Men settle their differences with fists.

I'm sure there are plenty of Americans who'll have no problems kicking your teeth in .....while there gun remains in their holster..

Seriously though, that's one dumb ass observation. You can't fight in this country because (I don't know about you) but when I hit things w/my fists they shatter. Once bodily injury is inflicted you do time. If you have a record you do alot of time. Almost as much as killing someone. So if some little prick wanker runs his mouth And I beat him sensless, why spend 15 or 20 years in prison ( while he heals) when I can eliminate him and do 20 - 25 years. It's a mathematical eqaution

Good cops ? really ? Who are you kidding. I watch them speed down streets without cause without care as if they own the road. I have actually clocked them on highways blowing away the speed limit without cause. I have witnessed them harass people for no reason other that thirst for power and dominance. I myself was the subject of abuse some twenty years ago, so I have a firsthand account of my own.

Cops are all we got between us and the really really bad guys, but that does not make them "good". Do not trust cops like they are friends. In the end it's about power and the abuse of it. They think they are above the law.

So, good luck with good cops.

It is quite refreshing to see something like this, with one exception......... The guy just did his job right....... Now, i'm all for congratulating here and there for being a good citizen and what not...... but this was a cop..... doing his job the CORRECT way...... not sure if he deserves praise or not....... do you praise a mailman for dropping your mail off?

Now i also understand that really isnt the point here....... the point i want to make is this...... forget the fact that a COP was being a good person....... just remember that there are good people out there.....

The fact that anyone need to praise a cop for doing what he should be doing is a mystery, and embarrassing.

To me, the guy who made this video is just someone looking for a reason to do something stupid. Let's hope he proves whatever point he's trying to make rather soon as it's not too far stretched to think that frustration would lead to desperation.

If you spend the time to properly learn law for yourself and are a honourable, lawful man, then pretty much every encounter will be quick and easy like this.

A bit of hard work beforehand makes any life challenge smoother.

What a great cop, this made me smile 100% you can tell that guys a really good guy, even before he confirmed he was being filmed, he still acted with immense decorum & how he took a shine to the guy carrying as they were both marines, Good too see a police officer who respects the law himself & still enforces it in a civil and appropriate manner. I think the way he got the guys firearm was great as he didnt suddenly slam him to the hood or instantly take his weapon and treat him like a criminal, or more an animal !

Clearly this cop is an experienced gentlemen & hes smart and not some dumb thug, now if this man ever runs into this officer again, One would think he would treat the officer with as much respect as the officer treated him with, which is a great amount & you would hope that he exercises the same decorum towards the gentlemen, What a good vibes thread, im gonna have to watch the vid again cause the cop was so awesome !

Its cops like him that set the standard for the dumb thugs who call themselves cops & they should be ashamed of themselves and what they've become when they see this guy.

Yes, yes we are.

But in all seriousness I personally agree with you that true men settle their differences fisticuffs and then whoever wins buys the pints.

But in truth here guns have been long championed over personal honor, anyone can use a gun, most couldn't fight there way out of a phone booth. Guns are equalizers in many ways; a skinny 100lb guy with a gun is an even match with an MMA fighter with a gun. Take away those guns, the MMA fighter has the upper hand by a large margin (unless the skinny guy is kung-fu master). You see anyone can fire a gun, therefore anyone can kill another person, regardless of your stature and talents. This is why guns CAN be so dangerous, your mother could use one (no offense to your mum).

However, just like in the days of knights, I believe those who choose to exercise there rigth to carry take on the responsibility of doing it; In japan if you carried a sword you were fair game, but if you didn't you could not be fought out of honor. IMO if you decide to carry a gun you had better be able and prepared to use it, because you are fair game.

Guns level the playing field, anyone can fight/kill anyone now. As an American I don't own a gun, but I know how to use most quite well. That way when my neighbor dies I can take his gun, and then the next guy I kill I'll take his gun.
Makes it difficult to stop a force of angry people when all of them are armed, and that's what our founding fathers wanted, so our country could never become a dictatorship. However, we will see if that percaution is even needed, or if it actually works. Hopefully we won't have to find out.

I salute this officer for his honor and proper action towards his fellow American.

this wasn't a nice cop, he was a cop who new he was being filmed by someone who was

A. White

B. Not financially challenged enough to buy a legal firearm, take classes, conceal it

C. A fellow Marine

D. On a busy highway

and not to down on the thread, but it doesn't matter if there is a nice cop out there, most serial killers are very nice, and what he did was follow the law, not "Be Nice"; the fact is cops are weapon toting agents of the state, corrupt by a corrupt government, and if you aren't against them, you are for them.

It doesn't matter if the man is a good person, he works for a bad entity.

Show me a video of an officer sporting a Jersey accent accosting a 18 year old black man in a bad neighborhood who is driving an older model car and has a concealed weapon, and acting the same way (for the camera), and then I'll say, "Gee what a nice cop!"

This thread is misleading. He's not being nice, he's actually following protocol. The nicest cop ever, in my opinion, is the cop that never was...

Yeah. No cops ever! Anarchy Anarchy!

So without any cops every one is just suppose to behave themselves?
Give me a break.

The officer in the video was doing his job. I feel no need to praise somebody doing what they should be doing... especially a police officer. Now when they go above and beyond...

That's when they get my complete respect.

All this comment tells me is that men in the UK are stupid..real men settle differences with their heads...when you have to resort to violence you are not very intelligent.

Absolutely NOT.. they usually give away toasters or something like that but a gun, no. Not sure what article you read, or who told you that but a bank would not give away a gun for opening a bank account, none the less, able to purchase one at a supermarket. I see your point but you also stated that you have a lot of knife crimes which, to me, means that if there wasn't a gun ban law there would be just as much crime in London, as there is in US. See with not having a gun ban law, and the right to carry is kind of a double edged sword.. IMO I would rather deal with the gun problems we have, to have my right to defend myself, or protect myself and in case of a revolution.

I could be wrong, but I dont think he was driving a car when the police officer came over to talk to him. It looks like he was just walking along the side of the road and his gun was spotted, at least thats what I gathered from viewing the video.

Cheers

I heard the policeman say he got some calls because people had seen the guy out walking around. Also, I believe that is the way the policeman always acts, you could hear the tones of his voice and read his demeaner. After he realized he was being filmed he got even nicer to the guy. I really feel like the guy was kind of a prick to the officer and was out there trying to bait cops.

Are you kidding? with an attitude like yours you probably brought it on yourself 20 years ago. You actually clocked them?
weird. It sounds like you stalk them or something, are you using your "scanner" to be able to find all these "encounters" or are you just in the right place at the right time all the time.

I made a similiar assumption. I felt like he was out there trolling for attention, hoping for it to be a negative encounter to post on facebook. BTW, I love you avatar pic, "Oh No You Didn't" LOL classic.

I didn't say no cops actually, but that would be nice...only if they could be replaced by ROBOCOP ftw! lol

There are still cops in that town, my siting of the article was to point out that bad guys are less likely to do bad things when they know granny has an auto-shotty by the door.

Btw, anarchy, and chaos are not hand in hand, hopefully one day we humans can just be good, and there be no need for governing, aka "anarchy."

Not all cops are bad. Only 95% of them.

About the thread, I'm thinking the OP made it to see who is who, and what is what.

anti-authority vs. pro-authority personality types, and to gauge the frequency, intensity, and nature of replies, and members.

Maybe I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I for one am not a cop-hater. I simply think cops who commit what would be a crime without the badge should be held accountable. Typically, you hear about them doing something like punching a guy in the face while handcuffed, etc. and then getting paid leave (read: paid vacation) until a committee of his/her peers deems that the officer was somehow justified, and gets their job back. We don't hate people just because they put on the uniform. We hate when they abuse it, and then get away with it.

Interesting thread.

This country is hell on its police.

I have nothing but respect for the members of the force who show this level of professionalism.

It is a thankless job, dangerous and extremely stressful.

I never understood why men and women who protect our society get paid less than those who play poker.

That being said, yes there are people who take advantage of their position in the force to be just the assholes they always were, but its high time we start showing the whole truth of it, this fine officer included.
