I understand the desire to spread the knowledge of ATSers with a larger group of people, but just about every time I use Google to search a topic, ATS is usually one of the referenced sites already with some information, in fact when I was searching a topic back before I joined I was brought to this sites posts quite often.

What I am getting at is, is this a necessary step for ATS to take if the message is already getting out there?

Not that I am opposed to the idea of it, it just seems like the goal is already being accomplished by other means, or it could be I misunderstand what Plus-One is exactly as well.

Whatever the owners wants to do with ATS I ask God to guide them and help them to do what is right.

Personally, sometimes I sense Google kind of Monsanto-ish. Don't you?

I find it really disturbing how some people here still think there might be some good in Google.

I see you have been a member for a while, have you forgotten that this is a conspiracy site and that most conspiracy theorists are paranoid?

AC... To me this is an alternative news and topics site... I don't see it as a conspiracy website.

You realize ATS has a facebook page, don't ya'll?
You can create a fake gmail account, and do the +1
without anyone knowing who you really are.
Oh, and do have a like button.
Look at the top righthand corner of every post.

Not what I am talking about...

the facebook like button is not a facebook fan page... top right corner? the star system on the top left? Similar concept, but more interactivity with facebook...

Things are getting way too cross referenced for me. I was just thinking today about trying to get Facebook absolutely out of my life. It's been intruding into my Yahoo Mail page with too many annoying reminders about fake and frivolous "invitations" supposedly sent to me by my friends.

I just got a Google invitation yesterday from another friend. The internet is starting to remind me of why I hated television.

It's like everything else on the internet you use.
You have to properly manage it.
Always delete cookies and browsing history.
I learned this long ago when my wife found my porn.

Create a false identity.

And if you are that paranoid about it why are you on the internet posting on ATS?
Just stay off the internet or,
They will find you.

This may have been brought up...

The biggest issue I see is the stealth "awareness" when logged into another Google service.

For those who have a Google account (gmail, Google+, search preferences, etc.), and are logged in, the "widget" is aware of your logged-in status, but gathers no analytics or other data just by appearing on the page.

I'm apprehensive about believing Google when they say "but gathers no analytics or other data".
If that was the case, why is the widget aware in the first place? Why couldn't it activate on a click?
Google is well known for some of the worst privacy policies, so I'm not placing my trust in them.

I've learned to stay completely logged out of any Google service, so really it shouldn't affect me, yet it would be nice to be able to disable the widget.

Let's please bear something in mind here. No one is asking anyone to open a Google account. Much like when we (ATS) opened a FaceBook page, if you're already there and using it, this is an opportunity to include ATS.

If you're not on FaceBook, no problem. If you don't have a Google account, no big deal. If you have both, but have no interest in including ATS in either, that's perfectly fine.

For those who do participate in the social networking things, this is an opportunity to broaden that by incorporating ATS. There are no additional "perks" or attaboys or blingage given out for it. It's there if you'd like to use it. If you don't, carry on as usual.

If the very idea that it's even an option makes you so uncomfortable that you can't bear to participate any longer, then good luck, happy trails, vaya con Dios, and pleased to have had the opportunity to interact with you.

It's just that simple.

Rhetorical question here: Were you or were you not made aware of the following when talking to the good folk at google?

ATS thread link

Seems kind of a cheesy move by google.

So it has been decided to go ahead with this?

Although Google+ are deleting peoples account whom do not use their real identities?

Google+ took only 24 days to reach 20 million users but their decision to delete accounts without real names attached has caused anger. So why do social networks insist on your real name?

Over the past few days, Google has enforced its policy for requiring a real name on its new social network Google+ by suspending accounts.

The affected users were not happy at all. Blogger GrrlScientist, who prefers her real-life identity to remain private, thinks the decision to delete her account was "gormless".

My question would be are ATS going to go down the same route?

I understand ATS wants to promote themselves to other who might not have heard of ATS before, but may I ask for caution over this.

Face Book went against the anonymous use of the net.

Net savvy kids that invited you to gmail never put in real names as having
multiple email accounts was in vogue to remain anonymous.
Before gmail the use of encryption for secure sales was fought by the
government. https anyone, oh we don't like paypal, who are those people.
Purchasing on the net has no name requirement as the body can contain
name and address.A name in the email just becomes a courtesy to business and friends.
Why people think any one on the net is important has got priorities mixed.

Trying to copy Facebook has been tried before facebook by geocities.
When Yahoo took over GeoCities they changed the set up to use email ids.
I can't say why the smell of anonymous is sweet on the net but the odor of
Facebook is stinking up the kitchen.

Yahoo was caught avoiding the Bill Lyne web page and was corrected.
Now Google insists on finding Debunking Lyne pages.
Net freedom is blocked more then the id of net users who pay the net access.
I suppose net cafes are where bad net uses go to remain anonymous.
Ed: It should be easy enough to find the provider for government work.
Unless this is not for government work and for private cartel uses only.
