We need the effing money now.

You really don't get it? The Government brings in plenty of money. Revenues have never been a problem. Spending is the problem

When you want to restrict something what do you do? You tax it. ie. cigarettes, alcohol. Why do the same on income? You tax it....you get less. Can't have it both ways.

*chuckles*
So, if I offered you 2 jobs
a) 1000$ a week, 600 after taxes
b) 1400$ a week, 800 after taxes
You would pick a, because you pay less taxes there?

First of all income should not be taxed in the first place. You trade your time or skill for a wage. There is no gain. It is an even trade. How can someone be taxed on ZERO?

Same can be said for VAT, or any other tax. Nice dodge though.
So, how exactly does this "taxing incomes lowers incentive to earn higher incomes" mechanic work then?

Trying to make this simple for you.

Too many smokers...raise taxes on cigarettes.
Too much revenue....raise taxes on income.

Raising taxes on anything restricts that activity.

Look at New York, a state with a huge State Income Tax. Millionaires are leaving left and right and moving to states with no income tax like Florida and Texas. So even though New York has a high income tax, what is the net result? Less Revenue.

Let's say a business owner is stuck in New York. How do they fight this high tax? Raise prices on their services, lay off a worker, avoid hiring another worker, avoid any kind of expansion. Whatever it takes to fight the oppressive tax.

However you want to look at it a tax is a restriction and higher taxes helps no one.

Typical. Answering your own posts and making assumptions.

Try going to a rally sometime. THEN make a decsion.

I dare you.

Talk about making assumptions...........

I have been to many TPM functions [over 25] as a producer/director for our local Cable access channels 15 and 23, documenting events that happen in the area that our cable company covers. We produce and air everything from soapbox derby races, senior square dancing fests, the Mayors cummunity addresses, etc as well as the TPM get togethers. From what I have ascertained, the TPM is primarily made up of conservative older white men that hate Obama. That is the main focus of their meetings with very little of other issues being addressed; Even the anti Tax platform is mostly about attacking Obama. And that's fine, but claiming a higher calling doesn't fly with my observations. And you should hear some of the comments directed at my young black soundman and my female Hispanic cameraperson; such as "what are you doing here and why don't you go back from where you came from" She's from Denver.....

And I actually do support some of the TPMs ideas...before YOU make other assumptions about me.

Then those same people would have gotten the boot out of my group. But you'll find that when you have such a broad base with so many ideologies.
Pity.
I had hopes that you'd be going to a rally with a better demographic. (they do exist)

Marking up income tax on the price?
Good one!

So, which job will you take?
a) 1000$, 400 tax, 600 left
b) 1500$ 700 tax, 800 left
?
Wich business would you rather run
a) 10$ turnover, 2$ tax, 8$ profit
b) 200$ turnrover 60$ tax 140$ profit

www.politico.com...

What game are you trying to pull here? A news story which is nearly 2 years old is supposed to be some kind of argument about 2012 and a tea party infight? Seeing as how they stayed together well over a year after that article and helped propel 63 Republicans into the US House I have little doubt your news article means anything important to 2012.

We did listen to the Teabaggers, or should I say we were held hostage by the Teabaggers, thus there was no revision of the Tax Code or Entitlements included in the package... THANKS TEABAGGERS! WAY TO GO! YOU PLAYED CHICKEN WITH OUR CREDIT RATING AND WE LOST!

seems to me when someone says "all the tea parties are made up of a bunch of white haters"

whose the real racist there?

i see a group upset with government what the hell does race have to do with there makeup.

Tried Enough Already and has failed everytime.

Talked About Enough Already

and congress should have listened to them the downgrade would have never happened.

now why did the downgrade happen? spending too much

aint got noone to blame but themselves.

60 people out of 535 congressman that dog dont hunt.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

I am proud to have voted for Senator Toomey who pushed the cut,cap and balance! While he is in the Republican party, he outshines them in every way with his Conservative principles. I hope he keeps it up.

Are you really THAT delusional??? While I FULLY agree with the Tea Parties stance on a Balanced Budget, their stance on tax policy and business regulation is downright SUICIDAL! Even Warren Buffet agrees that we severely undertax the wealthy in this country. But you go ahead and keep spreadin' Massa's rhetoric and lies... It's almost criminal how much influence a FORIEGNER (Rupert Murdoch) has over you and the other simple minds...

Or Congress could have raised the debt ceiling without issue and with that extra time, talked about spending cuts after.

First off I want to say I respect your opinion. All I know are these 2 broken parties we have now do not work. Everyone clamored for a new a party, well one arose. Perfect, by no means, but it is a different direction one I am willing to try. I also voted for Ross Perot.

It's not a new party, it's the radical wing of the Republican Party. And I for one think we need to do away with political parties altogether. This "Us vs. Them" paradigm is ripping us apart, and as the quote states, "United We Stand, Divided We Fall"... Welcome to the beginning of the fall...

I would politely disagree that they are the same parties. If they were the same parties why did you have Tea Party people running against Repulicans. Thats like saying the Democrats are the Green Party. The Tea people and the Republicans have similar causes, as do the Democrats and the Green Party, but the same no.

All Tea Party candidates run as Republicans... Coincidence??? I think not... The Teabaggers are UBER conservative... Both Conservatives and Liberals think they live in a black and white world, when in truth it's 95% grey...

I like the fresh, in your face attitude of the tea party. That it upsets the moldy oldies in congress the better. Most of congress, democrats and republicans, that have been in office more than six years need to be brought before Judge Alvin 'J.P' Valkenheiser from Valkenvania. If you remember Nothing But Trouble (1991), as wikipedia sums up, the judge's invariable punishment for being a "banker," and for just about everything else, is to be fed via roller coaster into a death machine called "Mr. Bonestripper," and have one's remains shot out onto a large charnel heap. There are also many "bankers" on Wall Street that could use a visit to the judge.
