I was just looking at some other photos from the last link that ArMaP posted,
There seems to be some tall objects on them.
The tall one appears to have three sides and the rest look conical to me.
Anyone got any ideas on these? (maybe signpost for the worms).

Mars have been bombed by meteors thousonds of years and are(almost) totally covered with sand, we are joust looking down on it, there might(deffently) be much interesting under the sands/dunes. Comparing it to earth are not so "right" because they are totally different right now. there are only one place on earth that almost look like mars. but still it isnt mars.

We might find something like this under the sands?

OK WTF that is the strangest image I have ever seen, the others don't do it justice. I said earlier that it looked like san dunes but that image (above) is making me think twice.

Take a look at this:
www.badastronomy.com...

Still might be a tube, but he makes a good point refering to the Crater.

STILL looks like a tube.

But flipped upside down makes me think otherwise:

Still looks pretty weird though.

I've seen these before and i never understood why some people think they are glass tubes. I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong in thinking that they may be tubes, just saying that i just don't see how it looks like a tube, let alone being glass.

They do look natural to me. Natural being geologicly or created by large creature (ie: a worm). They defiantely do not look like they are artificialy created. As in an intelligent life form constructed them. But being the sketical person that i am. I just think they are naturaly created (geologicly that is), but i am open minded and i always consider other ideas, but as it stands now, i see no reason to think that they are created by worms. It sure would be nice to get some new pics of those areas from the ESA's probe (forget what it's called at the moment) and get some 3d images of the surface. That sure would help make things clearer i'd think.

GuerrillaFuunkstaahh: Is that pic from Mars or Earth? Either way it's a great image. Looks quite natural to me and not like a tube.

It's a region on Mars.
The area is called Gorgonum Chaos.

Here's another huge image of an ancient meteor crater on Mars:

It shows those same Ripples as in the sand dunes.

Is it a dome...............or a crater?

Is it a tube.............................or a valley?

This should clear things up.

wow, i mean WOW, has anyone else seen this??
www.ebtx.com...

from the official photos of mars by "mars global surveyor" it looks like there are "glass tubes" on the surface of mars and some even say giant worms

These are sand dunes. Google around the google archives of usenet in sci.geo.geology, there've been long discussion there about these features.

Can someone explain what these are ?

On the 8th image there's a tall object which seems to have 3 sides.
And on the bottom of the 11th image there's a bright dot that cast a shadow into the 12th, there are a few more smaller objects on the edge of a crater all of which look conicle to me.
I did'nt know if I should start a new thread on these, but I found them while looking at link that ArMaP posted on the worms.
Just thought I'd join to see if anyone can explain them (maybe there worm casts
)
Sorry if its been discused before.ida.wr.usgs.gov...

Looks like sand dunes OR rapidly cooled lava tubes. Nothing that couldn't happen or be found on Earth.
This is a geologists opinion by the way.
If you want a real martian mystery then ask yourself how can table top mountain formations exist on Mars with out glaciers? Cause they are up their near the equator as well.

Aliens living under ground, are creating tunnels for certain reasons, like humans for today's subways or underground highway systems. These tubes on Mars, or some old "channels" or "dried rivers" are actually the same. Simply thee technology of aliens living there, or just things left over by past civilizations.

it definatly looks like dunes to me, all of them are set in the valley between two higher elevations.

anyway, lets say for a second they are worms; what would their food source be to facilitate growing to such enormous sizes and wheres the evidence of thier food? an animal that big would surly need an complex food web to maintain it. i know some people are going to point out that large animals on earth like sperm whales and what not eat massive amounts of tiny plenkton but weres the evidence of a mars based food source? if there was enough to eat then there would have to be some evidence showing it.

Organic matter decays and Mars has HUGE storms all over the surface, which sometimes can last a whole year. It it highly unlikely that the tubes are "worm skins".

All that has to be done is for NASA or any country with a satellite near Mars, to take a picture of the same location twice and the "worm" theory would be confirmed or denied (you would see movement). Organic life form would be moving, especially if it was a worm. It would not be staying on the surface for very long.

It is more likely that the tubes are geologic or maybe artificial. Light can play huge tricks on the eyes and most pictures I've seen aren't the quality you'd expect on such a find as this.
