Because you people live in a Narcissistic way. But I dont blame you ,you American regulars.
Your leaders have manipulated you well.

Your schooling, your food.Tv etc. etc. You have bin thought this way.

I don't like America, but that only is because of the evils that come from your leaders.
Above all that I have to admit, when I see an patriotic Nationalist on Tv my stomach turns around.

We are all one.

Sure we were. And while we were there we found evils and ended them too. That makes America seem pretty awesome to me. We got involved to get out of the depression and get rich, but we had a heart enough so that when we found the bodies of our enemy's death camps, we declared it wrong and decided to mass murder every German we got our hands on who was responsible. In my book, that's pretty cool. Getting rich and still having a heart.

Nope, you did it for the monetary advantage. If there was any heart in it at all you would have joined the war when you were begged to.

Maybe they should stop asking....

Oh, like Iraq asked you to invade?

sadam was killing a lot of ppl for no reason, i see whwere you and your country stand with that..

The 1 MILLION people (read, CIVILIANS) killed by the USA (and co) in Iraq are almost as much (if not more, depending on your source) as the amount sadam killed during his entire reign, and it's ongoing.

Thank god coalition forces by now see this fake war for what it is and mostly pulled out of Iraq. Next to that i find it quite obvious that most of the coalition casualties in Iraq were/are US military, as if singled out by the Iraqis.

I have followed this thread, and have commented some.

Yes, we can be an arrogant bunch. Yes, it is the majority of our citizens who are clueless when it comes to another country. We rely too heavily on the media. When we watch our news, we mostly see the bad because it sells. Nobody wants to watch feel good news. Of course we also created the monster. We over indulge, we turn ordinary people into gods. We sensationalize bad people and make them hero's. We get so involved with things we know nothing about and then get mad when it doesn't turn out how we thought it should. We are also spoiled. We consume like no other nation on earth. All you have to do is to look at our obese population. We delve in excess like there is no end.

However, if you read enough on ATS you will find most of us do not like our government. I think the day is nearing when the people finally wise up and take back control, at least I hope so because we cannot continue as we have and survive. We cannot continue to consume as if the fountain will never run dry, because it will. I have worked with people from all over the world. The only country that I have experienced that truly has no respect, not just for us but all nations, is Mexico. Every other country has been more than welcoming. And yes, more Americans need to get outside our borders. You really don't get an appreciation for the life you have here until you have been to a country where our monthly salary is equal to their annual salary!

Another thing that someone pointed out is that we are the cast-offs from the rest of the world. When our country was still a colony, we learned from our owners how to control. We learned how to wage war and conquer. If there is to be a fault or blame thrown around, then it lies with those who came here and kept the old world mentality alive on this new continent. We learned from the best, and then beat them.

I can only hope that one day our citizens will wise up and reclaim their country. I fear that only then can we begin to redeem ourselves not just at home, but abroad as well.

If the puppet state was being supported for the continuation of freedom in the fact of religious revolution or the ills of democracy, then good. I am no fan of democracy nor theocracy. And I have no problems with puppet states being used to suppress their growth. For me, Republic or nothing.

Never read a Tom Clancy novel, I just know he's got a lot of good ideas. If I do, then good.

Haggis is tasty , not as good as black pudding though , or even white pudding from Stornaway lovely , try black pudding with scallop's fantastic , the breakfast of kings !

Whilst most Scot's do speak the queens tongue , we also like to keep our native dialects and colluqialisms
I for instance am from the central belt , near Falkirk and moved to Glasgow , so my accent is completely different from Glasweigan. I am considered a Chookter (anyone outside Glasgow) , however im no a Fifer !

Our langauge isnt Gaelic , as most would think , its acutally Auld scots , which is a bastardisation of the Queens English. see Robert Burns.

Please dont get me wrong here , I love American culture , in my opinion Americas greatest export is Hip Hop
it unites so many people from all over the world , we all share the same love for the culture and each other.

Anyways I dont support my government or yours , but # happens right !
just dont defend your governement blindly , however please do defend your constitution , as without it most countries and its citizens wouldnt stand a chance against their governments.

I applaud America as it has produced some of the worlds best free thinkers and greatest minds of the modern age , who have pushed for democracy , liberty and the freedoms most of the west enjoy.

so thanks for that !

Really?????? All you was looking for was some attention? All you wanted was someone on your level that knows a little about your home? Americans are not as bad as you was making us out to be. Believe it or not you come down to America with respect and not all rude we will be real friendly.

I have never been to Scotland, I would love to go but I just can't make that happen and trust me it's not cause I don't want to. I agree that not many Americans get out the states but it's not over ignorance or cause we think America is the world, we just simply can't usually cause of work. I hate this modern day slavery, taking all our tax money on everything from food to our damn cars down to our paycheck to then have to here our gov is broke. Us Americans see this we don't like it but we can't exactly just snap our fingers and change things like some of you think we can. So when you go throwing all that in our face as if we are not fed up with it as it is will get us quite angry especially if I take a look at your country and realize that you don't even do half of what we do cause if you did maybe we wouldn't be doing all this alone cause that's sure is how it feels like. Everyone has an opinion but brings nothing to the table, I can't stand that.

I'm a fifer....so take a long one....

If anyone doesn't know the context - the fifers are the 'polish' of Scotland. There's plenty of jokes about the polish in America. Fifers are the same thing to scots.

Tak a Lang spoon sapien, and stert diggin!

Yes, and people elect those people. Palestine elected Hamas, Israel elected their scum, the US elected Obama and Bush.

Actually they don't, because the outcome of most elections is decided beforehand by the unseen powers behind the scenes and miraculously, their candidate always wins. The public have no say in it, the electoral process is just a scam to make people believe they are in a democracy instead of a fascist, corporate oligarchy.

You get what you pay for. Burn in the hell you created for yourselves.

I look forward to seeing that apply to the Vermin who have usurped the positions of power.

It's only an oligarchy if you make it so. Besides, what's wrong with those things? National socialism, done right, is one of the best governments around. Corporations can do quite a lot of good when the government axes them in half after they own more than half the market, and oligarchies do well when they are taught well.

Spouting around words that the public thinks are bad because the media says so doesn't make it so. Plenty of nations that weren't called national socialist but acted no different in organization from the Nazis have done significant good when applied to Republic forms of government, or other forms.

By all means, the worse form of government is democracy, and it can rot in hell for all I care.

I mean, Nazis minus genocide is actually a very very successful government organization. His only error was choosing an innocent party for the scapegoat. National Socialism, in order to work, needs a scapegoat. In America, I would not honestly be surprised to see the rise of a National Socialism government in 2 decades or less with the scapegoat being the so-called "powers that be". ha. That's going to be fun to watch.

I look forward to seeing that apply to the Vermin who have usurped the positions of power.

We don't hate the USA, we feel sorry for you having to put up with the stupid government and legislators that you are putting up with.
Anyway it is a free world, people are allowed to love/hate/like/dislike whoever they want to.
And there have been a lot of things recently, say since 9/11, that have changed the world's perception about your country. From intrusive body groping at airports, to unjustified wars and bully tactics over unhealthy and genetically modified food to name a few.
Then there is the assumption by a lot of yanks that they are right (ALL THE TIME) and we, the rest of the world are idiots.
From outside of the USA we see a lot of ignorant people, who mainly have never been outside their own home state, telling us what to do.
And seeing as only 25% of you yanks have a passport, it proves how ignorant most of you are about world affairs. You TV news virtually ignores the rest of the world and perpetuates the idea of the ignorant american.
And because your news services are so inward looking, you don't get a real feel of what it is really like outside of the USA, you guys are brainwashed by third rate newsmedia.

America is a CONTINENT divided in three

America comes from Americo Vespucio who came firstly to South America

So I am from Venezuela but I am American
! Get it?

That is one thing that pisses off the rest of AMERICA, specially because people in the States dont even know where the name comes from..

I had a really annoying facebook discussion (hahaha) with a friend, well deleted now (double hahaha) because he said that he didnt care about Amy Winehouse and cared more about the "insert names here" who served the country..

Sensitive topic

I said, I better load myself with drugs to the point of overdosing before I may get one of my bullets inside innocent people... he replied that this people... (nationalistic crap here including 9/11) served his country..#

how can you serve your country? in Afghanistan?? just how? this is complete bollocks! the brainwash is ridiculous! How can I serve my country by invide another one over the other side of the world for what? OIL! period.

If you read the statistics of Afghanistan, there has been more heroin production and injection than any other time... I dont know how! but you guys are clearly doing something wrong... and blowing your tax money like crazy!

why do you people want to always play captain America? (well not ALL of you guys, your goverment drives you to it and you cant say no!)

I dont think though people realy wan tto be percieved like that and you guys are a very few group that are at least interested to know because you wouldnt make this post

Now, unfrtunately your goverment has a lot of power in the world but you guys have no power whatsoever in your goverment... and you really disguise it because it is the same circus over and over again..

Now Obama, he is like a celebrity there, I have never seen a president going to shows like Ellen and Jay Leno is definetely quite a show that guy..

and the amount of bread and circus there is insane.. I lived in Canada and (sorry Canadians and Unitedstatians but it is really similar between the two) and people watch sooooooooo mcuh television, what is Ellen saying or Oprah or the 82347098274 reality shows... wow its insane...

Im not syaing everyone is like that! but a good amount!!

Sheer denial.

How about some proof?

Yes, and that doesn't disprove what I said. Vast numbers of Americans still believe the BS pushed out by the government and its propaganda machine the MSM.

Those would be the vast numbers electing the people into office because the news says so. fyi, that's not vote manipulation.

It's an oligarchy because they made it so with secrecy

Don't see how. Everyone knows Republicans protect themselves and Democrats protect themselves, and they both throw big mouths under the bus.

deceit and lies

Most every American knows that every politician lies.

and because of the brainwashing of the public

brainwashing doesn't exist. You can influence people though. And to be honest, we DO have a crap ton of benefits from the government.

.the dark power that JFK referred to are whom I'm referring to, the dark powers who he was challenging just before he was assassinated.

Those "dark forces" are nothing more and nothing less than a group of ultrea federalists whose dadies created the Fed, but whom they themselves honestly do not care about. These people have been in power for 3 generations now, and on average, that's how long they get to be in power before they are exterminated. This isn't the first time this has happened.

They're not going to last another 10 months, imo, and even that's too long to wait before they are despatched to the furnaces and torture of Hades across the river Styx.

There is a good chance they could start their desperate attempt to seize power this year. But just like last time, and the time before that, they'll fail to capture the military, the military will execute in secret the ones they hate, a little internal war will happen that will make a couple of politicians dead, and then of course, the lovely purges that happen, followed by reconstruction, stabilization, and then the cycle repeats.

Don't you know, this is how the Tree of Liberty gets its food. Semi-sacrificial offerings in the form of psychopaths.

Well for the record there still aren't really any other united states of America. There is a united states of Mexico, but that's clearly because its in mexico. The Name america is borrowed from the Spanish, and whom called the whole land America. The Idea of North and South America only came about when people realize a pin-sized chunk of land connects the two.

Now should a united states of America get born somewhere besides the united states of America, then I suppose its the USNA, and USSA. But until then, America really and honestly are the united states of America. United individual states with a federal government.

Yes you are American, as am I. But it's all America. Technically I would call myself a North American in you country, and you would call yourself a South American in mine. I don't find it annoying at all.

') Thank God there is no other! We have enough with one, thank you very much!

Of course you dont find it annoying because you are from there!

We dont call you northamericans we call you: Mexicanos, Canadienses and Estadounidenses.
As clear as that

And no, the United States is not really "America" there is a lot of countries included. Now, thank God Im not very nationalistic or territorial as I dont even live in Venezuela anymore... I dont really mind, you can call yourself however you lile. Besides, Unitedstatians is quite long, better American no?

You know because you read, now I have said to "Estadounidenses": I am an American and their look is so confusied and funny I just love to do it for the gain of this really lovely look!

Besides, I dont really really care how you people call yourselves, I know many people in South America and Mexico specially the Spanish speaking countries that hate the fact that US citizens call themselves American...

ummm it does annoy me a little bit, specially because Americo Vespucio landed in South America, Venezuela exactly, and many of you don't know this.. :s

I was just adding to the pile of the topic! I am a citizen of the world with no onwership whatsover of any land!!

and off I go hugging trees

Well no, that's not making much sense. How would it not annoy me because I live there? If I lived in France, I'd call myself European, specifically French if asked where. Why is it no different in the Americas?

I suppose is one additional level of unneeded categorization. because where as I'd call myself European, specifically French, I'd call myself American, specifically United States, specifically New York.

I'm sorry, but it just doesn't make sense to me how it's annoying to call yourself American from the United States. It's difficult for me to understand, because it just doesn't matter.

I was taught that when someone says "american", chances are they're from the United States. When someone says they're from the "americas", chances are they're from South America. When someone calls themselves Mexican, that's pretty obvious. I mean technically Mexican in Midamerican, or mesoamerican. And when someone calls themselves a North American, chances are that means Canada.

It's a perfectly fine system like that. No different in organization than saying your Western European, Mediterranean, etc etc.

I mean, Would you get angry if someone from Korea called themselves Asian when the original term meant peple between turkey to India?

It makes about as much sense as that.

You claim not to be nationalistic, but in every sense of the word what you're angry about is that.

You are getting more messed up than a clown's wig.

You guys call yourselves Americans right? Let me explain again:

Well, SouthAmericans and the rest would like to be called Americans without being confused they mean they are from USA.
Get it?
Now because everyone is used to call USA people American now, a Mexican, calling him/herself American would be quite confusing w/o the historic fact around it.

Dude, call yourself whatever you want. I am a Earthian, nice to meet you I was just pointing out something tht annoys other and your behaviour quite affirms it... it annoys me as well but NOT AS MUCH as others... it does not keeps me awake..

Well if knowing everything is annoying, pleasure to annoy you.

Besides, you answered your own question. You say you're American. if someone says the wrong country, you say otherwise.

What's the difference between that and saying your European and people thinking your French when you're really Greek?

Normal people don't get upset by that.
