Someone always survives. Life finds away, if you want to call it. How else would we have records of these events in myth, if they actually occurred?

Except humanity as our modern self is only around 50,000 to 20,000 years old. People like to throw numbers around like 500,000 years or more. But those were our ancestors of the homo erectus lineage, as well as others such as homo rhodesiensis. We, as we are today, can only be said to be around 50,000 years old with the advent of Behavioral modernity. Some say the speech centers of or form weren't fully developed until 20,000 years ago. So we're looking at, at most, maybe 3-4 repeats of all history. Of course, if we cut out the fat, all that modernity could be compressed into just 3000-2000 years, thus perhaps allowing a couple more redos.

And I agree there. Therefore the only logical conclusion would be that they were either very primitive and did not leave any evidence as we would at this point or that no major civilizations existed.

Don't get me wrong, I think there is much more to it than what approved history teaches us but we have to remain realistic. No sufficiently advanced civilization would be wiped clean in 20k years. So I hope we find some evidence.

yes the image we have of prehistoric people with shaggy long hair dressed in animal skins and throwing spears at mammoths are actually the survivors of a self inflicted holocaust,struggling to live.and here we are again,standing on the edge of disaster and after the next nuclear war is unleashed,and the poles shift again and another ice age occurs with mountains of frozen snow advancing across the continents crushing everything in their path, all that will be left alive are small bands of people suddenly hurdled back into the stoneage with food,shelter and clothing their only major concerns,not what size television to buy anymore, they will live among wild animals and sit around fires near mountains of ice and tell stories about myths and legends of forgotten worlds and lost ways of life that will just happen to be about the world we are living in right now...its really,really sad...

You obviously skipped alot of reading and jumped to.conclusions. there are numerous examples in this thread as to how the slate could have been wiped clean. Many of which that we're factual events. For example polar shift, rising ocean levels, flood, ice age.

If we destroyed ourselves then how were there any left over?

There is no archeological evidence to suggest there were civilzations beyond 12,000 B.C.E., or if there is, it hasnt been discovered yet. You make bold accusations and back it up with no evidence. I'm not saying i totally disagree with everything you've said. Whatever green light youre talking about, i don't think this has anything to do with the comic book superhero Green Lantern. Humans have been killing eachother for quite a long time, yet there is no evidence to suggest that we have made war on eachother further back than 12,000 years.

Yes, sir. I believe you are on the right track. Our history is broken, that I am convinced. Whether through ignorance or nefarious means I do not know. Many glaring examples are found in ancient constructs. I also doubt the dating of different sites and artifacts. And why start the calendar again at year 1? Really? THAT was a point of rebirth in this world. But why? Why then, and why did it become the standard rebirth of time. Because that's when Christ was born? I might buy that if the coming of Christ, whatever that might be, was a significant world event.

The Earth has seen many changes and different periods of life. I think we may be on the cusp of the next one. We're in such a digital, paper and plastic phase. If the world burns tomorrow there would be not much left but ash and stone. Probably more ash. Not a whole lot different than my archeology books.

my theory fits very well with our nuclear proliferation,ice ages,solar flares,pole shifts,mega tsunamis,gamma ray bursts,and the neverending wars that we inflict upon eachother...

If I were part of an ancient advanced civilization and wanted future people to know we existed, I would put some kind of marker in space, on the moon or even mars. It wouldn't make sense to put it on earth considering we could destroy it here. When the future civilizations got to the point of having the technology to view distant places like the moon or mars I would put a huge sign.

For dramatic effects maybe a human face.

I'd ask you to look at the Minoans. No, they weren't some ultra advanced people. But for all intensive purposes, they were about 300-400 years behind us... In the year 1500BC. Their architecture was amazing, and their technical skills unheard of. Better than even the Egyptians.

Again, I'm not saying that they were some super advanced civilization. But this is pretty advanced for its time period. It doesn't have to be a complete fall. Just look at our modern era. We're going through some strange massive forgetting of our past and our principals. All it would take is that, and suddenly 3 generations later we've forgotten how to produce concrete and its all downhill from there.

Yes, fully aware of it but I did not wish to comment on the article step by step.

Ancient nuclear reactors are a very interesting topic and one of my favorites. Some have been found that would suggest there were a civilization more advanced than ours 2 billion years ago in Africa!

Others found have been proven to be natural nuclear reactors, 10 to 15 thousand years ago.

I'm open to every and all possibility, but all I ask for is that we remain realistic. Saying there would be nothing left of us in a couple of thousand years is not very correct and therefore, at least for me, draws the focus away from the remaining material.

Ok, did some light research just now and I think the figure we're looking for is 50,000 years. In 50k years human civilization would be unrecognizable, another 150k years for all traces of our nuclear technology to disappear.

these structures that you mention and all our buildings and bridges and houses are constantly being repaired and fixed up...when we are once again thrown back into a stoneage state, who will be looking after and taking care of these things...no one!...they will become rubble and then eventually dust...

I recently begin reading William Bramley's book gods of Eden and thought his claims were way more interesting and consistent then the television series. Bramley explains his theories on how aliens have had a long-lasting mostly negative impact on human existence. He begins with the ancient Sumerian texts in which the Sumerians write about how the gods became tired of mining on their own and created a new species by putting a god to death and mixing it with clay, a process that was possibly genetic engineering. The end result was homo sapien sapiens, a byproduct of the gods and the original homo sapiens. The original homo sapiens or homo sapien neanderthalensis also disappeared at the same time homo sapiens sapiens appeared suggesting that the gods might have exterminated the original homo sapiens to make room for the new slave race. Ancient tablets credit one god in particular EA as being creator of the slave race. EA is described as being sympathetic to his creation fighting for them to gain spiritual knowledge in contrast to his half-brother Enlil who wanted them to suffer and would call for famines and plagues when they got too noisy. Eventually Enlil called for a great flood to wipe out the homo sapiens. It seems to be agreed that many archeologists believe there was a great flood in the near east thousands of years ago. The Epic of Gilgamesh claims how a Babylonian named Utnapishtim was approached by EA and told that a wipe out of homo sapiens sapiens was planned. He was instructed to gather his family and livestock and build a ship to survive the flood which they did. This story is strikingly similar to Noah's ark as is the story of Adam and Eve. The god or lord god of the bible's Adam and Eve can be translated as the original god of earth. The story which is entirely symbolic says how Adam who is first man, was created by god from the dust of ground an idea reflected from the older belief that people were created partly with clay. Adam's wife Eve was also created artificially and they lived in the Garden of Eden where they were told that all of their physical needs would be met as long as they obeyed their masters and stayed in the garden. They were also told never to eat fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil which symbolizes an understanding of ethics and justice or the tree of life which represents how to retain one's spiritual identity and immortality. A snake convinces them to eat fruit from the tree and become like the gods. The gods wanted to permanently attach the spiritual beings to their bodies so they used the flaming sword to prevent them from gaining spiritual knowledge and never rising above material existence. A common misconception is that Adam and Eve were embarrassed about being naked as they ate from the tree of knowledge but it was not being naked that shamed them it was what nakedness represented. Ancient Mesopotamian records depict human beings as being naked while working while the gods were fully clothed. The implication is that Adam and Eve were degraded by their nakedness because it was the sign of their enslavement not that being naked in itself is bad. The brotherhood of the snake was created by EA and was devoted in the beginning to helping humans achieve spiritual salvation however were incapable to do so much like the snake in the Adam and Eve. EA was villonized his title changed from Prince of Earth to Prince of darkness and was labeled Satan or the mortal enenmy of a supreme being and keeper of hell. The brotherhood of the snake created a group of one god religions that such as Islam,Christianity, and Judiasm to keep people divided and created apocalyptic beliefs that constant final battles are necessary to achieve a new period of spiritual salvation. In my personal opinion and I may be wrong but it appears today most religions including Christianity and Islam calling for final battles with Christianity warning of an Antichrist that will lead people to one other religion and one government, things that would probably be beneficial in a sense of being united but things the gods don't want. The Tower of Babel bibel story suggests that the gods would rather have a group of people disunited and unable.to speak the same language, a bad position for the human race and something that contrasts greatly with what our gods are supposed to want for us. Also Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Satan was originally a perfect angel who developed feelings of self-importance and craved worship. Satan caused Adam and Eve to disobey God, and humanity subsequently became participants in a challenge involving the competing claims of Jehovah and Satan to universal sovereignty.[153] Other angels who sided with Satan became demons.

And this is exacly what we are currently not doing. All our combined human knowledge is.recorded electronically or on paper, two mediums that would not survive over a hundred years of neglect should civilization be destroyed tomorrow. Besides what would be the purpose of leaving a vault of knowledge? Currently in society we place war and money ahead of education. You couldn't find a single govt that would spend a dime on such a project. And even if you did for what purpose would we leave it? Nobody would like to believe we will eventually destroy ourselves. Committing to such a project would be akin to saying the world is going to end tomorrow.

If civilization were to.end It would probably happen so fast that there wouldn't be any time to store our collective knowledge anyway.

Losing electricity would wipe out most of our modern society all by itself. After that it would just take time. The amount of time is in question here not the validity that time would erase everything.

Maybe the first advanced civilization existed here a billion years ago, would you argue that a billion years isn't long enough?
