Horror Of Horrors!!

Wow, It is so hard to watch things like that. I have free range chickens, they are like pets, and I love pigs. I wish there was a better way...people need to eat but why does it have to be this way? Why such horrible cruelty to the animals? I don't get it at all.
If it weren't for prison, I would put the owner of the place in a grinder.

Firstly I must say that I am a meat eater, I love it!....chicken, beef, pork, lamb, whatever I love all meat and would never consider becoming a vegetarian/vegan.

From a personal point of view I prefer meat that is raised organically and not factory farmed, not for any particular ethical reason, just because I think it tastes better.

I am however aware that factory farming such as shown in the OP goes on.

I think there is an awful lot of hypocrisy going on in this thread, do any of you "disgusted" members really wonder how the chicken/cow/lamb was killed whilst your ripping it's flesh of it's bones with your teeth?

Look at it this way. If they dont make chicken quick, No one eats.... Mass shortages. Simple.

This is one of the reasons I'm content with being a vegan, I can't handle knowing I'm supporting these cruelties. There will always be cruel people, that have no respect for living creatures and take out their aggressions on the innocent. I believe the over-population in the US is one of the reasons this has gotten out of control, it's very difficult to know where your food comes from anymore, I just don't believe any claims made on the packages. Plus the fact that so many ignore this problem. Ignorance is not an excuse and ignoring the problem is making it worse. I think if everyone at least makes a few conscious efforts, whether it is to eat less animals, be knowledgeable as you can about where your food comes from, report these companies and tell everyone you can, well, any little bit helps.

You know what?....I can understand them being shocked, it's a shocking video!

But unless those same shocked people are going to stop eating meat........then you are correct.....it is hypocrisy.

It's a cruel and nightmarish world that you mentally block each time we eat the flesh or "product" of another species. It is not our right to treat our fellow species as commodities.

The moral rationalization for omnivorous diets is always one variable away from falling apart. That variable is another species being introduced to the food chain but above us. What if the said species were to cull and harvest us? We would be doomed by the logic of our own morality.

Going vegan is easy if you start out with beans, chickpeas, lentils, nuts and flaxseed. Your body metabolizes better. Just avoid the frozen food meat "substitutes" like vegan sausages, burgers, pies, stock and "chicken" and "bacon". They're laden with MSG, synthetic junk and perfumes.

Barbaric cruelty like this can end if there is do demand for it by flesh hungry consumers. We're better than vampires. Our pinnacle on this earth entails us nurturing, developing and coexisting with our fellow species rather than subjecting them to nightmarish slaughterhouses and gruesome deaths. Their pain and suffering just isn't worth the biochemical reaction of taste we momentarily experience. It's greed and arrogance. We are better.

I agree certain techniques are not necessarily correct and it is actually harmful with respect to the final product, nutrition value and possible disease. However I love Chicken and Pork.

Tell the guy in the alaskan wilderness or siberia to become a Vegan.

The Eskimos and other natives have been hunting and eating meat forever. However its the commercialization of the product that breeds to such methods. Meat has always been an alternate source of protein for almost entire regions of the planet.

On the other hand, just because everyone wants to turn Vegans or lean towards a Vegetarian Diet, the industry has to meet the demand and start producing GMC (Genetically Modified Crops) that it has a lot of side effects that will eventually affect the entire human race. What about that? Do you think we can meet the need of 8 plus Billion people on earth just by agriculture or Vegan diet? I seriously doubt it.

However I do agree that some of the methods should be altered.

Those chickens getting killed wouldnt be alive in the first place if it wasnt for the companies.

I Love Chicken ( and fish) The heck with being a Vegan. Not eating meat is NOT the answer. What we need is legislation to ban these farms from killing these males and hurting the hens. While we are at it we could stop them from genetically manipulating the hens to grow so fast and large they cannot walk as is shows in Food INC.

In the long run, ( for the religious) People have souls and they have to answer for these things and then go to HELL. The animals are born for the purpose of us eating them to begin with. It's tragic that many are harmed and killed but they are here for us to eat and we have to eat so Gods plan is still being fulfilled. I'd like to think God takes away their pain.

This has been going on for decades and I am sure lots of people have tried to stop it. They havent been able to so I suppose they never will.

What about the humane society? What about the SPCA? What do those groups have to say about this? Don't they have the legal authority to help stop this?

I didn't watch the video; still, it goes without saying that people indeed have a long way to go and a lot to learn.

Yes, many will say OMG this is horrible then forget about it and go about their daily lives. If people knew what went into the food industry - you wouldn't want to eat.

If you don't like these practices, I guess you should use your wallets to protest. Buy from specific farms that cater to people who don't like industrial practices.

We could have 3 times the amount of people on earth now and still feed everyone till they are FAT. There is no food shortage, there is no such thing as too many people.. it's a myth to control the masses. Truth is we throw away so much otherwise good food each day that a hungry person could eat. It's all about politics. We can feed the world NOW, many times over we just Don't because of politics. That's why they can kill 150 thousand male chicks a day and not bat an eye. Yeah it's in the Fragile Earth section because it shows the decline of humanity and to me, that's the same as a fragile earth.
