Yes, we actually have no real sense of purpose. Everything seems mundane, in-material, manufactured, basically pointless. Some of us experience a momentary thrill of recognition, but all in all, it is mostly bunk.

I don't know about the Human Race in its totality. I would say the US and western culture are being bored to death. I think for most in the "developing" world (aka, the 3rd World) are already living in the Apocalypse as a direct result of the mindless crap that overstimulates us into this boredom.
