First, very few, if any classes in engineering require the construction of models, you may be thinking of architecture. Engineering is more about loads and stress, things that are not easily modeled. Also, I believe that all models that have been constructed (as well as actual structures) are capable of collapse. Actually can't think of any structure that you could declare "collapse proof".
