Hearing set for woman accused of Bosnia war crimes.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — An extradition hearing has been set for Nov. 7 for a Croatian woman who had been living in Kentucky but was charged with murder and torture in Europe related to the unraveling of Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Wier in Lexington said Monday the issues in the case are "coming into sharp focus" and he should have a ruling on whether the extradition warrant for 52-year-old Azra Basic (bah'-sich) should be dismissed before the hearing date.

I think the Balkans war is extremely horrible and i think this should be the last European war of the 20th century. But it's a well fact that the Serbs did start all this Bosnian war first then attacked Bosnia, Slovenia, and Croatia without bother to talk like civilized people.

It's funny that the Serbs were on the allied side during WW2 against the Nazis and in the 1990s Bosnia and Kosovo acted the same way as the Nazis are in WW2.

To be fair, all sides did commit a lot of crimes in Bosnia. Yet what bother me is that the UN peacekeepers were there from 1992-1995 yet did nothing to do stop the massacres.

Ya i agree, try and check out the Bosnian war crimes. Commited by all sides although the Serbs did the killing most.

I can tell you my regt killed 50 odd soldiers from the various factions...evacuated 150 muslims ...came under fire daily from small arms mortar ..tanks ..i can also tell you i witnessed the killing of a croat soldier by my platoon.BRITBAT 1993 1 PWO C COY 8 PLT...get your facts straight a lot of men lost there lives from UN/NATO..so you can sleep soundly in your bed..yeah UN is a joke and hands are tied..but some very good blokes from all countrys..Remember the Europe Vietnam...

No need to get all tidy dude, the UN is a joke and i watched a 1999 British Award-winning series called Warriors (TV series). You can also look for them on youtube.

Really sad though because the UN mandate prevented them from engaging against the ones that are trying to butchered innocent civilians which is why UN peacekeepers watch them. I mean all sides(Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs) committed terrible crimes.

Seriously, i hate the work "peacekeeper" it should be called "watch and observe) keepers. Ya that will work. BTW, this is a thread about a women being charged for crimes during the Bosnian war.

Ah.. I was just noting that lately several people wanted for international crimes have wound up in kentucky.

As people have said the Bosnian conflict was atrocious, i can remember turning on the TV when i was little, and seeing the towns getting shelled constantly.

I also remember seeing a documentary about a certain town in Bosnia, and the Dutch UN forces, and how they called for an air-strike, only for the commanding general filling out the wrong paper work, which meant the much needed air-strike never came, may this situation never happen again within Europe!

Our US government did its fair share in this as well.

I've seen video of cluster bombs used in Kosovo.

This war has been going for as long as the christians and muslims have existed.

Kosovo was a bulwark against muslim invasion for centuries.

I work with several Bosnians and they're some of the hard-working, resilient people I've ever met in my life. I consider it a privilege to work with them.

That being said, I do not understand the the Balkans war enough to develop an opinion on it.

Serbs didnt start the shooting in bosnia, i have some family freinds in Bosnia and elsewhere, the western mainstream media was one sided in the bosnian conflict..

and as typical Croatians would welcome her as homeincoming hero, rather then war criminal.

Let get is straight who ever commits a war crime should be brought to justice..serbs got a bad press by media..all sides in central bosnia and when i went over the border..commited war crimes..Theres good and bad in all..me personally i dont go for the military brain washing anymore..but great people in military still.And great people among all nations..sadly theres the other side of the coin..sex colour blah blah is irrelevant..

Because Serbs started the Bosnian war and committed more crimes than the other. I do agree all side did bad thing no doubt but 45 Serbs, 12 Croats and four Bosniaks. are charged.

Like all conflicts there will always eb the war crimes that went unheeded in the public domain - people that should have been charged and extradited but were not.

For example - the ethnic cleansing of the Krajina province in Croatia by the Croatian military. Krajina being an ethnic serbian populated province,,,,the world turned a blind eye,

I also know of an incident in Croatia at the time in Vukovar, where the Red Cross assisted the Serbian militias in evacuating a hospital and allowing them to seperate the men/boys from the women to be taken to a barn and all were massacred in one massive orgy of machine gun violence.....I beleive only one child survived/escapped.

Nothing ever happened with that either.

Kosovan violence and atrocities continue to this day against anyone non albanian in the area.

US/Nato supported at the time Saudi Arabia of sponsoring and sending in Mujahadeen fighters into Bosnia to fight both the croats and serbs......no one was charged with this either.

The Balkans violence hasn't ended yet.....and the final war in Europe hasnt even begun yet either.

Europe is destined to burn again...its preplanned by those in the shadows....the economic downfall of the Euro bloc is part of that plan and once again, Germany will be made the scapegoat.
