It's getting rather interesting. I threw this thread on the board this morning regarding the increase in the calls for Hillary to run against Obama in a primary. The dissent is growing especially amongst the center leaning democrats who were thought to support Hillary in the 2008 primary. Many of them tossed Obama a bone back then and now they want it back.

I believe Hillary will run and win in 2016 and is right now padding up her resume. I think Obama will be voted out and we'll have 4 years of a republican version of Obama until then.

lol why has obama been such a dissapointment? How about asking the people who were bashing him before he was elected??

He's been president for almost 4 years now and literally hasnt done a single significant thing to change this country. If anyone says otherwise please explain in detail what obama has accomplished.

I would but this would be like writing in the sand on the beach. The next big wave and you forget all over again.

It will be interesting to see how all of the markets react today because S&P just downgraded Fannie and Freddie (rightfully so) and some feel that they will start to downgrade individual states next. I would imagine California to be the first to take that hit. Reality is checking in...

Please let us NOT FORGET the giant turd we have as a congress, that has become a tumor on what used to be government in this republic.
The thinnest hair on my head has more strength than this governing body, it's pathetic and has been for decades.
It's NOT all Obama, or Bush, or whomever,
it started long ago with a silent populace allowing themselves to be led to destruction, then crying about it.
WE are to blame for this crap.

Excellent point! How do we move forward with an overhaul of congress (term limits) when these goons are still the ones making the calls. There needs to be a push for a national referendum. It was attempted back in 1995-1996 and I think the nation needs to move now more than ever. Its gotta stop...

What I'd like to know is how long the NYT has been plagerizing my posts!

The fact that some papers are now edging towards the truth like a coyote towards a wounded ferret is besides the point.
The media has become irrelavent.
We've always known the truth.

At least we don't have to borrow somebody else's.

If that was an attempt at wit, you've failed miserably - and in doing so have proven my point.

Slllllloooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

Don't worry, keep after it... it takes practice to get smarter.

Back to Obama... I am still amazed that the mouth-breathers that voted for him still support him. The guy is the epitome of abject failure - in everything he touches. He is the Anti-Midas with the leaden touch. He killed any prospect of an economic comeback. He's killed the country's financial prospects. He has killed jobs and growth. He's killed out healthcare system. He has pretty much killed anything that used to be "American". At this point, only fascists or corporatists can applaud this guy. To his supporters... which one are you?

Did anyone bother to read up on the author of this article? Did anyone even question "why a psychologist"? Or did you just jump at it because - - its negative to Obama? More Obama bashing.

Whenever anyone presents an article - - - first thing I do is research the author.

Below is just the most interesting article I read in regards to Drew Westen. There are many more.

Drew Westen's Nonsense

There are some strong criticisms to be made of the Obama administration from the left, especially concerning Obama's passive response to the debt ceiling hostage crisis, and his frightening willingness to give away the store to John Boehner. I've made many of these criticisms myself. But Drew Westen's lengthy, attention-grabbing Sunday New York Times op-ed is not a strong criticism. It's a parody of liberal fantasizing.

Westen is a figure, like George Lakoff, who arose during the darkest moments of the Bush years to sell liberals on an irresistible delusion. The delusion rests on the assumption that the timidity of their leaders is the only thing preventing their side from enjoying total victory. Conservatives, obviously, believe this as much or more than liberals. But the liberal fantasy has its own specific character. It is unusually fixated on the power of words. Before Westen and Lakoff, Aaron Sorkin has indulged the fantasy of a Democratic president who would simply advocate for unvarnished liberalism (defend the rights of flag burners, confiscate all the guns) and sweep along the public with the force of his conviction.

In time, many Americans will thank what President Obama had courageously done, if not now.

If the debt ceiling had not been raised and USA allowed to default by both stubborn Republicans and Democrats, HOARDERS of money will REALLY hide their wealth under their pillows after withdrawing from the casino stock markets.

At least when USA did not default, some of those hoarders know that America will still honour its debt, credit rating drop or whatever crap, and thus had slushed their hoards into American banks across the nation that pays no interest, and most funny of all, are that they are willing to PAY interest to banks to hoard their wealth.

And those funds are TRILLIONS, which means USA is flushed with cash today. If USA gov play its card right to rationalize social expenditure only for the truly needy, create jobs in both manufacturing and service industries, fund research into future tech, use current tech to improve its economic social structure, Americans will be well off within 3 years and with its GDP excesses, help the rest of mankind from the clutches of gamblers.

Extremist partisans from both parties best do some soul searching soon when the excitment of watching the casino stockmarket collapse is over.

I laughed... and you know what?
That is all that matters.

I am all I can control. I cannot control you, nor do I wish to.
Now I don't think I even care to engage you in conversation since you are not very pleasant and without a sense of humor. Ahhh typical. If anyone is bringing "the miserable"....it ain't me babe.
Good luck changing anything.

Interesting....I predict you will get a lot of one liners from people

I'm sorry people from the New Republic have no credibility to me.

attempting to discredit or ignore it all as fantasy. People do not want to know the truth. Sticks in their craw.

The author, a senior editor at the New Republic, is best known for declaring I hate President George W. Bush in 2003.

This book traces the roots of his dislike back 30 years, when supply-side economics took over the Republican Party and made cutting taxes the GOP answer to all political and economic questions.

American politics has been hijacked by a tiny coterie of right-wing economic extremists,

Chait declares, some of them ideological zealots, others merely greedy, a few of them possibly insane.

To which he adds, the Republicans' success at defeating the democratic process explains why it has been able to enact its agenda despite a lack of popular support.

The rhetoric is inflammatory, but the case is laid out with clarity.

I researched the New Republic too. I suspect most publication would have similar histories.

Jonathon Chait - - - His writing has also appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Slate and Reason. He took over The New Republic's TRB column from Peter Beinart in March 2007.

His columns from 2008 are a finalist for the National Magazine Award, in the category of best commentary.

I like his individual writing. Don't care who he is affiliated with.
