www.osha.gov...

Tooling around the DOL site and found this gem.

Please watch and enjoy as I clearly say the lacking of something and one of the captions is highly offensive.

Don't see what you're aiming at.

Except they picked a dead ugly poster girl.

What specific part of the page am I supposed to be looking at? The rotating static images in the center don't seem to show much more than farm workers and construction. Seems appropriate for a site dedicated to heat effects?

Watch it again.
Seems to be lacking something/someone or just sectioning something/someone out.

We always provide gatoraide to supply NaCL and KCl. Loss of electrolytes is a real big problem when working in above 95 degree weather.

I don't know but I found the entire thing offensive. "You'll last a little longer with a little shade" and such.
To be honest it creeped me out.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Predominantly, Mexicans work in the fields so they have Mexicans in the adds. Would you prefer Justin Bieber?

Looks like they are trying to save lives. Possibly Mexican lives... Is that what you found offensive?

Considering that fact that the Govt is supposed to be blind to race and so on, it is offensive.
To depict manual labor as only performed by Latinos is racial.
Govt funds used to create a photo montage that is supposed to help all, surely represents only some.

They even state that they are targeting those that do not speak English as a first language, ie: Mexicans.

Many of the new resources target vulnerable workers with limited reading skills or who do not speak English as a first language.

haha, that's the same quote that stood out to me...
"you'll postpone death for a little while if you stay in the shade."
That whole page is creepy, but that quote especially.

it looks cheaply done they would have just used the workers that were about maybe. but the shade comment is a bit double edged to people who see race. i don't think it was intentional

You read into this way too much. However now that you pointed it out, I can't stop laughing about all the Latinos and the "A little bit of shade goes a long way" quote. But seriously, you have to be creative to get racism out of that. Pick your battles man.

Still, it was a fun thread.

Oh, and there was a white guy.
