Maybe Iran have been watching Bruce Willis in Die Hard 4 - fire sale!

unlikely they can attack the internet - the internet is routed through so many locations it would not be easy and probably impossible

however certain sites/locations could be targeted, but even hackers and anon and co, all they can usually do is change a site's appearance, or bring a site down on temporary basis via DDOS etc

in a smarter world, I remember a good comment by a singer years back who said he was invited to perform at the white house, his recommendation - "Jimmy Carter should tell the Russians, get your troops out of Afghanistan, or no more Levis!"

with the economy in the current state I doubt Obama could hire cave men to throw rocks at Iran

many consider the abacus to be the first computer. i think the abacus been used in china and india for thousands of years.

i guess one has to specify by definition with some technologies. there has been many firsts, and more will follow.

this is a quote from the dumb ass bbc article that starting all the misunderstanding about the subject.

By splitting data into packets and threading them on the same line, the carrying capacity of that link could be boosted and the whole network made more powerful.

Roger Scantlebury, who worked with Dr Davies, presented the ideas about "packet switching" to a conference in the US, where they were picked up by the creators of the nascent Arpanet, the fledgling internet.

Does that mean Britain invented the internet?

"Yes and no," said Mr Scantlebury. "Certainly the underlying technology of the internet, which is packet switching, we did invent."

British researchers also worked on hyperlinks, another crucial Internet technology, way back in the early 1970s.

David Yates was project manager of a program called Scrapbook which rolled together word processing, e-mail and hypertext - a system that incorporated many elements of the World Wide Web.

Scrapbook went live on 28 April 1971...Scrapbook helped people across the 28 acres of the NPL campus collaborate or projects without having to sit next to each other.

Clearly, the British had developed many of the technologies that went into the Internet. And Tim Berners-Lee, is a Brit and he invented the world wide web...

So maybe the British did invent the Internet but with typical British modesty, didn't want to blow their own horn. At least until now.

No the British didn't invent the internet America did. Leonard Kleinrock an American is the man who invented the method of packet switching and Lawrence Roberts was the scientist to finally utilize the proposed method of packet switching. Later Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf worked to modify the original method of packet switching pioneered by Roberts and Kleinrock and eventually created what is now known as the TCP/IP protocols. It was at this point when ARPANET was finally changed to the more easily pronounced Internet.

Have you ever heard of the Janet network which was invented by UMIST Manchester England to connect to other Universitys accross the country to transfer large pieces of data. No.... thought not. That was the idea the internet spawned out of so yes the Brits DID invent the internet as we know it.

Look at the top i said this is the dumb ass article from the BBC that has every body misunderstanding the subject. Basically i think the same way you do about the subject being in the IT field my self
The point i was trying to make is they fooled them self's into believing they created it just cause some jack off said so.No British you didn't create the internet sorry now politely screw off.

Yeah, it was totally cool how our government overthrew Iran's democratic government so they could place a dictator in place who would cooperate with their oil. Then Iran has a revolution and takes hostages at the U.S. embassy (the very same embassy the government staged the coup to over-throw their democratic government)

Because of that Iran was disillusioned with democracy and turned to a theocracy that is hostile towards the U.S. For justifiable reasons. Though maybe you only know the story that the U.S. history books in public high schools tell you.. that evil Iran took hostages at a U.S. embassy without telling what we did to them, and the real reason hostages were taken at the embassy.

See... you managed to do all that stuff... and science still cant give you a brain

You are an ignorant boy with a narrow vision and too close minded to see what its really happening around you. I love the US, I used to live there... have many friends there and only for them and for all those good people I know americans are, I really dont want to see anything bad happening there.

If all americans were like you, I would be itching for someone to bring down the us to rubble... you have no respect for anything nor you deserve the respect of anyone. You ridicule and slander one of the most ancient civilizations on earth, probably the most ancient and "still alive" talking about compact discs and light bulbs... you're so naive.

I'm not a hater, I just hate people like you that think you're so above everything and everyone else. If anyone in power, the ones making the decisions are like you, then pray for the best kid... and expect the worse. Will be nice to see how you cope without "your world".

Btw... have you noticed that both you and an iranian bleed red? Think about it.

oh please its not the persion anything anymore than most people complain about isreal becoming isreal again get a grip on the times man

The only way they could do anything remotely is with the help of someone else because there is no way that they could trump us with technology on any level alone.

China and Russia are the two big allies of Iran so id look there first if something did happen but large scale i still dont see that

Actually most would argue that Konrad Zuse of Germany invented the computer, or at least a freely programmable computer.

And the internet was initially created by ARPA or Advanced Research Projects Agency in the United States during the late 1950s to the 1970s

On Topic: Iran doesn't have to do anything, China is already handling it, the other day it was revealed that China has been hacking us the last 5 years..Just compare China's new stealth fighter with the J-35

edit on 9-8-2011 by Kingbreaker because: (no reason given)

Not too sure about China.

I do believe that elements within the system are paid off to be able to leave few lose ends on purpose for the Chinese to be able to accomplish their activities...err hacktivities

Money talks and thats all there is to it. How easy or difficult do you think it would be to buy/scare a DOD contractor working on crucial project(s)?
KGB was known for it and so are other intelligence agencies around the world including ours (CIA). It is not as easy as the rest of the world/MSM make it seem that every single hack job was initiated completely from within China or any other country. Usually the ground work has to be carried out by someone from within.

Iran are correct....

The way it unfolds is going to be like this:

1) Iran strikes the US Naval fleet in the middle east, winning a decisive strike against the USA, makes 9/11 look like a cut finger in comparison with regard to loss of life.

2) US President Barak Obama then uses Nuclear weapons against Iran, starting WWIII, Russia and China engage the USA with military might.

3) Western society fails, complete breakdown of law, order and the financial markets, Dollar, Pound, Euro crumble.

4) Islam rules the World for the next 1000 years bringing in the age of the "Golden Era"

5) There isn't a 5.

The US has been spending trillions upon trillions on defense. We have weapons right out of science fiction.

Enough is enough, blow Iran to pieces with HAARP and deny, deny, deny. If Russia and China want some of this we have plenty of nukes we can ship them, free of charge.

Whats disgusting is invading country after country and trying to 'help' these savages be more like us, promoting democracy.

We should help those that want to be helped. If terrorist want to threaten us, we need to just level them.
