So I was bored browsing through youtube and I found this video. Now the video itself is about a year old but the statements made by the officers really just bothered me. The statements in question are made at around the 4:45-5:15 mark in the video after an officer threatens these 2 with charges and then another refuses to give his badge number. Now I would agree that the cops were in the right to escort these men off the private property, but its more so the comments made by the officers that bother me more than anything else. Since this video is a year old I apologize if its been posted before, but Id like to get some thoughts on who exactly this officer thinks he is supposed to be serving? Obviously that particular officer believes he serves himself, but does the term "protect and serve" mean anything anymore?

This is the problem, the police think they are above all things. They just try to do there jobs, but the have to regain the respect for the people, which they are supposed to serve.

The problem is that that they're really supposed to serve the public's best interest within the boundaries of the law. So, while they serve, just because someone wants them to service them in a juvenile manner doesn't mean that the cop has to.

But yeah, lawmen can be pricks. Met quite a few. Also have family and friends who are cops who are willing to crack down on abuse of the system by cops.

the "and serve" portion has been removed off of Denver cop cars for a long time. I think the phrase on the cop car in transformers is more apt these days "to punish and enslave"

'grotesque and getting on you're nerve'

would suit better.

mindsets of some of these cops

sadly it's those few rotten apples that spoil the bunch.
