I can't believe people on this site talk about the two Parties as if they are different and politics is real. I thought you were all enlightened and awake, that's why you come to ATS.

Strong economic growth is not dependent on high taxes. Taxes are ussually higher when economic growth is strong, and the government ussually decreases taxes in the event of weak growth or recession to stimulate buying. Just so you know.

Every time I get riled up by neo96 and try to correct his intense, active ignorance, I am reminded that it is a Sisyphean task. Nothing can penetrate the hide of a true partisan hack; reason and arguments glide off their pelts like water off the feathers of ducks.

Which is exactly why the GOP will always have people voting against their own interests, calling corporate serfdom freedom and worshiping at the altar of the almighty Job Creator!

Job creators!

1.Don't punish them for being successful

2.If you tax them they will pass it on to the consumers anyways

3.If you tax them they will ship the jobs to China

4.If you tax them they will fire people and then go hide in the Swiss Alps with Richard Simmons

I know the whole handbook by now, I should know better

Please, that's insulting. Robo-calls use correct grammar and are much more polite when they tell you what a terrible person you are for not joining the cult they're selling.

Wow you really need to get your facts straight you haven't got a clue do you? First the tax reduction is for FICA, So this money effects you if your FICA contributions are lowered your social security suffers when you retire. What Obama did was give you money now and less later through your social security. Now Social security is all ready dealing with insolvency problems and to continue at a lower percentage means it will run out that much sooner meaning there will be a lot of poor and elderly hurt when the soc sec checks don't arrive. My advice to you get off your soap box And take the time to learn what your talking about. Oh and just so you know It maxes out at 400.00 so this isnt even a major deal its less then 15.00 on a paycheck. And that 15.00 is your money for retirement you get it now or later when you retire.

PS Notice Obama has a tendency to push everything off until later his idea for budget was to spend now cut later. His idea of helping out the poor give them money now and reduce there benefits later i see a pattern.

Neo I wasn't going to dignify this thread with a post, but I have to back you up on this. The Democrats have convinced the unwashed masses that they are truly for the little guy, but they are not. They have been scurrilously destroying the middle class with their Socialist policies and their elitist ways. I dont' believe it for a minute that Warren Buffet wants to pay more taxes. He has his billions in tax shelters. He is so full of cr(& and in the back pocket of BO that it just makes me shudder. Buffett has proven what an elitist NWO shill he is. I agree with your position here.

I've long said both Democrats and Republicans will tax you to death but at least the Democrats will give you something for it. This article illustrates exactly why I can't understand how everyday people vote Republican.

and thats why elections dont matter and democracy is just pure BS just look at spain how there two party system didnt help anyone and look else where in the western controled europe.

i want to emigrate to the usa become a senator or congress man so i can lie to your faces and sell you out to monsanto and GE
after all corperations are now persons in your country
im sure some person could pay me lots to tell lies like
give tax breaks to the rich it will help the poor

my personal reason for stating this is the truth sometimes hurts enough to get the messaqge accross,

the rich making rules for the rich
lol
tricle down economics is like a bad punch line,

i know of no rich people in my country who would even give a dollar to help,
yet these are the people we rely on to be charitable?

come on people life works like this

the rich buy tax breaks the politicians lie and say it will create jobs,
the poor get poorer

this scam is so blatent they have to put flouride in massive amounts in your water
or you would demand they are removed from your country

if i controlled your money i would not give 1 cent to the banks who destroyed your economy,
trickle down debt is the reality

economics is boring so people pay no attension to it
this is done on purpose to keep the flouridated population from realizing the scam of the century

the poor are taxed the rich pay nothing

sounds fair to me /sarcasm

this will not end how ANYONE expects
lol

cant wait to see Karma and justice catch up on these silly buggers

mark my words,
the meek shall inherate the earth
and im not religious

The Daily Show just covered this last week. Basically making the point that removing the tax breaks on the top 2% of the country's wealth would raise the same amount over 10 years as taking HALF of what the lower 50% has.

When it's taxing the rich, it's "only" 700 billion...but when it's taxing the poor, it's "important"...even though it'll be a lot less.

Skip ahead to 3:27 if you want to get right to the part where this is discussed.

I'm all for helping people who need it. You on the other hand just need a smack in the face.

... marginalize someone push ignorance that has nothing to do with the op ...

I think it's directly relevant if all you do all day is sit on ATS basically, mooching off tax payers money, doing nothing. It also exposes that you're the modern day equivalent of a hypocritical sophist.

This.

The "American Dream" myth that Republicans and conservatives are so fond of is a perfect formula for feudalism. If you are rich, you must have worked hard for it and deserve it based on your merits There is no conceivable way for someone to be rich and not deserve it in this paradigm. What's more, the rich ought to be rewarded even more because their merit (scoff, chortle) makes them most deserving of your votes!

What makes it all work is the vain [egotistical, hopeless] belief that even talentless Joe Plumber can become rich and powerful by working hard. What makes it all work is the belief that if you aren't rich and powerful then you deserve to be punished for your lack of good American virtue!

Well of course. The rich would not want the truth out that in fact most rich people become rich by being criminals, by inheriting it, or by being born into a life of privilege and having everything handed to them on a silver platter throughout their entire lives, or by a combination, or by all three of those ways - not all, but definitely most.

"I stole it", "I got it from mommy and daddy", or "I'm in the good old boy's club and have connections" does not have quite the same ring to it as, "I worked hard and earned it", "I represent the American dream", or "I am a job creator".

Honestly, I can count on one hand the amount of rich people I have met in my life that were not total scum.

If you were given a refund check for monies that you set aside into an account that was for retirement, how would you feel about that?

Happy? WAIT A MINUTE! That is money that you expected to inflate with the market and be relatively safe so it would be available to you when you retired. Your $20 that you put into savings every month will not keep up at the rate you will need to retire.

But, that $20 you put into a 401K plan will earn you greater returns than the same $20 you put into your savings account.

Now, let's say that your bank sent you a letter telling you that they are going to award you for...well, being YOU! They plan on mailing you you a check for $50 right away. What for? Ah, because you are you and we love you. Oh, btw...we've also changed savings deposit policy and you are now only allowed to deposit no more and $10/month into your savings account.

Well, three years goes by and you've decided to cash out your savings account. You are expecting your account to be $480.00. (1year adding $20/month to your account and 2 years adding $10/mo to your account = $480 - maybe $482 after interest).

The bank gives you a check for $360.00. Wah? Obviously you would like to know what happened to the other $120.00. The bank reminds you that they gave you a check for $50 for, well...just being YOU!

Now, apply the above situation, and same dollar amount contributed each month. In this situation you were expecting 10X that amount returned.

Well, welcome to the goverment's 401K......FICA

Now, why is everyone so happy about this?

With SS the way it is and expected to be, why is Obama sigining bills for us to contribute only 75% of what we were contributing before? Will I be getting only 75% of what I was told I'd receive upon retirement? (We all get that sheet every few years from the IRS, listing the amount we have contributed to date and the amount we are expected to receive based on a couple of scenarios.)

Why two years the first time and this last time he extened it for one year? Was it so he could purposely mislead the American employees into thinking this is a tax contribution and use it to villify the other party? Taxes are monies we pay that are not returned. FICA is seperate line on your check stub for a reason. It is NOT state tax withheld and it is NOT federal tax withheld..

IT IS YOUR PENSION PLAN CONTRIBUTION!!

Come on people, we are all smarter than this. Don't let these clowns get away with tricks that are so blatantly offensive to have been pulled on us..

Election year is coming and this one is going to get very ugly.

Can't wait for that day.

How is something 'unconstitutional' when it is clearly legalized and appropriated to the federal government within the Constitution? That is like saying "free speech is unconstitutional" even though it is clearly stated freedom of speech is a right in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

You cannot just call something unconstitutional if you do not like it, just calling it so does not make it true.

AMENDMENT XVI
Passed by Congress July 2, 1909. Ratified February 3, 1913.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
