ALL TREKKERS UNITE TO BUILD IT. A REAL ENTERPRISE.

All Trekkers Unite To Build A Real Starship Enterprise.

This is to put forward the proposal for the construction of a real Starship Enterprise.

Starship construction project.

The objective is to gather human resources together so that a real world Starship Enterprise could be constructed.

Here is the formal proposal:-

ALL TREKKERS UNITE TO BUILD IT:-
A REAL ENTERPRISE.

I have a great idea. Why dont all we trekkers unite together
and build a real STARSHIP ENTERPRISE on the ground.

Building it on the ground it will cost less then in space.
the cost will about a couple of billion dollars at least and of course we will not be able to launch it into space until someone develops anti-gravity or a new propulsion system.

(whats happened to that gravity cancellation technique that used a spinning superconducting disk.it was found that any object weighed less above it).

The best version to build would be ST:TMP version or ST:GENERATION ENTERPRISE-B version. It would be fully functional in every respect within the limits of current technology and would be self supporting by turning it into a very famous tourist attraction to rival that of the pyramids with people actually staying inside it like a hotel.

Just think what it would look like properly lit at night.
It would be an amazing sight and people would come from all over the world to visit it and stay in and pay for it.

Now some of you will say its too difficult to build but if sea going ships like the dream princess and other cruise liners can be build for around $600 million then it should not be difficult to build a fully functional STARSHIP ENTERPRISE for a couple of billion pounds.

SO LETS GET TOGETHER AND TURN
FANTASY INTO REALITY.

Just think what an inspiration for the star trek ideals and vision such a construction would represent.

Now you will say where are we going to get the money to build such a expensive ship.Well there are plenty of millionaires and billionaires who could be persuaded to invest in such a business venture and some of them may even be star trek fans.

We should get some seed money together first by setting up a web site and approaching various well connected business people to contribute and invest in the idea.

It should be sold as a business venture idea and Paramount would be obligated to help as well to bring it in to fruition as Gene Roddenburys original contract had a clause that Paramount would help if anyone came to them to bring the ideas into reality.

So lets get to work on the technical plans for the building of the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE and the business plans for bringing it into reality.

This is serious idea and i invite discussion and ACTION from all people who would like to help build a real STARSHIP ENTERPRISE and make the dream into reality.

Good luck

I made this post 30 minuts ago, regarding some of the technologies your ship might need. Humanmade wormholes a possibility?

Most likely a cover for another nuke carrying Platform to orbit earth

I am offering myself to build the ship's computer system. I am a veteran programmer of real time embedded systems with very good experience in C/C++/Ada, but I also have worked in other domains as well (mobile, server applications, databases).

For the impulse propulsion system, I propose nuclear detonations (project Orion). It can quickly propagate a spaceship to relativistic speeds.

I was wondering: would it be possible to cancel out the lack of gravity by using magnetism? magnets attract iron objects because iron has electrons, but we have electrons as well, don't we?

Ambitious but go for it.

I'd be much more interested in establishing a Vulcan society.

I admire your ambition, but this idea is hilariously insane. Even if you got the money to buy a large area of land, do you really think any sane person would give you planning permission for a full size starship enterprise / hotel tourist attraction. And I can imagine the health and safety people burying you in paperwork.

However, I wish you luck and will visit the ship when you finish it.

anyone here ever goto the star trek experience in las vegas? they really captured the feel of the enterprise, turbo lift, shuttle craft, and even suited up crewman. on top of that, when it was over, you could go eat at quark's bar.

man I really miss that show, oh well, supposedly they are gonna build a bigger and better one downtown.

OP, as far a an actual hotel attraction, a fully realized enterprise is not only feasible but probably something that would generate alot of fanfare and profit. as an actual attempt as a spacecraft,..............not so much.......

I'm no longer a Trekkie, was a huge fan up until last year when out of the blue it just didn't mean diddly to me anymore. (This is going from having several uniforms, models, props etc. down to nothing.)

But I'm half way decent with design, if you'd need some form of concept artist I could go at it. I have an old design I created back in 2002 that would work great as it's a single hull. Will post a rough draft a little later. I'd do it via my Wacom tablet, but I can't find my darn pen.

would rather see a deep space nine than an enterprise, just my opinion...lots of room for shops and stuff on the promenade.

Project orion is the most unsafe, most dangerous, and pretty much the most ridiculous idea humans ever had regarding space exploration.

And I say this without any offense to you of course, but lets be serious... we want to light up something that has so much power it can emulate an extinction level event?
(because it actually does)

I vote for the matter / anti-matter reactor ... hehe

Still anything that isnt ftl isnt really worth it...

I'll volunteer for the crew, as long as I don't have to wear a red shirt.

As long as I get a bag of popcorn, continued subscription to C-SPAN, and Politics is dominated by Klingon Societal views (at least when they are fighting against each other, otherwise we can keep shock collars on them to keep war out of the question). Pay per view fights would be quickly outmoded at the first shining of the bat'leth on the Senate floor.

I can see it now *daydream*.

"Point of order!"

"How about this point, defend yourself!" *Clang* *Klink* *Foosh!*

"Will the Senator from California please refrain from dueling with the Honorable Senator from Texas on the floor? We just had it cleaned!"

Ok, back on topic.

I wonder how they are going to do food supply. Obviously stocking the ship with enough supplies would make the ship excessively large, and most recycling tech is limited so those are out or not very feasible. Hydroponics maybe?

You would also have to figure out a way to shield the ship from interstellar debris (this is the Navigational Deflector's job on the Enterprise) and have a dedicated power system for it.

Lots of interesting questions go into the building of a starship in real life. How are they going to fuel it? What are the reasonable goals for exploration? How do you choose a crew?

yeah, id rather build DS9... or at least the enterprise D from next gen.

i went to the las vegas deal... but sadly i walked 2 whole endless massive hot las vegas blocks from the bus stop to get there, almost died of heat stroke... and now i cant remember a damn thing about it.. besides standing in line and talking to some Klingons.

There's a few new threads on ATS about the recent discovery of anti-matter particles caught in the magnetic fields of earth. Other planets in our solar system may also have them, maybe even more so around our gas giants. So you can harvest them, put them in an anti-matter magnetic bubble and use them to power the engines just like in real, err ST. You can also create and store anti-matter using particle accelerators.
