What nations combined or alone, could take on America, in the heartland?

I think we will find out with in two-ish years. But i think that Russia (while they own the monopoly of space) combined with N. Korea would give America trouble. Possible Scenario that could happen, if anyone heard about the plane that America has or developing thats going to circle the world or something to that extent and i heard its armed with nukes, all someone has to do is wait to find the plane and the position its at and wait till its at a effective place over our own soil and send off a EMP device or something to that extent so it crashes in our homeland and then BOOM.. we got nuked by our own nukes we made. probability of happening not likely but anything is possible i guess.. right?

None of them and the reason is this.

(Conventional war w/ no use of "illegal" weapons) -The US Air superiority as well as technological (across the board) is to the point where incoming ships would be sunk before they were in range to even fire. Sure maybe a sub could make it close or some hidden cargo or something like that. I am saying the real technology in lock up and experimental stuff that is just not shown to the public but we all know is there would dominate foreign forces so bad they would flee. Armies smashed ripped and torn really fast.

It's so far one sided it's not even funny and no Canada would not side with the UK, does anyone honestly believe that if the United Kingdom told Canada to attack the US the gun wouldn't be pointed directly back at them with a laugh? Canada and the US share the same love in sports, styles and entertainment. Even Mexico would side with the US based on the amount of them in the US right now, so, no matter what it would be US, Canada and Mexico vs. ________. You may as well think of North America as a single unit.

If the enemy decides to use WMD's and BIO that changes things but they will be subject to it all as well. The heart of America is very very safe from invasion.

coordinated nukes in military bases along with simultaneous hostile take over of police/fed buildings, cyber attacks, inner conflict and resource cuts from china/iraaq/afganistan ect. if chinas numbers were combined with russian technology along with japans unique set of skills were all combined they might have a fighting chance assuming the UN, NATO and european countrys provided no support, but the main factor is american people,theres a % of us who are sitting around waiting for WW3 and are ready, grandtheftauto and COD black ops combined with weed has created a generation of combat ready paranoid as # soldiers with a wide source of info available, not ready to fight for america but to fight for their people, to take the land back when the gov. crumbles, these are the ones who will save our asses in the long run, the real survivors who will live through the end to make a new better future

If the US started committing genocide against its own people, most nations would be in shock and probably afraid the US would come annihilate them if they interfered.

Nations like Russia and China, prefer countries stay out of each others business.

The only nations that would probably raise hell about it would be the rest of NATO, Israel, and Australia.
Its highly unlikely they would intervene, but I'm sure Canada would become a refuge and they would support an "undergound railroad" into it.

The US would have to threaten and actually carry out the threat, say against Canada, to get some kind of military response and even then NATO alone would likely fail to defeat the US. They would have to get help from Russia, India, and China in order to make a serious attempt at pushing the US out of Canada.

In other words, there would be no rescue.

It would take an extremely large force to take on America in the heartland with any form of success. There are many factors that would inhibit their ability to launch a successful attack against us.

First of all it would be extremely hard for any country to manage to successfully infiltrate our defenses to be able to land troops onto our soil. As stated by several previous posters here, any attempt to launch a sea-based attack would be stopped long before they came within range of landing any troops.

Second, giving our air defenses and radar arrays it would also be nearly impossible for any coalition to come close enough to our airspace to drop in any airborne troops. They would be shot down long before they came within range of any possible drop zone. When the movie Red Dawn was released I had several discussions with an uncle of mine that was in Airforce Intelligence about the plan portrayed in the movie as to the Russian attack on the US and their deployment of airborne troops. He said that with our air defenses it would be impossible for anyone to launch such a surprise attack on us.

Finally, and the most important of our defenses is the large standing army that we have in the form of an armed citizenry combined with our military. Even if a nation or coalition of nations were able to sneak enough troops through either our southern or northern border, they would be met by an armed force of combined military and citizens that would number in the tens of millions. Granted, the vast majority of armed civilians do not have the training or equipment of military troops but it would still be an exercise in futility.

I am not going to say that it would never happen, but the likelihood of it happening would be extremely high. I would say that the odds of such an attack actually happening would be astronomical. We would probably have a better chance of every American citizen winning the lottery all on the same weekend than to see this scenario ever play out.

IMO there only two real threats to our nations sovereignty. One of those threats is in the form of economic warfare, which could quite possibly bring us to a state of near collapse. The other threat is a threat that was forseen by our founders, that is the threat of conquering from within, in the form of government.

If someone did take you down it would more thn likely have to be from the inside imo.

It was the North Koreans in Homefront, who somehow conquered China and Japan.

We owe the Chinese about the same amount we owe Japan, around $1 trillion. They are far more reliant on our money than we are them, we import over $300 billion of their crap every year. Just in the past decade, we bought twice as much crap as they loaned us.

Any force would have a hell of a time trying to occupy the US. Just the resistance from citizens alone would be overwhelming. en.wikipedia.org...

I'm talking about a conventional warfare scenario, total destruction by means of nukes or biological warfare is a different story.

I just hope all this talk about the "gun grabbers" isn't as dramatic as there making it sound. Otherwise America will be disarmed. :/

If the US tried genocide on it's own people, the people would have to remove the Gov. from power. There is a reason why most US citizens are armed, and some of us very well armed at that.

There is no one nation that could overpower our Gov. and no group of nations either. The only way it could be done is from the inside. A civil war perhaps.

Once any outside country tried to put "peace keepers" on the ground here, they would become targets for malitias.

America is an armed fortress inside and out.
Reguardless of current world policies, at home, America is very very strong internally both military-wise and political. People think the US is broke, yep, we might be, but that doesn't mean BROKEN.

The only way I could see some outside force making its way into the heartland of America is by:
1: Nuclear EMP weapons to knock out our electronics followed by
2. Chemical weapons use along the northern borders
3. Large scale nuclear blasts along the east coast
4. Same for west coast.
5. Invasion force comes up through Mexico attempting to take control of Texas.

After this first attack, 100 million dead I imagine, 1/3rd of the US wiped out.....

The problem lies within the country, a first attack is easy, it is easy to kill millions of people, however, once troops are put on the ground, they would find that Americans in general are not a welcoming force,especially when faced with an attack on our home soil.

The only way a country could take over the US is to wipe out every man, woman and child.

Any attack like that would result in an annihilating counter attack. We still have enough nuclear weapons to scorch the planet and render it uninhabitable for millenia.

In a mutual destruction scenario no one wins.

Thats what the EMP is for, to knock out our nuclear defensive capabilities. It would have to be a huge detonation though, or several.

So far as I know, this is the ONLY way to knock out most of our nuclear capabilities, so this would HAVE to be the 1st strike, any country that does not use EMPs first before an attack, wouldn't make it to our shores, and certainly wouldn't make it 20 miles inland. Their country/ies would be turned to glass.

south americans and caribbean people just get aboard a plane and fly in.

EMP wouldn't knock out them out, they are shielded and the system is shielded.

Even if they managed to miraculously score suprise direct nuclear strikes on the air force bases and silos, the submarines would still be in the waters with enough nuclear firepower to send Asia and Europe back to the stone age.

Also bear in mind if this scenario is in 9-10 years, optical, aka photonic, circuitry will have rendered an EMP absolutely useless even for civilian devices and systems.

ROME! and Rome was destroyed from the inside out by corrupt politicians and leaders. Sound Familiar?

A high altitude nuclear burst at strategic locations would destroy command and control of US forces, disabiling comms between subs etc, thus blinding the response. It would also take out all unshielded electronically controled systems creating chaos as most services halt, not to mention transport etc.

At this point special forces are disrupting msr's, sheilded comms and control, missile sites, and airborne troops are holding ground for main force invasion.

The comonwealth have the means, manpower and training to accomplish this.
