Topless protest planned for Sunday

In Toronto on Sunday the 28th, there will be a topless protest by women who feel clothing restrictions for women are discriminatory.

Surprisingly, (or not so) even though it is legal for women to bare their chest in Ontario, there is still a negative sentiment about the protest.

TORONTO - Efforts by Toronto officials to force a topless protest to a secluded, nude beach are discriminatory, says one of the organizers. Women have the same right in law as men to go shirtless in public, Diane Brisebois said Friday.

But local Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon, said parks staff denied the requested Ashbridges Bay park permit after debating possible complaints. “There are a lot of families using the beach, from all different cultures,” said McMahon.

It seems the protesters have decided to do a march through Queen St. in downtown Toronto.

News Article Here.

Something I was unaware of....

Go Topless, which holds similar rallies in U.S. cities, is a branch of the Raelians, a group that believes humans were created by space aliens and hold liberal views about sexuality, accepting gays, transsexuals, transgendered people and others, said Brisebois, a 30-year member.

Wow. Good way to get people to join your cult. Attract them with naked women!

Chalk one up for the Raelians.

We've seen these protests before... guys you might want to think twice before you show up to watch.

Try to remember the only women who chose to go topless, are the ones that you don't want to see.

So don't be expecting to see playboy bunnies bouncing down the street.

It will quite the opposite, trust me...

I agree. Perversion is all a mental creation. If women weren't allowed to show the backs of their necks, suddenly the backs of necks would be stimulating for people.

I think if all women began going topless however, an adjustment period would be needed. But the real question is, do we want boobs to be just another part of the body? Or do we like them as the forbidden treats they are? Wonderbra power makes women get just about anything they wish from hapless men, is that something worth giving up?

I did a report on this subject many years ago in college. It was about the fact that if it is hot a woman cannot take her top off like a man can in public or to swim or to feed her baby in comfort and why?
Because you men will behave like dogs! I showed how historically we have been manipulated by the falsely amplified desire of men to the point where many years a woman could not show her erotic ankle! Then there was the years of the erotic elbow...had to be safely hidden or men would jump all over it drooling ha! Then there was the years that a queen in Europe decided to lower her dress bust line below the bosom, so every other woman did and breasts were exposed, dresses were cut to lift the breasts or display them. it became natural to go topless but caused sag :-(
The argument was put forward at the time of my report that the reason for the chest discrimination was that a woman's chest was a sexual part and a mans was not. I proved this was untrue as woman find a naked man chest erotic too we just don't feel we need to treat every shirtless man like a sex object!
All of the "styles" that manipulate woman were created by men, including the bra and girdles and stays that made woman unable to breath or >>talk>>probably the point :-) the high heal so we can walk weird (helpless feminine and needy) is no different then the Chinese foot bindings...will we never truly be free of this garbage!

I'm guessing your major was in Women's Studies/Feminism? Like it or not, Breasts are sexual whereas the ankle, toe or elbow are not. (Please don't use the Burka defence - it is a very weak argument.) It's pretty obvious which parts of the body draw negative attention when exposed and which parts do not. The vast majority of men will not "behave like dogs" or "drool" over any part of a Woman's body besides the obvious (T&A) - and when they do it is usually because women are dressed to encourage this reaction from the opposite sex.

---

OT: I'm sure many of these Women will be crying afterwards because pictures of them nude will appear on the internet and they will feel like sex objects.

No I majored in Geology and earth science..

You are right in today's society, what I am saying is at different periods of time it has been the same with different body parts of woman. ...small example below, during this time a woman could not let her ankle show it was considered sexual and obscene to do so and a man would respond as he does to breasts today.

The wearing of low-cut dresses which exposed breasts were considered more acceptable than they are today; with a woman's bared legs, ankles, or shoulders being considered to be more risqué than exposed breasts.[6] However, in 15th century Agnès Sorel, mistress to Charles VII of France, is credited with starting a fashion when she wore décolleté gowns which fully bared her breasts in the French court. In the 16th century, women's fashions featuring fully exposed breasts were common throughout society, for women of all social statuses.[7] en.wikipedia.org...

That's right about the power we women have over men.
Our armor can bring any man down to his knees with
his tongue dragging the floor.
What is this suit of armor that women wear to control
and manipulate the men?
Wonder bras, black lace teddies, stockings that go all
the way up and high heels with a minimum of a 4" heel.
Ahh,those were the days my friend

Now,it's support stockings, grandma shoes and nightgowns
designed by a tent maker. We won't even discuss the topless
issue,I don't want to be held accountable for blinding someone!

...right... he's gotta have a really nice butt too and a face that doesnt require a bag... personally, the most erotic part of man is his armpits, especially if he's been sweating... kinky, yeah, i know - dont care...

...seriously - - - i agree with your report - but - the standards you mentioned were initially indicative of british / european / white societies.... its debateable if thats due to their pro-misogynistic religions or their crappy weather, lol... sorry - nah, not really, lol...

I think I better understand your position now, thanks for clearing that up. I still don't agree with your original post because it shows ignorance of the differences (physical, physiological and psychological) between man and woman.
