Figured it be best to keep watch on the Asian markets and see what they are up to, so we have an idea of what to be prepared for in the European and US stock markets.

New Zealand's market has started trading and it doesn't look too pretty it dropped 100 points before 12pm, but by no means am I a financial expert. Maybe some financial expert types can make sense of what's going on.

ASX opens in 10 mins.All ords finished friday down 183.2 points and sits at 4169.7.

Yeah they all are going down right at the bell which makes sense because people probably putting sell orders over the weekend.

Personally i think we will see a bit of a roller coaster till sept - oct,then bang it will all come down.

It wont drop significantly today, the markets realise there's trouble but cant gauge the extent of it until the US opens.

Today will drop, but maybe 2-3%, if the US drops tonight then tomorrow asia will jump on the rollercoaster!

I think it all hinges on the Hang Seng. Thirty minutes until open after Chinese media told its public and the world essentially to abandon the US. Asian markets are down 1% or so now but the Hang Seng I feel will be the real test and if they start going down sharply the rest of Asia will follow and Europe after...

Interesting, I have not heard that. Do you have a source for the Chinese saying they are discarding the US dollar? That would be an interesting development. I found a few sources, but I wouldn't say that they are 100% legit.

We have a about 11 hours and 30 minutes before both the Toronto and New York Stock Exchanges open whatever happens in New York will affect Toronto the TSX dropped sharply on Friday but they been dropping more than rising all week.
