And when we get their money,what will we do with it?..I dont see any promises of no more social programs or welfare,or reductions in what we already have....you DO know that they already pay 80% of the taxes now,correct?

Actually...the top 1% pays 38% of total tax revenues...which given that they own 95% of the country's wealth doesn't sound wrong. As for the social programs, those help improve consumer spending and therefore also help the economy...more than giving the top 1% more tax breaks does.

Also, how about the corporate taxes? Exxon pays ZERO taxes while raking in BILLIONS in profits while continuously firing more people. Why do the poorest people have to pay taxes, and a multi-billion dollar company doesn't?

I'll tell you why: Those companies pay off politicians and make sure the tax incentives remain.

Why do we subsidize clearly unprofitable indiustries?

Those tax breaks and subsidies amount to WAY more than the social programs if you add them all up...and you also have to keep in mind that we're not talking about upping their tax to 90% or something like that, they're talking about upping it by 3-5%, which is enough to help fix the budget. Especially once the corporate tax loop holes are fixed

And social security is NOT responsible for the deficit, it has a HUUUUUUUUGE surplus and will continue to not harm the budget until 2040, at which point you can lower payments to 75% and go on for another 40 years.

Reducing all spending,including entitlements,closing useless departments such as the Energy Dept and Education Depts,closing corporate loopholes and foreign "aid" will do prettyy much the same thing,without upping taxes on anyone but the corporations....whats wrong with that?Entitlements are out of control...SS is not an entitlement..its bought and piad for each month...that surplus you speak of is Bonds though,not cash....there is no cash except what comes in each month and goes at once into the treasury and is reissued as bonds so the gov can send it to welfare drones

What happened is that millions of people paid into social security, and the government used that money to pay for ridiculously expensive wars. Now that they're running out of money, they're trying to convince the population social security is the issue...when in reality, the issue is that they pay off their defence lobbyist friends by starting stupid wars.

Education is the single greatest driver of economic growth. If you average citizen is dumb, and right now in the US that's the case, the country suffers as a whole. India has more honor students than the US has students! What do you think will those clever people do? They will get ahead in fields such as IT, science, economics, and so on. And guess what, that's why a lot of people realize that for at least the next 15 years, the money's in Asia, and not the west.

Just read these forums, we have people on here who seriously believe the earth is only 6k (or 10k) years old...and those are the people you expect to compete with the global economy. By slashing education, you are essentially condemning the US people to be children amongst adults when it comes to knowledge. No one will take them seriously, a trend that started over 10 years ago will become even worse...

I mean, there's people on here who seriously believe not raising the debt ceiling is an option. That's ridiculous, no matter if you think it's a good thing to raise that ceiling over and over again or not. Right now, the US economy doesn't have a choice, but instead of getting on with it and trying to fix the core issue (aka politicians working for giant corporations instead of the people), nothing will ever get any better. Calling the department of education useless is beyond laughable and just shows that you don't understand the impact of globalization...
