Paul McCartney 1966 and after

I know we would all love to believe that the real Paul died and didn't go on to record all those mediocre solo albums, but unfortunately, he did.

There used to be a poster here who would go on and on about the PID theory. Havent seem them lately.

Its a kooky theory, and I think Paul himself finds it pretty funny.

I just love the argument of denial because we don't understand something. For example we could say "The moon is just the sun gone to sleep because why on Earth would the sun leave us for an entire night?" The problem with such logic is that it depends entirely upon our ignorance. As long as we can maintain that it doesn't make sense because we are clueless, then it can't exist.

By this token another member repeated a common rant, that Paul cannot have been replaced simply because in their narrow minded perspective it couldn't possible serve any known purpose. So therefore even if he looked like a small green alien he would have to be the same original James Paul McCartney. So don't examine his feature or study the incredible structural difference in his facial bones and head shape, forget that he sprang up several inches taller in the space of a few months, don't pay attention to his different proportions and eye color, just remember consistently that HE IS THE SAME PERSON even if you are looking at an entirely different physical body.

My feeling is that this is a conspiracy with hints of a secret over cult. One controling the image of the band. And in that case I look to the creators of cults of personality, not the particular individual cult in question.

I consider The Beatles to be part of the same English publicity machine as Harry Potter.

Just a slight tilting of the head ( forward or backward ) will alter the position of the ears in relation to the rest of the face .

These theories of prominent people being replaced by clones are ludicrous and unsubstantiated .

According to the story surrounding this curious phenomenon, the original Paul died in a car accident. This coincides with the "We're not going to tour" anymore; we're going to be a studio band time frame. In fact, the next time you see them all together playing instruments 'in the flesh' is the famous rooftop concert, in which Paul has a full beard. Curious to me is how Paul goes from shorter than John to taller than John. Platform shoes, anyone?

Very strange stuff if you look at all the circumstantial evidence!

I am a fence-sitter on this one, but I have to agree with you. Those ears are rather peculiar.

In the video Paul's face is viewed from many angles, so it is definitely not the angle of the face that is changing that is creating an illusion.

The supposed "doppelganger's" ears are also more round, and the nose longer and wider.

Unless Paul had surgery to have his nose dropped and his ears lifted, I am moving over to the "absolutely possible" side of the fence now.

Also - "original Paul's" eyes express much more kindness and benevolence in my opinion.

I've always found this certain conspiracy fascinating, and this amongst others is actually the reason I joined up here.

I, however, don't know where to sit, on one hand some of the evidence to suggest Paul died fits. The structure of his face, changing from left handed to right post 1966, the height differences. But on the other hand I also think that maybe the Beatles themselves cashed in on these claims by purposely leading their fans down that path. They were intelligent men, and I think the whole conspiracy itself would have been enough for them all to have sat down and thought 'what a great way to get more sales, let's play along and see how far it can take us'. But then again why? They'd already got the fame and glory.

See, I'm actually arguing with myself now. I'll sit on the fence until Paul or Heather blabs about it.

It is absolutely absurd to suggest Paul died and was replaced in 1966. Afterward, it is the same Paul, same face, same voice, the same amazing, melodic mind and talent. The Beatles intentionally planted seeds for a mystery with the whole Sgt Pepper concept in 1967. They were pretending to be someone else (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) for that album. People intently studied the album's lyrics and artwork. Stories were born, and this whole silly rumor of Paul being dead/replaced came out of that. C'mon. I can't believe any educated Beatles fan would even consider the 'Paul is Dead' theory. Now THAT is a silly conspiracy theory! lol

BTW, here are the reasons the Beatles quit touring...and it isn't because Paul was replaced. Sheesh!

A mate of my dad's used to work for the Beatles and was so trusted and liked, he became known as the second fifth Beatle. Anyway, he said that Paul was used by 'them' as a test to see how convincingly 'they' could infiltrate our society. 'They' knew that if 'they' could convincingly replace one of the most famous people in the world, then 'they' could replace just about anybody and get away with it.

It probably had something to do with John - he was never human and this is even alluded to in Marvel comics (John the Skrull).

No but regardless of the straight on shot if the camera is higher or lower it would change the appearance.

heres the best documentary on this subject. i didn't really believe all the rumors either. until i did some research for myself. the "PAUL" that we all know is fraud. do the research with a open mind.

I really don't think it is. The voice is the clue that its the real paul.

Never really noticed before but the distance between his nose and lip is really a huge difference! Along with the ears I don't see how anyone has missed it? Wow. It doesn't change anything for me about their music. But I'm wowed by the deception's success!

He died, they held a look alike contest in england and replaced him before there were mass suicides of crazed girls and tons of money lost from the band breaking up

The "doppelgänger" has the same voice, the same face and his kid thinks it's him. It is him surely? Is this some kind of screwy game to see how many of us will believe total bollocks?

PID is the most fabulous publicity stunt. Their little hints on recordings and album art, great stuff And look at it making ATS 45 years later!

If Heather Mills had any dirt on this, believe me she would have long cashed in on it.

That said, I haven't made my mind up on this one. My dad is a massive Macca fan and when I suggested this he just looked at me and said ''Do you really believe there could be two people who look eactly like one another and have the exact same talent for writing songs, playing instruments and are left handed?''

John Lennon was a great wordsmith, but there was a time when he despised Macca and The Beatles. I think he would have disclosed if it was for real.

ETA:- Could it not be that Macca had ear surgery in the sixties? The scar on the lip came from a cycling/motorcycle accident I have read previously.

I used to think Paul was dead. My wife first told me about the "clues" in the albums and I was instantly intrigued. I spent over a year researching this, reading on different forums, watching videos on youtube, analyzing photos, keeping an open mind on the subject. I listened to the Beatles constantly, trying to see if Pauls voice changed. I listened to his solo work, and Wings, trying to find out if there were clues there also. Then I tried to do a little of my own analysis. I compared 2 recordings of "Yesterday", on the original, and the other from 1984 on the "Broadstreet" album. Guess what? The spectrum analysis of both vocals was pretty much identical. Then I stumbled upon a photo of Paul and Elvis together...except that photo was faked by a PID'er, as were many others. Then all the people saying his height changed after 1966, and the photos PID'er argued about didn't even show Pauls feet. Let alone a photo I saw of "Faul" in an airport next to Mick Jagger and they were the same height. The whole "long face" vs "round face" has been done to death...I've looked at some early photos of Paul and thought it was "Faul"...

Abby road and Paul has no shoes...well, did you ever see the other photos of that shoot with Paul and he has his sandals on, just like he said on the Letterman show? Look it up. I had a fun time with this, it got me into the Beatles, and Paul McCartney. The whole PID thing just doesn't hold any weight. If anyone has actually read a few books about Paul and the Beatles, who he was hanging around with, and what he was doing and what he was into at the time, you would learn that Paul is still Paul.

I've even compared some youtube videos of paul, side by side of yesterday. The original video and a live Wings concert. Played them both together, and the sync was near identical along with their facial expressions and movements. Sorry, but it's the same guy, I feel sorry for the majority over at the Paul is Dead...Miss him forum...they bash their "Faul" over and over, and can't even see that he is actually their beloved Paul.
