Does anyone her have the common sense to see that the lower ranking members of the military are slaves to the higher ranking officers and politicians? Your average us soldier is just a scared kid out of high school that had no idea what they were getting into, and don't forget they are brainwashed too. These kids are victims of the crooked us government! Common sense people!

It is interesting to be judged for supporting the troops, even if you do so wisely and not blindly. Apparently it is nationalistic and nerpy (what ever that means), just for openers.

But for arguments sake, let us just say I blindly support the troops, no questions asked, the tree outside my house has a ginormous yellow ribbon around it and my friends are thinking of committing me because I hum John Philip Sousa marches all day.

There is no reason ever not to support our troops. It is how you do it. Even if you are anti-war, anti-standing armies, anti-military-industrial complex and are socialist through and through, it's not cricket. Most socialist countries do not see the need for the artillery and military manpower we Americans keep around and I can see some budgetary corners we could cut.

BUT, if you are a voting US citizen, you are running this country and you have sent our troops overseas along with a b*ttload of the rest of us. And if you use the excuse that "I did not vote for that or this..." WELL,having two faces does not count! Fine! Do what a responsible US citizen should do. Help the Anti-War vets against our involvement in the Middle East and get crackin'! Bring 'em home for heavens sake! Not supporting the troops is like hiring someone in your business and then sabotaging them when they try to make you money.

I am not a student of war. For some this is fascinating and I wish I knew one right about now. Here is the crux of the matter. Where does debate turn into cruel judgement, name calling and; the degrading of peoples choices, commitments and lives.

Turning the tables on our troops after they are in battle...hmmm..reminds me of Vietnam. They went in heroes and came out getting spit on, yelled at, ignored and despised. Not this time folks, not ever again.

Ok do you believe there is ever a time for war? If yes then under what circumstances? I almost feel that people who think there should be no war are very naive or brain washed themselves. This is real life and we haven't even came close to the point of evolution where there will be no war. And what do you feel is wrong with the current conflicts going on in the world?

Thats why we look down on Civilians because we some how let the few people like yourself , relate to all of the American people.

Wars will cease ONLY when men stop fighting in them!
Everyone wants wars to cease, well, apart from blood thirsty savage beasts!

I have spoken to many young soldiers from the u.s and everyone i have spoken to has said they did not want to do it but they did it to get into college and for money otherwise they would starve or be on welfare.

So in really simple terms, The youth of America is being blackmailed by the u.s government to murder on a mass scale and steal and pillage land and resources or basically starve and rot!

That's correct is it not?
So why are there not MASSIVE petitions about this? Strikes Protests etc EVERY SINGLE DAY?

That should be a daily topic on news radio web until this savage blackmail is resolved.
Can it not get any clearer that your country you all claim to love so much is being ruled by psychopathic blood thirsty thieves?

Personally speaking i would rather starve to death than go around killing people but that's just me!

Also i believe that anyone who thinks that going around the world killing on a mass scale and stealing resources is going to make their country or people safer is quite frankly lacking functioning neurons and basic thought patterns!

Nearly every country in the world has enough tech and soldiers to place them all around the borders of their WHOLE country to protect their country and people incase of an attack! That is the ONLY justification for armed forces to exist imho! Everything else is outright murder and theft!

this is something I have kept to myself for 30+ years..
I have felt the way the writer did about war in general..
I have never subscribed to the yellow ribbon for troop support.. it never made sense to me.
War is business.
Defending a country may be a legitimate purpose, but nothing about our generated reasons seemed
right,,hidden agendas have been on many minds..

The simple fact is: There has been NO American military action SINCE WW2 that has had absolutely ANYTHING to do with any AMERICAN'S freedom(s)!!!! The only "argument" to the contrary of that fact is based STRICTLY on emotion and rhetoric - NOTHING else. No logic, no facts. Yet of course the sheeple continue to bleat their jingoistic Orwellian mind control crap no differently than a Jonestown-style brainwashed cult. Religion doesn't apply solely to the traditional, literal definition of religion. Keep drinking that Kool Aid, sheeple (to whom it applies). Sad doesn't begin to describe it.

Yes that is what I mean by effective. That is what war is about after all and you've kind of proved my point by referencing the Nazi's. You must follow orders to be effective and if you have people that are allowed to question orders and pick and choose what actions they want to take you will not have an army that is effective at killing.

This is what military's do and why they are created.

George Washington said it very well when his soldiers were deserting and the war looked like it would be lost. He said, "You can fight a war for independence but independence cannot win a war"

Maybe more guys trained to kill other guys with weapons isn't what we need right now?
