Sorry but this is bull***t MEDIA BLACKOUT! Londons BURNING! Yes London is burning from thugs that are looting shops and there is not a news black out and thay are using the shooting of the man in London to justify this and there is no bomb threats the only bomb’s are petrol bomb’s being thrown by the rioters

My understanding of the situation over the past few days over here is that it started with the shooting on thursday of black man in tottenham north london. Media at first reported him as some kind of jamaican yardie gangster with a gun. Police operation trident (gun crime) went to arrest him shots were fired and he was killed. Family of shot man disupted police and media explanation that he was involved in crime and shot first. Crowd gathered Saturday outside police station to demand more information and protest shooting. Police ignored their 'vigil' and no spokesman was sent to calm crowd. Eyewitnesses have said that young girl threw stone or missle and was batton charged by riot police. Crowd responded and more missiles thrown - the situation was getting out of hand and more riot police were drafted in. Cars, a bus, buildings were burned - looting started and continued as police decided to try to contain the situation in the area - they did not have sufficient numbers to intervene.

People soon realised that with the numbers of police containing riot in that one area, adjacent areas were left unpoliced - looting continued in the adjacent areas - shops and malls were broken into and torched - people were driving in from areas in cars and vans and carrying off loot - still no police - this went on until daybreak Sunday.

Sunday out came all the local politicians and 'community leaders' trying to calm the situation - still the police were unwilling to give details of shooting incident. Questions began to be asked as to police response to riot and why other areas were left unpoliced - why London was left to burn - many people lost their homes to the fires following looting (above shops etc).

Sunday night - police expecting trouble in tottenham were out in force. Looters were wise to this and once again chose an area unpoliced - Enfield - shops and business in high street were looted. Police moved to that area.
Looters in other areas of London decided it was open season - no police presence and a pattern of looting and setting fire to buildings was copied - walthamstow, brixton, streatham etc even a few shops in central london's oxford street. Police were only able to respond in small numbers and couldn't control what was happening. I|t was a really fast moving situation - the media couldn;t keep up - and they had already been attacked for taking pics and film the previous night so were probably reluctant or underresourced to cover all the stories - however on local london radio reports and eye witness accounts were coming in thick and fast.

Our prime minister, deputy, most of the government, London mayor, Head of metropolitan police are all away on holiday.

Who knows if this is a one off weekend or if realising the poor response to protecting peoples homes, businesses and lives the mob will continue.

The youth across the pond in London have been frustrated for a while now. I'm not sure if these rioters are from that same group though.

And although i think people all over the world are waking up, and are realizing that they need to take back some of their power and freedom, i do NOT condone this violence.

I understand that sometimes fire needs to be fought with fire, but this won't do anything but turn citizens against you, hurt innocent people( ) , and send you to jail.

your talking about the riots in london and the media are reporting on it....infact the home page of www.thesun.co.uk hasnt changed in 48 hours because of it.

It was breaking news on the TV the morning after it happened

they deffinately ARE reporting...photos of some of the criminals are in the papers already...damage reports and politician statements are out.

Here we go again with a self fulfilling prophecy based on a false statement:

Organised groups of criminals are now looting the shops, and have just used this as an excuse for raiding. There is a lot people are not mentioning about the incident, why is that??? Why are people not asking questions about what happened here, such as why the person shot had a gun in the first place...no one seems to be bringing that up at all. There is such a higher ratio of criminals in London, and everyone is egged on by the lack of jobs, and wages vs prices. There is not a news blackout, it has just spread from one area so fast that its difficult to report with everything going on, I knew about this in the early hours of this morning. I fear this is just the beginning, the country is in a right state and there just doesnt seem to be enough Policing to deal with it all.

Absolutely disgusting that it is going on this way...

I can't believe so many people are most concerned about the freaking title...

I really don't understand what these people are trying to acheive. Their beef is with the police, fair play, I have little respect for the British police anymore, but what is destroying the livelyhoods of people who would probably have supported their cause in any other curcumstances, going to do to avenge the death of Mark Duggan?

The whole police complaints system here is run by the police! the IPPC is a load of crock, and does little to resolve police wrongdoing.

As for the media, all I have been able to watch on TV about this is highly biased BBC reports. The BBC work hand in hand with the police & government here, handing over their biased footage to the police, MI6 & other authorities willingly, before any court order has been presented to them, the BBC are dirt to say the least. I take BBC news about as seriously as the Easter Bunny or Santa. Online sources, possibly even twitter & youtube are the only way anyone is going to get access to a clear picture of what is happening in London right now.

Thanks for the briefing of events .Your version seems more realistic than the other one that has a shoot out happenning . Strange the police wont answer any questions. It seems almost like they are provoking this reaction.
I mean really , if the people just wanted a resonse and answers at the police station why didn't they make an official announcement to them

then to attack a 16 year old girl like that . definately provocation . then to not be seen when the riots starts , definately the same tactics that they use at G20 events when there are suspicious characters lighting suspicious police vehicals abandoned in the middle of streets in the path of oncoming suspicious persons dressed in black .
So you get what Im saying here . Alll very suspicious activity . Lets see how the holidaying polis respond and you will get your answer to the agenda going down

There is no blackout, it's featured on the news of every major station in the UK and is top headline on the BBC news web site.

RT had a reporter on the streets, in Enfield I believe (looked a bit nervous). Anyway she reported that the police had arrested kids as young as 7?!! Seriously crazy if that's the case...wtf...

Just to add, I do not condone any of this violence and looting...what is the result? A whole load more people out of jobs...people HAVE to stop attacking each other either directly or indirectly, it needs to stop or no one is going to win this but those that have been winning for decades...

The riots are because the police shot a black man for an unknown reason, this is on Sky news. I don't think they are reporting live when the riots are kicking off but it is in the media (here in the uk anyway).

It's on the early morning news here in the U.S. It seems that things are really a mess over there right now. I just hope that this violence doesn't spread to other parts of the world. There does seem to be some sort of revolution brewing between the have-nots and the haves, however this event would be the wrong impetus for that revolt.

How come if there is a peacful yet highly political gathering, they're quick to surround, hound and beat anyone who does not comply, into leaving the area NOW...

but when it's a riot, they're so impotent?

Does it mean that when push comes to shove, it's all a load ot funny bunnies? Might carry a big stick, but it takes a long time to swing it.

I dont think there is enough Police int he area capable of dealing with it all, there are large groups of looters going in major stores as well as all the rioting in the streets. We just laid off a big proportion of our Police all over the country...they should draft in some of the Army, they'd soon sort this out

posting videos of UK hiphop as evidence of the reason why the youths of londons suburbs are the way they are is rubbish!
You cant blame these artists or hiphop in general for the creation of mislead youths.

Poverty and lack of jobs or education are the reasons why!

These artists are wrtiting lyrics about the illls of society , and are pointing out the satire in youth culture .
they are not gloryfying it !

Much like hiphop artist masta ace , who wrote the album slaughtahouse as a satire on US gang violence and the media spin on hiphop and gun violence !
