I live out in the country and I was heading back from the general store and I saw 2 aliens shaking hands and then climb into their UFO and fly out to 3000ft and then go invisible.

It was awesome!

The closest the Space Station came to you was Blythville AK. That would have been to your Southeast.

Well,it was't the ISS it's over by New Zealand now

www.n2yo.com...

I have seen satellites before, but not quite as bright as this one was.
So I wonder which satellite it was,or was it one.

It's heading back towards the USA now.

Go to www.heavens-above.com... and put your location in to see if it will be visible again, and if it is, watch it and compare with the earlier sighting.

this was no satellite, #1 it was too close to the ground and flying flat, not at an arch like satellites and the space station. ive seen the space station many times before and it was nowhere near the same appearance as this thing, but i must say whatever it was? it was cool

I saw a bright steady light at about 10pm est heading east north east just right of the Cassiopeia constellation
in the location of 38.163 degrees north and 85.818 degrees west. The azimuth was about 51.87 north east at an elevation of about 49 degrees for you astronomy buffs.

Called my folks and they are sitting on the porch with a video camera in hand. If not, that's what they do anyways, besides the camera. I am in the Southern part of Ohio, but my folks live up North. So if it passes through here, one of us should see it. Unless it passes by while I'm in the bathroom...

Still keeping an eye out.

I see the derisive carping began virtually immediately.

Sigh.

I don't have trouble believing you. But then I tend to have a policy of taking things at face value until proven otherwise by either logic or better evidence.

It is obvious to me that you are certain:

1. It's a big craft.

2. It's a lot closer than the space station

3. As usual, it was silent yet bright.

Hopefully some other ATSers will sign-on and verify what you've seen.

Until then, all the naysayers will have a field day at your expense.

What a gauntlet citizen reporters have to put up with to just report what they saw!

Sigh.

Clouds came into the scene when ISS was to come across the sky,so I couldn't see that.
I was posting on here about the increase in alien attacks shows and stepped outside for a smoke, when I noticed the bright light going across the sky.I thought it was a plane, but didn't see any flashing lights.
Then I thought it was a satellite, but they usually fade out after getting away from the sun.
So I thought not much about it till I so your post about it.

Anyways, like they say,no pics or it didn't happen.

I live in Cape Girardeau, and last night I saw the ISS, it was a bright light and traveling very fast so that's probably what you saw, sir.

this thing was going very low and very slow, but was extremely bright...so no its not what you saw

High fast = low slow. It depends upon your preconceptions. If it's high and fast and you think its low, it looks like is slow. If it's low and fast and you think it's high, it looks like its slow. The trouble is that it is impossible to judge the height of a light in the sky.

But since none of us apparently saw what you saw, you win.

But it is an interesting coincidence that the ISS was there at the same time.

I can go outside and spot satellites any time I want to. Same goes for airplanes flying over us to land at the local airport and the ISS does pass over us and is visible.

I can easily tell the difference between all of these, including which one is higher than the other. I can't give a decent estimate of the exact altitude in feet but a rough estimate of "lower than 10000" or "higher than commercial traffic" would be no problem.

I consider myself a skeptic to some degree but when that involves presenting ANY possible alternative explanation with no more proof than the original proposed theory - well, that's not skepticism IMO, that's ignorance wrapped in a cloak of skepticism.

My spouse has no depth perception at night so I can't rule out you maybe having a similar condition but I have to completely disagree with flat statements that "it's impossible to judge altitude in a night sky". If I say something is flying overhead lower than 3000 feet there's no way in hell it would be the ISS.

I've seen things that resembled satellites traveling outside earths atmosphere that were traveling 4 times faster than any normal satellite, and I've seen thousands of satellites russian space stations, american space stations, the ISS commercial aircraft, civilian, aircraft, military, missiles, balloons, blimps, fireworks

Ive been steadily watching the sky's for over 30 years for my pleasure and for the military, don't you think in all that time i would know what is or isn't????

unless they're running new craft nightly over southwest missouri that illuminate like micro stars, i'd have to point to unknown
