I don't like google, it's to much in your face everywhere you look on the net.
Just like how they try to push their toolbar down your nose all the time.
I had google caused computer issues and ever since stoped using the search page, account, toolbar and everything associated to it.

If google +1 comes to ats, I'm one that will never make use of it. Don't trust google for a bit. but that's just me.

I'm in favor of this, though I think it needs one tweak...

This should be opt-in, not opt-out.

Opt-Out features feel shady and Facebookish, even if they are just a Button. Even though there is nothing actually shady about using it, it's going to cause discomfort among many people. I'll be opting-in of course, but I really think you'll get a better response if it's opt-in.

Best not question ATS

Just saying guys.... The owners of ATS put hard work and money to give us a great community, sure i'm full they are full of # with their statements, much like the whole never explaining what happened to the bronze and up contributors having removed ads, but they are not doing it to harm us, its so they can still make money and allow this website to stay around, respect them.

you guys are making scream embraces ignorance.

As I've indicated, the decision was made after lots of questions and research into the actual functionality. And still, we provide an opt-out -AND- a heads-up to members.

How can you have an issue with that?

Sir, This is a discussion I can not win, no point in arguing.

To be frank, your actions made it clear you went mainstream. For me as reader and forum member you guys sold out.

This is my personal opinion, this may not be accurate,but as a member I have the right to sound my voice.

2nd meaningful line.

We've been consistently clear that something like that will never happen. If you dislike a thread, don't reply, don't flag, and don't +1. It's pretty simple.

Ahh well, I will hold out for the +2 feature then.

I hate being a beta tester and always early adopting.

man look at all the paranoia. it's pretty clear you don't have to participate with the +1 stuff if you don't want to, and can even remove it from your view of ats. some people need to get over themselves.

Just giving Google more power, not really interested.

Google is getting a little too big for their britches too.

A piece here, a piece there, there is not much more left to take.

This is good stuff.

Social Networking and a Means To Get The Word Out There you can believe in [no pun intended - mr. pres].

I, personally, don't see ATS getting all Google-friendly as a bad thing at all ... it's not like this place isn't already 'coded' to be just that.
... 's just now there's an even better method for y'all to 'get your wurd out'.

*sheesh ... some people's kids, i swear*

From a purposeful design, internet presence and technical aspect This is but an even mOar 'teh awesome' means for y'all [ATS-ers] to have their voices, thoughts and interests be made known to a greater audience.

Why is that always a 'bad thing' ...?

Oh. I know ... cuz 'ATS is in bed w/ teh Google'

LMFAO :shk:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
have been into/involved with computers/the internet since the early 80's .... throughout the 'DOT COM boom' etc ... all the way through to present day technologies and the like
have been through the vast majority of their API offerings [line by line] and the like ... to include this and many other recent 'offerings' ... new 'toys', if you will.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IMO,
Google isn't by any means the 'Agent Provocateur', nor 'three letter agency front' all too many purport it to be ...

... except for those who likely have their tin wrapped a bit too tightly and 'find' a conspiracy behind every time their dog farts the 'wrong way'.

I dunno. Color me stoopid, but I've long since incorporated the same into many of the sites I manage and maintain.

Who'da thunk it?

Google offers a new/different & better than all others -type widget ... and, for a mere 'some' ... it's a goddamn conspiracy.

Get real folks [those who's dog just farted] there are far more pressing and potentially ReaL 'conspiracy trails to sniff, follow and/or get 'scent on' than this ...

:shk:

good *snip* lawd.

some people's kids, i swear.

*edit to add*
no i'm not sucking up to the hierarchy here, i don't get around this way often enough to make that a worthwhile interest or venture, but ... DAMN ...

when I do , and when I see some of the ridiculous nonsense posted, as has been in this thread.

It'd be funny, if it weren't so sad and obviously ill-informed/lacking sufficient, proper knowledge -like disappointing.

ugh.........

How long will it keep it in your files? Also is removal an easy option as well? It has happened so many times that I would love to link an exceptional thread within another thread but for the life of me have no idea what thread it was in, so will this enable us to put a reminder of why we saved the lin? Something like zorgon/fairiey pic. or something to that affect?

All in all it is going to support an ease of searching while on ats imo. Remember how paranoid I was when I first came onto ATS? LOL, now I know that if they want info on me it is as easy as they choose for it to be, so it could be an added protection against bs reports against me as I see it...

Irony indeed. social networking sites, for those that sit 24/7 in front of their computer or glued to a mobile phone.

People don't realize that we still live in a day and age where little perks such as this are still a good thing.

Wait five years. These are little benevolent ideas to make people interested. Kind of like a spider with a little flashlight, getting the moths to come to the web.

There's nothing wrong with this add-on, and from what I can tell it seems like the only thing being effected are outsiders' search bars will be filled with more information.

But like I said, give it a couple more years - then your paranoia will not be unfounded. Google and Facebook are extensions of a Goliath of trouble, enjoy the perks now - but know that by signing in with them (from the individual down to a website such as this caliber) that you are putting your self at risk, or "making bets with the devil".

Kind of like owning a sushi restaurant - you want the freshest fish - but the place with the best fish is run by the Mafia. Everything works out fine in the beginning, but the next thing you know, you're waking up in the middle of the night to salmon heads in your bed sheets.

Oh also, Google has ALWAYS been my #1 search engine anyway, so this is nothing new to me or my way of finding info.

It seems a bit of a contradiction. "Above top Secret" liaising with one of the biggest American spy companies Google!! What i like about this site is I can talk about non mainsteam things anonymously. Why on earth would anyone want to spread their views on a social networking site run by Google which is subject to the Patriot Act. Google are trying to tighten up on Google IDs so anyone who uses this site and links it to Google+ is compromising their anonymous status and ultimately their freedom of expression.

Haha, next thing you know 80% of the people here will be accused of home grown terrorists.

We are talking about Google here. This would have been a better April fools joke.
