But now that we know this..I guarantee there are Science geeks with magnifying glasses, nuzzling up to poo all over the world to see if there is a relative of this fungus that might be even faster!

Actually I'd say it's an excellent example of standard evolutionary theory.

The fungi that don't throw the spores far enough to land in clean grass... simply don't get eaten. Eventually all that are left are the ones that DO throw the spores far enough. Survival of the fittest. The ones with the odd genetic mutation that allow for wider distribution eventually replace the ones that lack the ability.

No intelligent design needed.

If I'm not mistaken..it's a type of mushroom..? He did mention that it was fungus and it grew on horse poop. Mushrooms grow in cow poop and is also a fungus. If somebody has a better explanation for what this could be please comment and let me know.
