Well son, you must google most of this yourself.

Here is just one example. The Toba incident.

Tremendous amounts of rock and ash were ejected into the air, blocking the sun for months. The temperature around the globe was thought to have plummeted as much as 21 degrees. Man was pushed to the edge of extinction , the population forced down to just a couple of thousand. Perhaps as much as 75% of plant life on the North American continent may have died out.

Shadow your running into what I call (sorry I cannot remember the actual name) 'Time viewing distortion', you are looking at natural disasters and not precieving the amount of the time they are separated by and the limited effect they have on the earth as a whole.

Natural disasters happen but they don't happen all the time nor do they wipe out 'civilizations' each time they occur. It took thousands of years for the Sahara to dry up, the sea levels to rise, the mega faua to disappear.

I have in my possession a book called "Hostile shores:
catastrophic events in prehistoric New Zealand and their impact on Maori coastal communities" which ties Maori mythology with the physical evidence (such as Taniwha in Kaikoura being associated with earthquakes and subsequent tsunami deposits), so I am aware of the potential for mythology to be used positively as another tool for determining past events. However, it's not as simple as linking a with b.
I am also aware of the impacts of volcanic eruptions and long term outgassing, such as the Deccan Traps. Fortunately we have not had anything like that (on that scale) during the development of Homo sapiens sapiens

Fortunately, mega tsunami aren't global, despite you claiming they are. They are regional at best and sometimes even local (e.g. Lituya Bay). Even the Chixulub/Shiva event did not cause a global tsunami, but the effects of the event were global.

You have much to learn before engaging in discussions of this nature.

Yes a super volcano would be a disaster but the people who would, in your words, retreat to the caves would take their modern technology with them......ceramics, plastics, refined metals, glass and jewely and guess what is NOT found in excavation of caves, excavations covering hundreds of thousands of years ..........yeah you guess it right, all that stuff. Excellent blocula you've taken on my suggestion to include film in your ideas, very good. Now the only problem is that there wouldn't be a 'mad-max' scenario, care to look up how much gasoline/diesel is on hand in any modern country? How many weeks, or months will it last until it is used up.....

nah just back to hunting and gathering with subsistence farming, the 'pre-historic' had no modified grains nor domesticated animal, like corn, these folks would. You might want to research what our maize, rice, potatoes and wheat came from and how it wasn't a great source to 'cave men'....until 'domesticated'.
