While checking out the earthquake data on Google earth I happened to stumble upon a very large red X inside a box that has been added in Eastern Russia. Also when you scroll over the X a green border appears with approximately 1000 mile radius. Can anyone tell me what these markers symbolize?

You have to download the file. Just search Google earth earthquakes and you will find it. Its pretty cool and its real time so you can see where they are going off at any given moment.

This is where I found the KML file.

earthquake.usgs.gov...

You can go here

or here

earthquake.usgs.gov...

or here

www.oe-files.de...

There are quite a few places to find that data.
