You know what they say: Never negotiate with terrorists. It only encourages them.
These last few months, much of the country has watched in horror as the Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people... But they didn’t care. Their goal, they believed, was worth blowing up the country for, if that’s what it took.
Like ideologues everywhere, they scorned compromise. When John Boehner, the House speaker, tried to cut a deal with President Obama that included some modest revenue increases, they humiliated him.
Maybe the OP should read the ACTUAL report that was published by S&P as to why they downgraded the US.
It is only 8 pages long.
(This is the revised report that takes the $2 Trillion 'whoops' into account)
Downgrade Rationale Report
The political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America's governance and policy making becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than we had previously believed. The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy.
It appears that for now, new revenues have dropped down on the menu of policy options. In addition, the plan envisions only minor policy changes on Medicare and little change in other entitlements, the containment of which we and most other independent observers regard as key to long-term fiscal sustainability.
They, quite clearly, implicate all political parties for this boondoogle.
They only mention the tax cuts as letting them expire would be a quick and easy way to increase revenues, if all else remains equal. They do not believe that that alone will solve the problem.

PEOPLE should spend. Governments should not.
Again, you're endorsing keynesian ecnomics. Fine. I get it. For you; taxes good, spending cuts bad.
It's just a good thing not everyone thinks as you do.
OK, so government cutting spending means that government should cut down jobs? Due to the tea party the government has actually been cutting down jobs and adding to the unemployed.
read his article below: Government cutting spending
Yes i am a proponent of keynesian ecnomics or mixed economic for obvious reasonsedit on 6-8-2011 by LiveEquation because: (no reason given)
-The shorts will be happy come Monday!
-Dollar will face will face pressure next week
-over time, the downgrade could push up borrowing costs for the U.S. government, costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars a year.
-It could also drive up interest rates for consumers and companies seeking mortgages, credit cards and business loans.
-A downgrade could also have a cascading series of effects on states and localities … These governments could lose their AAA credit ratings as well, potentially raising the cost of borrowing for schools, roads and parks

Some points to consider:
It’s still a fact that George Bush is more responsible for the debt and deficit than Barack Obama. All the falsehoods by people here won’t change that. www.dailykos.com...
The downgrade actually has nothing directly to do with the budget or debt what it has to do with is growth and merely cutting and taxing or no-taxes has an effect on growth but doesn’t alone determine GDP.
Any economists will tell you that you need a balanced approach not a one-sided monstrosity like the tea party agenda.
Recall that the last time we had no deficit was under the democrat Bill Clinton and it was the republican George Bush who sent the debt into the stratosphere with tax cuts for the rich and the Iraq war
My OP has already determined the quilt of the tea party, as I refuted all comers and tea party lovers who couldn’t answer the logic of the OP and only avoided its facts.

Is the Tea Party to blame for S&P's downgrade?

This would not have happened if "Cut, Cap, and Balance" was passed. This is what the TEA Party wanted, and Obama and his minions stopped it.
This.
S&P, and the other credit rating agencies, told the fed.gov several times if they raised the debt ceiling the US credit rating would be cut. They raised it anyway. More cuts to the military are foolish and short sighted. We are going to have to make serious cuts to Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security or risk national bankruptcy. Repealing all of Obamacare would be a good idea too.
The Tea Party is not to blame. Tax and Spend Democrats, as usual, are to blame.
