My cd player and another cd burner stopped working. I figure it is IDE controller, maybe?

They both have power and open/close, computer recognizes them, but neither will spin and both E: and F: Device is not ready. is not accessible.

both were working a month ago. A PC tune-up program has been cleaning system and changing registry. This could be the cause, tried to undo what it did but didn't seem to help.

In systems properties both cd drives show up. I do have a few conflicts in ports and system devices, a second DMA controller and a second PCI bus.

If someone is familiar with this problem, can you point me in the right direction.

Remove the case from the pc and check the cables. Do a little dusting.

Download the latest drivers. RE-Start the computer, push del when prompted, and check the Bios settings for the CD-ROM drive.

Remove the PC tuneup program.
