Verizon landline workers are currently staging a massive strike stretching from Massachusetts to Virginia. They’re protesting cutbacks as a result of declining business. But as they try to win the hearts, minds, and wallets of their employer (and even the public), you got to think the video you‘re about to see certainly won’t help.
A video was posted on YouTube yesterday shows an alleged Verizon picketer going berserk at what appears to be replacement workers or management trying to cross the picket line in a Verizon truck. The man, however, is not alone. In the video, his daughter ca

So since the decline of landline usage in America spreads, the Verizon workers go on strike. What a crazy world this is.
Need for a product goes down, a company is forced to let people go and they stomp their feet and yell "nah ah".
Not only do they stomp their feet, they go off on tantrums to the people filling in for the protestors, block business and then post it as if this is the right thing to do.
Crazy

I watched the video and have to ask - how do we know this isn't staged?
A solitary "union protestor" confronts a Verizon truck and starts dropping the F-bomb in front of his daughter. This strike me as odd - where are all the other protestors? Who was operating the camera? The fact the camera man was only feet away from the protestor and presumably his daughter makes me think they were aware of his/her presence. If the camera operator was part of the protest (and pro-union) then why would they release this video? If they were hostile to the protestor or the union, then why was the man screaming and acting completely oblivious to it's presence?
How hard would it be for a corporation to stage a phony protestor lashing out at one of their employees/truck and casting the whole union in a bad light? Put a doe-eyed little girl in the mix and suddenly the union looks like evil trolls.
Considering how easy it is to fake anything these days we need proof this was a bonafide union employee of Verizon and not some trick of that company to turn public opinion against said union.

ironically, you fail to mention these same workers install FIOS (a massive bundled home communications network). so while your beloved Verizon may indeed see a downtick in landlines I am sure the amount of business they recieve from FIOS subscribers easily dwarfs that down tick. it's the same old story; corporations taking from their employees to line their executives / shareholders pockets. (and for some reason you OP defend it ~ ?????). any workers rights oriented individual would boycott Verizon ......... in a heartbeat.
They said they're resisting management proposals that would freeze worker's pensions and have them start contributing to health care premiums.
If you read the whole story, you would find that the Union website was the original source of the video.

The man, however, is not alone. In the video, his daughter can be seen holding a strike sign and standing in front of the vehicle. Still, that didn’t stop him from launching into a hate-filled speech against the other men, calling them “losers,“ ”scumbags,“ and ”scabs,” all the while mixing in profanity

They're not simply protesting cutbacks due to land line reduction. They're protesting the freezing of pensions. That's not cool at all!

Personally, I side with them about the premiums too; but I can understand falling on the other side.

How is the employer wrong? All telecommunication Providers have seen a massive drop in Land Lines, so they must cut the departments.
I have worked with/alongside Union Telecom guys. About 90% will not do anything but their specified job, and even that is very limited in responsibilities and duty's. So, it does not surprise me that they would rather picket line the buildings then offer to be retrained or look for another job.
