tibet or Taiwan.

Hitler and the Nazis were altogether different.......Hitler believed his forces to be superior to the Russians and he was driven by the pursuit of power and territory.

It is indeed silly season to suggest that China really was planning an unprovoked surprise attack on the US. that should only really be entertained by those who would equally entertain that the US was planning a secret unprovoked attack on China!

The people of the United States think they are superior to everyone else and the people of China think that they are superior to everyone else.

Just like someone who thinks he is the toughest guy in school and pushes everyone around.Untill someone comes along and knocks him down to size and deflates his ego And then gets to be the one who is seen walking around town with the hottest,materialistic,popularity driven girl...

Economic expansion and living space,that china desperately needs,is what creates and drives invasions and conquests...

With our arrogant heads held so high,we won't even see the terrible reality that might be headed our way...

I really don't think China or the US desire a full scale war with one another. From the Chinese side, they can get what they want economically, and if they were a little more patient, that's probably true for their regional countries as well. Once your economy depends on one nation, war becomes a frivolity. From the American side, we have neither the ability or capacity to have any sort of occupational strategy for China, they're a major holder of our debt, and a destablized China would make a mess of all the security arrangements through the Pacific.

The only flashpoint here is Taiwan, and that goes back to Cold War thinking. Truth is, I imagine the United States wouldn't care overwhelmingly if it went back to China where it culturally and economically already belongs. It will happen in time, I expect, and the only thing both sides need to see is that it happens in a measured way. If it doesn't, then the American partners like Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and (ironically, but I expect this by the end) Vietnam will want an escalation, because they realize China could swallow them.

Now, on the global stage, there is the question of energy resources, but I have a hunch the Chinese will be smart. While we're busy gobbling up influence to every petrofuel out there, they'll find other energy sources and it'll all work out better for them in the end.
