Alien Intentions

First of let me say I do believe in Aliens, although am skeptical that they have ever visited Earth. I just wanted to discuss what some possible intentions of Aliens could be. I will cover a few well known theories I and explain what I agree and disagree with.

I think we can all agree that any Alien race capable of interstellar travel would be far ahead of us in terms of technological advancements. This means everything from construction, medicine, biology, propulsion,waste management(Recycling), etc....


The Resource Theory(Hostile)
So this theory assumes that an Alien race wants our planet for it's resources. Either they require some kind of unique metal such as gold or they have overpolluted their own planet and need a new place to live. The gold theory does kind of makes sense, however we humans with our current technology can split and create new atoms in giant colliders. If Aliens needed gold I think they would have found a way to create it by now. Second a race so far advanced would have had some experience with recycling by now, if they polluted their planet I'm sure they could fix it.


As second point the entire concept of aliens coming here to wage war has always seemed a bit silly to me, at least in the way it is depicted in movies like "Independance Day" and "Battle LA". I think if a race was advanced enough and was capable of interstellar travel they could eliminate us without us ever knowing about it. They could create some kind of Virus to kill us, or similarly have some form of nanotechnology to do the same thing.

Slave Theory(Hostile)

In this theory they want to use the human race as slaves. This again seems a bit ridiculous. Essentially this is saying that an advanced alien race can travel lightyears to get here, but they can't build a few robots?


Farm Theory(Hostile)

In this theory essentially Aliens want us for food. Humans don't make for a huge serving unless you are american, and they take 20+ years to mature. What's wrong with beef?

Lab Theory(Indifferrent and Hostile)

In this theory we are essentially lab rats for experimentation. Unlike the previous 3 theories I would actually give this one a further look. If we humans found an Alien organism I think one of the first things some of us would do is cut it open.

Ancient Astronaut(Indifferrent)

Similar to Lab theory in a way...
- We were genetically created and placed here by advanced Aliens as an experiment.
- Or... We are descendants of an Alient culture that colonized or perhaps crashed on the planet.
- Or... We evolved on our own but Aliens gave us knowledge


Zoo Theory(Indiferrent)

We are essentially a conservation area or exhibit for other races to come see. If this was the only reason for our continued existence I doubt our technology would be allowed to progress as it has been.

Protectionism(Indiferrent)

Essentially they are here to protect the continued evolution of our planet and to prevent us from destroying ourselves. Or to protect us from another race.

Contact(Indiferrent)

They are here to make contact, which may also be a combination of other theories. They may want to study or protect us as well.

They are not alien(Indiferrent)

This is the idea that another sentient race evolved in parallel or before the human race. They may have been here all along. This would explain old monuments and megaliths supposedly created before the time of man.




In terms of my personal opinion, if they were already here I would assume it is a combination of Contact,Protectionism and Study since that is what we humans would do. We constantly want to learn more about life, we want to make contact(SETI), and in terms of protectionism we humans are still arguing about the best way to drill into Lake Vostok because we don't want to contaminate bacteria that may be living there. Similarly if we don't even want to harm bacteria, why would Aliens want to eliminate sentient life on another planet?

Most of the Hostile theories mentioned above offer no advantage to a superior race. Unless a serial killer version of ET decides to visit Earth. Although that would before more a psychological disorder.

I am interested to hearing everyones theories on this matter.

You will never know until they come here and tell you.

That about sums it up. The rest is just our best guesses.

Well spot on. S+F. I think they are/will be here for Study only. If I was a race I wouldnt want to get mixed in with Humans and their emotions.

Resources Theory has always been beyond stupid


Plenty of stars out there let alone planets that wont fight back, and that are inhabited by unique species that they will want to ensure keep there rock,


I think its highly likey that if indeed they are coming here from other parts of the galaxy, universe or multi dimensions then they will look upon us as man does discovery new species in the Amazon or Papua New Guinea,

It is likely they are super advanced and would be almost Nomad like, after out living there own solar system they would have been force to go Nomad and would most likely travel the from galaxy to galaxy consuming raw materials to keep up with there own population growth/housing, then travel in large fleets


In up to a thousand years time, we may need another earth?, lets think, these advance being could be up to a million years more advanced, and after terror forming other body's in there solar system, there will come a time when the next step would be to mine many many more other planets/moons to escape a solar system about to go bye bye,


This is why when we see such large objects surrounding our sun its not hard for me to accept if they are indeed really there, then they could possibly be one such advance civilization that is using OUR SUN as a power source, even using it to travel the vast reaches of space,

I hope they are real and if they been here the whole time and knew about us then they deserve a punch in the face for the deception

When I think about the intentions of a superior race somewhere out there, I take up the assumption that they have embraced good intentions/love to get there. IMO that is how greatness is achieved. I'm a believer in higher consciousness, and to embrace that one must be full of love and light.

On the other hand, you could have a race that could have mastered the opposite. I don't consider them superior to us. This just supports good vs evil.

So I suppose it's what humans have drawn towards themselves that will matter in the end.. if at all relevant.

I am actually a believer in God and creationism at a basic level. If god was creating man in 7 days I don't think he would just kick back and take a 4 billion year vacation though. I think he would be creating other species, so perhaps Demons(Aliens) came before us. Anyway that's for a religious topic lol...

I do believe that they are here, and that when the time is right they will show themselves to be a benevolent species, here for one reason, and that is to save us from...well, from us.

We have strayed. Our values have declined, and we have little respect for this planet and the creatures we share it with.

This planet is roughly 4.5 billion years old and we are a relatively young species. There are a lot of theories you could go about, but the one that makes the most sense to me is the Hollow Earth theory. Instead of traveling great distances to get here, they could be right underneath our feet. More is known about celestial bodies in outer space than the deepest depths our ocean, PLUS much of the inner Earth, below the crust has not been explored. Look at it this way (I strongly agree with the Ancient Astronaut theory). There are MANY archaeological sites where monuments are constructed with the kind of precision that our modern tools could only do. Plus there are many societies that have been lost to us underwater which could set the date back for man's supposed jump to a complex society.

I don't know if they are here or not, but if they are here than I think they would have to be benevolent. I can't think of many reasons for us to still be alive if they weren't.

I can't say I am a true believer in the hollow earth theory, but it does fascinate me quite a bit. Actually I don't think there is a single theory that interests me more than the hollow Earth. I just wish there was some proof to support it.

In terms of sunken cities I think Hy Brasil and Atlantis were likely real since the mediterranean alone has something like 200 known underwater cities. Though I think they are/were real I don't know if I would agree that they had advanced technology. Again though I hope for proof to one day be found.

I tend to believe this is one of the more plausible theories. Not to mention it could explain their appearance, if the depictions are truly what they look like. Living beneath the surface where light may be scarce could offer up one explanation for their large eyes and pale skin. Just a thought.

and maybe we eventually completely manage to change the earth by pollution and they are coming back like guided bus tours to see trees and animals that are extinct in their time?

I think it's currently a mix of protection (perhaps alien species intervening with our nuclear testing to prevent us harming parallel realities, or reducing the impact of the Japan nuclear disaster) and using us as a resource (mainly the grays) as a way of studying and using our reproduction to help reverse their situation (they supposedly eliminated it in their society through the over-use of cloning).

That said, the primary intention of most alien species is likely to be to establish a connection with us, when they feel we have reached a high enough level of civilization that would not make first contact fearful or prompting drastic action (eg. we try to shoot them down!)

Supposedly there is a 'hands-off quarantine' that is preventing alien races contacting us until after December 21st, 2012. Many races will begin to initiate contact around 2025 - 2033 (source).

We could also be an offshoot of genetic manipulation between early Earth hominids and alien species, which could mean they are our biological relatives so to speak!

As you mentioned earlier "they" would be very much ahead of us in every aspect including possibly ethics, values, spirituality, intent, and the who knows what else. There could be nefariousness involved at some level. The theories seemed a little narrowly defined. There could be a number of reasons as to why they might be here. Perhaps there are a number of narratives playing out from different species.

I wonder if either, we are related to a more advanced and further evolved human type (the Nordic perhaps like in the Walton incident), or perhaps we were seeded on Earth by them to see how a sub species of theirs would advance and evolve when given our free will and souls. Some how it seems to me that they are some how responsible for overseeing and tweaking our evolution and tinker here and there. Certainly with our nukes anyway.

Another possibility is that a hybrid program is in place due to genetic fatigue in their DNA and we as humans will help them preserve the best of their specie when combined with our fresh gene pools.

Who knows for sure?

Precisely! A lot of the accounts of people who have been abducted claim they saw E.T.s with pale skin. What if some type of catastrophe occurred (possibly the one that wiped put the dinosaurs) caused them to move underground and adapt w/out the need for melanin. That could even explain why "greys" have large eyes and frail bodies. Is there lower gravity underground?

Great thread! It's nice to have the mind prodded, and for that, I thank you! But you may have missed at least one possibility. And that's this; they're scientists, they're coming to see how differently life on this planet is to theirs. And how diverse. People often often say that aliens wouldn't come here, because humans are boring. Pretty arrogant, eh? Maybe they come here to see the Coral Reefs, or the beautifully coloured birds that captivated and inspired Darwin? (Ha! Maybe Darwin WAS an alien!) . Or to see a Giraffe? And wonder at the mechanics of its neck? Or a bioluminescent, deep sea jellyfish? You know? The mad, stroby-flashy-reddy-greeny ones? Or the mavel that is a Seahorse? Or to collect a leaf or two, for further examination? Maybe they have nothing but sand, water and really crappy gravity.Maybe they invented star travel, just because Earth's sunsets are legendary in the Milky Way, because they're easier on the eye. Silly binary star system! Maybe I've drunk too much! Call me mad, but we're just animals, and they'll see us as such. Probably do. Look at the Earth from space, and tell me, if you were a passing intersolar/galactic scientist, you wouldn't "pop in" for a quick sample or two? ( Especially if you knew that the idiots on the surface couldn't catch you)? And you know what I mean by "passing"- no need to get anal regarding distances! lol! I'm aware we havn't found life out there, yet. But you have to admit that the abundancy, and diversity, of life on Earth would make it a beacon to communicating aliens. It would certainly explain countless, countless reports of "occupants" collecting, peacefully, bits -and-bobs from plants and animals! Not to mention the myriad craft and/or occupant reports from reliable witnesses. I think, if they have visited, it's been purely scientic. No? Cheers, OP. S&F for the stimulation!

if these guys are so old and traveled,

they have to have seen other life in all stages of development.


there maybe more than 1 out there, too, maybe many.


they have to have and remember their own history, too.

i would go with the idea they were here in the past and "helped" out but then once things were in motion,

on to the next project.



what would we actually do in their position? hollywood not withstanding.
