Doesn't seem to be as bad as expected?

Or is he not in an area that's particularly badly hit? I'm searching other news sources too ...

Thank you for the link.

Been watching this guy for an hour or so, he’s a bit nuts but on the other hand I’ve never seen a hurricane report quite like this before.

Im not sure if this has already been asked but, would he be still getting correct readings from inside a car using that handheld meter?

Im not familiar with how they work so forgive me if its a stupid question.

I'm in norfolk va. It just stopped raining. Sustained wind is about 20 mph with gusts around 40. Depending on the track it looks like we're in line for a direct hit. I'm about to take a walk through the neighborhood.

We will definitely lose some trees. My worst fear is basement flooding. Just had a nice 50 mph gust.

Wont hit land until 11 am? Are they sure about that? Doesn't look like that according to the radar

I'm actually about 20-30 miles from morehead city myself. It's flooding pretty bad where I'm at, but this storm hasn't seemed to live up to it's hype as of yet. Im getting ready to go take some pictures or video. Not sure if I'll be able to share them over my phone though

Not really, unless he closes all of the vents. Jeeps are well sealed for river crossings, so there could easily be a presure build-up. Whenever he opens the door the pressure will equalize though.

Thanks for the reply.

Im going to assume the difference isnt that great inside/outside the car regarding pressure, unless someone knows different.

just to add, i hate assuming anything.

ETA: Thanks mg333, i posted before getting to your post.
edit on 27/8/2011 by Catch_a_Fire because: added more.

I am working on very little sleep here, been up watching this guy for most of the night. Why does it look like the eye is about to hit land in NC? It would be most interesting if it does give you a direct hit in Norfolk. The quakes that every one is keeping an eye on (including the VA quake and CO) are on the 37 line...Norfolk is 36°51'N

Now I will be very curious to see where it actually makes land fall.
