NBC is teasing an in-depth interview about Cheney’s new book, In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir, which is being released at the end of August. During George Bush’s entire presidency the question of how much influence and authority VP Dick Cheney was given was always been part of the discussion. Cheney openly disdained rules, conventions and laws, pushing the concept of the Unitary Executive further than Nixon ever dreamed. Was Cheney making all the important policy decisions? Cheney once believed he was highly qualified to be president and threw out a trial balloon in 1996.

Very fascinating. His might be a memoir I'll actually want to read, because unlike most others, I could see him refusing any ghost writers or outside influence due to his insane, egotistical control-freakism

With his egotistical nature, I'm sure that he will let out a few glimpse on the extent of his authority in the White House. He will then verify the rumors that it is him and not Jr who is running the WH during that time.

nothing surprising, i always beleived Cheney would go down in history as the american Rasputin.

the crazed evil doer behind a weak ruler.

Cheney was the "decider"... at least one of them.

While baby bush was in office I was at a weekend bar-b-que with a group of White House staffers.

Their unanimous opinion about Bush: "Dumb as a box of rocks, he does what the people around him tell him to do"

True,it's just that I'm amazed at just how big his ego is that he would come out and declare himself the power behind the throne.
