Having read and posted in the thread Did Humans and Dinosaurs Coexist? Yes! I feel utterly compelled to start this thread as it appears some light needs to be shone onto Dr Andrew A Snelling and his creationist “Science”. This is not a thread about a thread, its is simply that which I have stated.

Mr Snellings “science” appears to be something he does not believe himself, the creationists however, well, they cling to it as though it is something that is the last of its kind. This to me is the desperate nature of the creationist.

The following text is from Will the Real Dr Snelling Please Stand Up? By Dr Alex Ritchie.

There appear to be two geologists living, working and publishing in Australia under the name of Dr Andrew A Snelling. Both have impressive (and identical) scientific qualifications - a BSc (Hons), in Geology (University of NSW) and a PhD, for research in uranium mineralisation (University of Sydney).

Curiously, both Drs Snelling use the same address (PO Box 302, Sunnybank, Qld, 4109), which they share with an organisation called the Creation Science Foundation (CSF), the coordinating centre for fundamentalist creationism in Australia.

But the really strange thing about this is that the views of these two Drs Snelling, on matters such as the age of the earth and its geological strata, are diametrically opposed. This article, the result of my extensive searches through the literature, highlights this remarkable coincidence and poses some serious questions of credibility for the Creation Science Foundation and for either or both of the Drs Andrew A Snelling.

Please read the full article here

The thing I find disturbing about the thread Did Humans and Dinosaurs Coexist? Yes! Is that it potentially flies in the face of the ATS principle of Deny Ignorance. And it was authored by the Forum Moderator. This is a Conspiracy Forum not a propaganda forum.

If the author is or was unaware of the information posted herein at the time of writing then fine, I am willing to move on, however if there has been any attempt to conceal this information then I would suggest that thread be deleted.

Cheers

I have an opinion too.

This thread is anti-creationist propaganda.

Why are you still arguing about the #ing chicken and the egg? The nest is in danger robin (you may have missed the humor)..oh, you say what humor...

Do you really not think that maybe you should get on to figuring out how to save the world.....

I think that the "what came first" argument is rather cliche by now. Stop #ing around and grow up.

I just posted in the other thread

"By the way i find it disturbing that ATS has a raging christian as a moderator that is pushing his ridiculus beliefs on us. Can another mod look into this please because i thought the entire point of moderation was to be impartial".

Last time I checked, Mods can participate and create threads as they wish, they cannot then moderate in that thread. What is wrong with this? EVERYONE has the right to contribute and voice their opinions here as long as they abide by ATS T & C.

Spot on.

Censorship is for dictators.

This has nothing to do with censorship mate. It does have everything to do with the judgement of ATS having a flag waving creationist as a mod. How can his judgment be unbiased when he has such a rigid belief system.
especially if he were moderating a religious debate for instance or a science thread? his mind is already made up.

sorry man. For a thread that's not about another thread, it sure reeks of a thread being about another thread

So I take it that anything you disagree with is propaganda regardless of the truth. You deny ignorance much?

I disagree with all censorship regardless of whether the information is fact or fiction. Let people make up their own mind, if they are too gullible then too bad.

Disclaimer: I am a christian. (I guess I am one of those gullible types)

Sorry for the label.

I should have written it out as "Someone that believes God does not exist".

You are an example of political correctness gone mad. Such sensitive souls these days.

*Ahem*

That you chose to begin this thread rather than be content to place these thoughts on the mentioned OP, speaks to what may be a certain degree of desperation on your end as well.

I confess that I don't understand the feud between those who believe in creation and those who believe in evolution. There's no reason whatsoever that you simply cannot live and let live. I mean, even in the most dangerous wilds, animals of all varieties live side by side, even though they often compete for the same resources.

Or maybe, that's what all the hubbub is about... the resources, or people, who must be captured to ensure the furthering of the theory and guaranteeing that there is yet another generation to man the battlements.

Personally, I suspect there is truth to be found from both extremist camps. But rather than argue a subject that will never win a single heart or soul over to either side, I will be content to keep my beliefs personal and not run them up a flagpole.

May we all evolve into the creatures God intended (guffaw!)

Firstly, thanks for all the input. Secondly I would like to retract the “thread should be deleted” remark. This was harsh and indeed against my own thoughts on censorship. I wasn’t real happy at the time of composition.

Prior to starting this thread I searched ATS for Dr Andrew Snelling and could find nothing highlighting the bizarre and disturbing basis of Creationist Science. Through this thread I hope that has, in part, been corrected. Additionally I hope that on this site at least some balance has been generated in this forum, should anyone else undertake another search.

This is not about the chicken and the egg. In fact it couldn’t be further from that. It’s about balance. It is about the real threat of Religious Fundamentalism and more importantly it is about Denying Ignorance, in essence, mileysubet, it is my attempt to save the world, apparently pathetic as it is.

Fundamentalists are real, have a look at some of the threads in “US Political Madness” and tell me that, if you believe in humanity, you are not concerned. They attempt to distort reality and they will lie and they will continue down this path with utter relentlessness to achieve their goal whatever that may be.

The simple truth is that Fundamentalists are a problem and if you are a humanist then you should be concerned because it’s probably only going to get worse. It is, IMHO, futile to actively attempt to sway another’s opinion, but should you come across blatant distortions or untruths regardless of their origins
, please, do us a favour and don’t stick your head in the sand.

Cheers

Forget the ‘thread about a thread’ nonsense. Read the web page linked to in the OP.

This is what creationists are forced, by their beliefs, to be: liars even unto themselves.

Now consider the status of the other thread starter. If creationists cannot be trusted to tell the truth, can they be trusted to be impartial moderators on a web forum?

The question is certainly valid.
