Electronics store robbed of cash, gear
The bandit may have been acquiring equipment from the Radio Shack for a future crime, officials say.

LAGUNA NIGUEL An electronics store was robbed by a man who spent nearly a half hour inside the store and talking on his cell phone before pulling out a shotgun taking cash and five walkie-talkies a crime that is being investigated by a joint terrorism task force, officials said.
The incident may have begun about 9 a.m. Wednesday when a man described as having a Middle Eastern accent called the Radio Shack store at 27230 Alicia Parkway and asked for directions from Garden Grove. He was told that there are many Radio Shack stores closer to Garden Grove, sheriffs spokesman Jim Amormino said.

About noon, a man also described as having a Middle Eastern accent arrived at the store, wearing a suit and carrying a large duffel bag. He spent about 25 minutes browsing through the store. He asked about a Global Positioning System device and was told the store didnt have one for sale.

Maybe he is just stupid cos if he just stole the cash he could have used that to purchase legally the walkie talkies and GPS without arousing suspicion.
Please people stop underestimating terrorist as Male organs. If you underestimate your oponent you will always get your butt kicked as the Americans are learning the hard way.

Those radios are about useless, they transmit on open channels and their privacy is nonexistant. If this is somehow related to terrorism, Its going to be a real f-up of a job. Too easy for someone to now scan all those freq for transmissions, esp now that the story has broken. Hell purchasing a few cheap cell phones from wallmart would be more effcective.

Let us do a take on a theory that since most if not all of this domestically occuring terrorism is fake, and instigated by the government, it is practically obvious this is a kind of "balloon," another matter conspicuous consumption that casts the same kind a halo as 911. Maybe we should be very afraid, I do not know, but why advertise it if you are doing an operation, unless there is another matter of defaming "middle east men."

The history of operations such as cointelpro show that government instigates such things, go through the history of all these problem-reaction-solution scenarios.

I am more worried about the junk laws they want to pass, than the mindless insipid terrorism, even though their brand of it has not as yet happened from the above story. I will tell you this once and for all, 911 is a little drop in the bucket compared with all the stuff that has happened since then from our government. A facist police state is a thousand times worse than any foolish government sponsored building demolition in which they may have too coveniently forgot to notify anyone. Has anyone ever heard of the expression "accidentally on purpose?"

If you were running the USG like a business, you would do a Donald Trump and say "you''re fired!" You wouldn't double their budgets and reward incompetence, would you?

An attitude such as that would eliminate all doubt whether by ommission or commission of these events. I am more prepared to face the uncertainty of these eventualities on incentives. To put to trial an internal investigation punishing those in our government who either instigated and/or ommited to investigate properly these events is a long stretch. Fat chance you would get anywhere, without more massive distractions that allow even more operations to happen.

One could ask the philosophical question "what took them so long to do 911?" Perhaps it was media consolidation, concentration, and just view the film "Outfoxed," to get an idea. The future of continued ignorance is too much to bear. Just try talking to anyone who still believes the government conspiracy theory that is authoritative fact for all practical purposes. People are hired and fired for beliefs in a totally unsubstantiated myth.

I did not say that the "terrorists" were up to something, just that this is very odd, probably a diversion from the truth.

A real terrorist could easily buy them over the internet or purchase stolen ones from a missing shipment. These things are all over the place.

Question is, why stay in the store 25 minutes, so the clerk can have a REAL good look and memorize what you look like.

No disguise

Obviouse "problem" guy enters store with large duffle bag, aaa excuse me, wouldn't you think to yourself, this is odd, he probably wants to steal something ??????

Why do you bring a duffle bag into the store ?

What good is a GPS unit to a terrorist ???? Are they going to call in an airstrike from somewhere ??? and be at the center of the impact calling out the GPS cords ????

We are talking about what $125.00 worth of FRS units ? with limited range and highly interceptable, especially in a radio soaked area like Southern California.

NO something is up with this story. Too many risks for one guy to take to steal some radios.

the only thing i see that is up with this is that it even made the news let alone investigated by anti terror police.

how ridiculous! I am dumbfounded as to how paranoid the US is.....a man walks into a store and robs it........so what........he committed a crime that it.........do you really think that terrorists would risk years of careful surveillance and planning to just nick a couple of walkie talkies.....this is exactly how the US Governement wants you to think, they want to scare you like they did with the so called communist threat that not exist.

It obvious to the rest of the world who is winning the war on terror and it's not the US

Not all terrorists are masterminds people. This is obviously an agent of a fringe group looking for some recognition (which will lead to more financing). It's evident though, that this particular cell seems to be populated by morons....
If it was truly a well financed and organized group (such as Al Queda...) they would not have made such obvious mistakes and would have simply bought any needed gear...

I would really like to have a nice repository of strange news events that keep occuring around the country. I have posted a few and I am sure seen alot more. Everyone around the world looking at and reading their own local news and the such. It would really open up some ideas and maybe we could start putting some pieces togther.

how stupid are you?

terrorism is not just about how many bombs you can set off or how many people you kill,. it is about creating a climate of fear which al queda has done very effectively, look at how you all jump at the slightest thing as if it is a warning of a major attack.

a man robbed a store...thats it get over it and get on with your lives.

exactly!
if in the cvery unlikely event that it is terrorism it is more likely to be some domestic terror group than al queda

Keep comments like that back in the 5th grade please.

Fear is something humanity has lived with their entire lives. If you walk down a dark ally in a bad neighborhood and if your not afraid you may not be very observant. There is also a very big difference from being afraid to being aware. I am not in constant fear but I do keep my eyes on alert at all times. I work very close to Federal Building and I get suspicious sometimes, but does this make me paranoid? I think not, I keep my eyes open and look at my enviornment. I am not sure where you live but EVERY country in the world has their own element of conflict. You should be aware too, for whatever reason that may be.

Ok I made that too personal but you have to admit that there are a great many people who are scared to go about their daily lives through fear of terrorism. It is very different to the fear that you talked about, of course you are going to be scared in a dark alleyway or whatever but to believe everything that the media is telling you is related to terrorism is ridiculous. The chances of being caught up in a terrorist attacks are tiny, Yes be vigilent, if you see something suspicious report it but think to yourself am I just seeing it as suspicious because they look 'middle eastern'.

I personally when presented with photos of 'middle eastern' or southern european, or indian or english or asian or american, could say that person is definately whatever nationality.

Don't forget richard reid was white!

This is only newsworthy because of the 'middle eastern' accent. That is what makes this scary to everyone. Sounds like a psy/op to me.

Bad people are everywhere regardless of beliefs, race, sex or region.

I think the American media distorts almost everything because we as a culture want to hear the bad news. National Security prevents us from hearing the good news. Then they fill everything in with a high profile murder or rape to smooth the lines.

There are definately people who live in a cave watching every news channel just waiting for a terrorist attack to happen. I actually was one of them. It personally took me awhile to realize what I doing and alot of external factors came into play. I am definately at my happy medium now where I just like to be aware of whats going on and I like to recognize patterns. Anyway, I am straying off the topic and getting away from the point I wanted to make. I have noticed that complacency has really taken place across the board for most Americans. Unless it happens again they are going to continue to be this way and the level of paranoia will decrease.

Unfortunately, any way you cut it, we will always be at risk from some lunatic deciding to strap a bomb to his chest and set him self off in a mall. We have been very lucky so far but as long as we stay aware and not let it control our lives.

Trust me Spain is well worth looking at to gain experiance in beating a well run and organised Terrorist Group they come a close second too Britain.
They still use torture as a method of gaining intel from captured cells.I know this because one of my cousins is currently in Prison for his involvement in E.T.A.Trust me when the Guardia as questions you will give the right answers. The Americans and the rest of the world need to realise that you need to fight fire with everything you got at no matter what the cost is,but you must also learn to look in the right places and at the right people.

Definitely strange, Middle Easterner; talking to someone outside the store, It was planned. So maybe the merch was required for someone else, somewhere else. Everything was staged to attract attention and ensure that the perps got away. Sounds like a diversion. The terrorists spent several days running around France with threatening notes about French trains before they actually blew up the train in Spain on the Plain.

Terrorist are by definition using terror tacts as there main weapon. They don`t like to many photo`s of dead children on the media. The Americans jumping into the air at every little thing is excactly what they want its going to ruin your economy which will wreck your ability to fight them allowing them to get stronger and win. This is a long term plan and Americans are falling into it.

What exactly makes people in other countries think we are "jumping in the air" with every "terror threat"? Media?

I, along with everyone I know, go about our business as usual but we may be a little more alert than we were pre 9/11. The politicians and the media are the ones who do the jumping. Only the true "followers" jump when told to by this bunch. The majority of the rest of us are going on with daily life just as the rest of you.
Don't believe the hype!
