The government through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, specifically advises citizens to collect stockpile and keep a "Kit" ready in case of emergencies. The FEMA site recommends that we stock our disaster kits with such items as:

Food that does not require refrigeration and has a long shelf life (MRE’s)
Emergency preparedness manual
Portable, battery-operated radio or television and extra batteries
Flashlight and extra batteries
Knife
Compass
Matcheas in a waterproof container
Waterproof storage containers
Maps
Cash and Coins

Identity theft is a major problem, many government web pages urge people to guard their personal information. One of the best ways to protect your identity is not to give it out and to use cash whenever possible. When somebody shows an interest or requirement to have your identity and know your business, common sense dictates that you should not provide that information.

Included in the flyers is a request by the FBI that among other actions retailers:
Require valid ID from all new customers.
Keep records or purchases.
Talk to customers, ask questions, and listen to and observe their responses.
br />So if we are good citizens and do as our government asks by protect our identities and take personal responsibility to take care of ourselves in the event of a disaster by storing reserve food supplies, water, self defense armaments, cash and tradable goods, etc. then we have become “persons of interest” and domestic terrorism suspects.

lpcitrus.blogspot.com...

That's right, by attempting to follow basic emergency planning you can now be labeled a terrorist. Just another noose around the neck of liberty.

Soo....basically the FBI wants army surplus store businesses to keep track of every other customer. Anyone getting themselves prepared for (camping, hunting, TSHT, earthquakes, etc..) needs to be tracked.

Why on earth would water proof match containers get somebody flagged? Seriously? It's almost kind of funny if weren't such a waste of FBI resources.

i see the pattern and the only thing that makes since is the government wants us to die!

gives creedance to the 2012 prophecy!!!!!!!!

i cant make sense of anything these days and i have been saying this alot lately cause its true.

Ask for ID from new customers? Draw us into a discussion to evaluate our responses? I'm sorry but outside of using a card, I do not show ID. Period. I don't smoke or drink and I'm a good way beyond any of the min. ages anyway, so who I am or where I live is absolutely no one else's business unless I choose to make it their business.

I've left items sitting on a checkout counter and told them to restock it all as I walked out, for less than this kind of thing. I can see I'll be doing it more as the time goes on. ID my foot..lol

Why would the government want us to die, that makes no sense. They cant make money or rule a people if the people they make money and rule are dead....

Your argument fails logic.

Are you sure its only the FBI etc who want to know about whose using cash.

I've seen several times now the attitude of banks to customers who want to use cash instead of the cheap plastic option. I suspect you have a huge banking lobby going on behind the scenes because people using cash means more branches need to be run, cash moved about, and more staff to handle it and especially higher insurance for their branches.

If you use plastic, anyone from any authority can even tell when you have bought a a pair of new knickers and matching bras. That's how open our lives have become.

Plastic is cheaper for the banks to handle, only paperwork, no need for the overheads. Also you can shut down a cash point at the blink of an eye to anyone you want to refuse. Cheaper business in banking means better profits towards their bonusus and dividends.

If there were a catastrophe and everything shut down or was destroyed cash would be useless. Matches, clean water, Bullets, guns, fishing rods and food would become high value and a barter system would evolve..

Grazie -

So, it seems this flyer is meant to identify suspicious behaviors (as a whole) and I'd say it's about a lot more then someone using cash to buy some goods - but it does allow for an inflammatory and presumptuous conclusion, doesn't it? This thread, that is.

Your argument fails logic.

if i had a dollar everytime someone tried to use that line id be "Rich" and ats would make threads about how they all hate me.

the arguement doesnt fail for these reasons.

and one self reliant doesnt need to government to rule them so what do they do? they regulate they legistate and they creat the nazi youth so to speak to rat out people who plan and prepare for their owns needs.

now in any other world that would make perfect sense but we live in this world and anyone who doesnt need the government they cant have the government has got to come in and save the day!!

ban guns only the feds have them. ban survivial supplies only the government will have them and when your standing there cold wet and starving with your hands out you will do anything for something to eat something to keep you warm etc.

its all about power the more power you have the less power government has and they cant allow that.

I don't think the problem for me is what they are looking for. For a trained and experienced law enforcement officer or security agent, it makes a great deal of sense. Although I would wonder about the experienced nature if this type of basic list is needed to remind them. No, the problem I have is the seeming desire to turn every tom, dick and harry into a little investigator running around trying to spot Osama's replacement in disguise.

NOTHING good can come from turning neighbors into spies and citizens into informers. The Soviets and other Communist nations tried this and while it worked well enough I suppose, the world it created for them to live in is nothing I want anything to do with.

The Irony.... The comedy... Is this a modern day Shakespearian satire betwixt Faust and De Debil whilst Elma Fudd anchors the the news headlines, claiming two dirty wratts 'ave beeen koorrt in de trapps while swappin' and fixin' their tin foil hatz?!!!.

...and these institutions are paid by tax payers.... obviously the state of confusion keeps people subordinated.

This I can relate to and I appreciate that you have an eye to the bigger picture. Dumbing down the issue serves only to alienate and/or annoy those who may otherwise find this an interesting topic... which should be about the techniques agencies employing to document, profile and keep track of public and what actions are being used as clues to those whom agencies feel should warrant a closer look, as well as how those agencies are seeking to involve the public in this watch is evolving rapidly, we should be paying attention to this evolution...

Really!

What terrorists?

In the history of the United States, has there ever really been a "terrorist threat"?

Was it ever as significant as the effects of real problems going un-addressed, such as road fatalities and heart failure.

Burn the Reichstag and you can have any war you want!
