DNA discovered in meteorites

lightyears.blogs.cnn.com

NASA researchers have found the building blocks of DNA, the genetic molecule that is essential to all life forms, in meteorites, pieces of space rock that have fallen to Earth. The discovery suggests that similar meteorites and comets may have impacted Earth and assisted in life formation here.

Does anyone think this news is very timely with other things(s) that may be coming about in the next few months? Everything is so timely lately! Crazy weather, increased earthquakes occurring during alignments with that incoming celestial body I won't mention, I could go on. But it seems to me they are really making an effort to get some truth out before things get hairy.

can 2011 get any better? we've found out that:

-there's water on mars
-there's clouds on mars
-fireworks kill birds (but only on new years)
-looting is a form of revolution
-raising the debt ceiling is the best method for handling financial issues
-schools should be the first to lose money when they cut the budget
-homeless people can be tazed to death without explanation
-killing non-muslim teenagers is the best way to handle your frustration with muslims
-elenin is nothing but a pebble with a 124,000 mile long tail
-fake birth certificates are easy to come by

.... and now there's dna on meteorites!???!

Absolutely, information like this is aimed directly at the mass public who are still 'asleep'.

Meteorites = spaceships

Alien disclosure here we come!

False, spun title. Adenine and guanine are nucleobases, not the DNA molecule. Another one on the list of terrible CNN headlines, right up there with GJ1214b being "habitable".

You know what I think it is ? It's the human waste from people who have gone on various space missions. They release their waste into space. Some may have splashed onto meteors close to earth and when they fell into orbit. The waste came back.

Thanks what I think.

thanks for the link... i find it interesting that they found adenine yet no thymine.. and guanine but no cytosine..... maybe the annunaki added the other half for us..

Yawn.

I already knew this. We came from outer space. Not from earth.

I guess I should also add like one of the other posters did:

IT'S ABOUT TIME THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA MADE IT FRONT PAGE NEWS!

Let's see where they go from here!

It really is as if the many small steps that we see mentioned on these boards are playing themselves out.

I'm still concerned with contamination. If they don't basically catch one falling from the sky before impact with our atmosphere it will never actually count for a lot of people.

I hope NASA releases the exact conditions under which these things were kept over time and then unearthed.

There is really no reason why this would predict 'disclosure' and it really does not mean we come from outer space.

What it may do is answer the question posed by Abiogenesis, which is the question of which came first; nucleic acids or amino acids.

en.wikipedia.org...

Amino acids occur throughout nature, independent of living systems; but they are organized by nucleotides (made from nucleic acids) to be turned into proteins.

These nucleic acids from space may very well answer the question of which came first.

So the protein replicators may have come from space but I don't think it is accurate to say that we did.

The interesting thing is that the replicators are little pattern makers; so where did they get the pattern?

By the same logic, glass is breathable as it contains oxygen (SiO2).

I love the idea of panspermia, it makes scientific sense to me, but this is not a proof.

Also, alcohol has been detected in the spectra of radio emissions in deep space objects. Does that mean someone has been fermenting and distilling it, then spraying it into the void?

You need to closely evaluate the actual data and not extrapolate waaaaay beyond.

It's not really CNN, its a blog....affiliated with CNN.

Now if it was on the homepage, I'd be impressed. This is like saying NASA admitted life on mars....but it's actually on Space.com's blogs. It just doesn't life up to the hype.....

If I see a little green man climb out of a meteorite, I'll make my own decision.
