What makes this bad? Do you think the video is a fake, or do you think the possibility of pk is a bad thing?

I still don't see any motor. It just looks like an erasor with a pin stuck into it and a square of foil balanced on top.

For a forum that gets so much traffic, no one seems interested in having a conversation. The original poster called the video weird, but doesn't seem interested in saying much more than that.

So I guess the only way I'm going to reach 20 posts and gain forum privileges is to hold a conversation with myself.

So, Quirky, what did you think of that video?

Well, I thought it was interesting, but videos are not particularly evidential. What did you think?

It looks like something fun to try out!

But do you think this is something anyone can do?

That probably depends on what causes the effect.

I really do need to appoligize for my inattention to this thread.

Sometimes, no. I usually get too tied up with other interests to check into things I have already started.

I must admit to a slight degree of lack of concentration.

As to the "wierd" example of PK in this vid. I have tried it and it does not work for me. It may have some thing to do with the ability for a person to focus their concentration on a singular task.

It wasn't just you, the whole board seems mainly set up of lurkers. Lots of traffic, but no one wants to have a conversation. I think the videos are interesting. Actually the blog itself has a lot of good links.

I think that the video producer has done a good job at eliminating obvious causes for the pinwheel to react to his gestures. I have my own theories about the potential for impact of human thoughts and intentions on existential wholes that share a specific environmental confine with that human mind. After all, organized and redundant activity is the result of residual information (well known by even freshmen physics students) imposing "natural laws" which inhibit unfettered freedom of movement.

Since human intellect is also a form of information (being configured data clusters that are "generated" by the brain to manage and implement both DNA directives and moment-specific survival responses to the extended corporeal enterprise) it makes sense to assume that the possibility for a bit of "slop in the system" could result in those human intellect systems that "leak" a bit of that dynamic information into the surrounding environment from time to time. Gaining control over that leakage would be the trick, since it's actually more of a defect than a capacity, but then so is genius, which can be debilitating if not properly controlled.

I forwarded this to some friends, who will be eager to tear it apart. I'll be interested to see what sort of brilliant theories they have to debunk it.

Static would be the obvious choice. Magnets could be an option too, but I don't think she is cheating.

There is a video where she wipes down the jar with a dryer sheet. At the very least, if it were static, that should have at least attenuated the effect. It didn't make a difference.

So what did they come up with?

I think that he's putting bits of Styrofoam in the water and when the air escapes the plastic it creates a minimal air current. Or hes just blowing on it.

These two videos posted after the one in the OP seem to blow that theory apart:

So what gives it away? What are you observing that suggests photoshop is the answer? Or are you just saying that because you don't really know and it seems like an easy answer?

If you think so, then maybe you can show us how you would replicate the video?
