Bizzare noises captured above Kiev

Didn't know where to post this so please move if inappropriately placed!

I'd be interested to hear opinions on this recently uploaded you tube video.
It seems to sound like some kind of moaning recorded in Kiev this month, I'm not sure what to make of it although it sounds haunting.

I don't think this is the first time these noises have been recorded, if anyone has further information please share.
Almost sounds like the call of a mechanical whale!

Woah, it's an 11 minute video. But listening to the noises at the start, it really does sound like a mechanical whale.

Just a point to add. Sometimes when it is raining, the sound of the air rushing up the gutters and pipes in our house very often sound similar to that.
I noticed the video was taken in an apartment, so maybe that could be the cause?

Well I originally thought this was just another panic topic but it appears this is happening more and more frequently from all over the world so maybe there is something legitimate going on.

Will have to keep an eye on this development.

Interesting idea but the problem with that theory is that in these videos it isn't raining!

It also would beg the question as to why the noise has not been heard before, if it was simply caused by rain.

Factory or train station?

Just throwing it out there.

Id suggest translating the comments from people in the area.....

Id say construction as many of the people are saying

Big equipment makes funny, weird noises sometimes when moving, or moving things.

Id like to find the exact location so i can find a map

Yeah, I realised that after watching more of the video just now. For some reason thought it was raining.
But, there is some wind outside which occasionally picks up just before you hear the sound. That's what I was trying to say with respect to the sound being generated from the wind 'running' up the water drainage pipes.

EDIT: Similar to the idea of a natural Hydraulophone, but resulting from the air and/or water in the building's pipes (just a guess).

I wonder why people on the street don't seem to stop when the noises are there. Maybe the sound is localized to the building? Although I somehow doubt it, seeing as they video tape out the window.

Will keep an eye open on this one though. Thanks for sharing

Sounds like something large, heavy, and metallic is being pushed or pulled in increments. At times, you can hear the beeping of backup alarms. That would indicate that some possibly large equipment is moving something large, slowly.

First thought that comes to mind .....could it be the trumpets of the Apocalypse?

That sound seems to be of vehicles on a highway coming out of a tunnel or similar. Pointing the microphone to a pipe will create same effect. No motherships or space whales. Only a cheap trick.

lol....use some logic dude....a school is being constructed nearby as stated in some of the translated text i provided.

Im sure if you go through and translate every comment you will see a pattern emerge (its construction)

That sound is not normal and you people know it.

It does sound metallic, any idea if Kiev manufactures any large scale industrial type machinery?
Maybe all of this is simply from a factory in the surrounding area, never heard anything like it outside of video games - Half-Life 2 instantly springs to mind.

Could be a large frame being moved and having the same affect like a heavy school table being moved.

Id explain it as...

Construction is going on nearby, the lay out of the buildings the person is filming from is exaggerating the noise as the sound bounces from one block to another...creating an eery echo effect.

Ive heard similar noises next to large construction sites....different lay outs of building provide different acoustics.

I couldn't help noticing that the high rise blocks of flats in the background seem to look like they are derelict, could it be possible that they are being demolished and that is the source of this noise, it does sound a little like a mechanical scraping sound, the kind of sound that metal would make grinding up against concrete.

The day started out with the sun and several times there was an advancement on the day; I really could not see anyone out there that seemed to be effected by this anomaly. Perhaps the level of her dwelling could be capturing the distant sounds carried to her; I also noticed that once the child arrived and began to speak the sound went away as if the recording device was pulled in away from the window; but then eventually it began again, it just seemed odd.

It is all very creepy to me to look out amongst a concrete and steel jungle and see that people are living on top of one another and that they are comforted by looking at a view as being the expression of life worth living. At least there were a few very interesting sounding birds!

I once lived in a building like that for a short time in my life, I was on the 20th floor and I could feel the building sway! I limit myself to two floors only now! I will always live where the trees can grow taller than the houses.

If I heard this same thing in the sky where I am, I would swear that I am listening to one of the Angels Trumpets, but then I would sort of expect a much more dramatic expression; more frightening I suppose but hits you like nails on a chalkboard!

The woman recording this did not seem overly curious other than wanting to record it through an entire day.

I think you've got it correct, this is some kind of construction effort going on nearby. The sound must be vibrating of the high-rise buildings. Still sounds amazing!
