And i think it's rude to start a thread about guns, so soon after a hundred families have been devastated by a man who used guns to massacre children.

My point stands. We KNOW you can bear arms, we know this....

The point you are desperately avoiding, and something you either don't want to know, or don't want your fellow countrymen to know, is that YOU HAVE THE SAME RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS.

I have zero stars on this thread. You really think I'm that shallow?

You are a rude and ignorant person.

I'm walking away from this thread. I expect to be insulted, humiliated and stabbed (shot?) in the back whilst I'm away, but I take pride in the fact I've stood my ground.

But I'm walking away before I start swinging virtual punches

Take care everyone. Have a good discussion, I hope we all learn something.

You sure do like to call names. But you have yet to make any valid points. All you are doing is calling those who disagree with you rude and ignorant.

So yeah, I do think you are that shallow, and your words support my conjecture.

Amendment 2: - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

OK, so whats so confusing here?

Law abiding US Citizens have the lawful right to keep and bear firearms! This isn't brain surgery here or even rocket science! My outburst was over a recently read post/reply [which will remain anonymous] with regards to which thread but, their argument against legally held/owned firearms is PURE BS!

I once managed a fairly active retail establishment back in the 90s and during a routine nightly bank drop I was confronted by an armed assailant. He pointed a revolver at me and made his demands. I was shocked at first but proceeded [thinking of my children] not making a fuss. After handing over to him the bank drop container he stuck his firearm in my face and made some half-Assed political statement.

I then reached into my pocket and produced my own "Legally owned hand gun" and showed him I wasn't one to be "F"d with! His whole demeanor changed at that point. His weapon was actually an early "Air soft" non lethal pistol. Had I'd been a stereotypical "Merican" I would have blown his brains out and killed him.

That didn't happen!

Enough said.

Enough said is the truth, friend. I drove semis over the road for 7 years. I was in south Bronx, and had just delivered a load of corn syrup to a bakery. I was pulling out of the lot to the street, and there was a stop and go light, I stopped. A young black kid jumped up on the step and pointed a small automatic in my face, demanding my money. Having grown up with guns, I know about autos, and the hammer was not pulled back on his. So I reached down to my storage pouch on the door panel and pulled out my .38 revolver, pointed it in his face, and thumbed back the hammer. He didn't say a word, just fell back onto the ground, and ran off.

The Right to Bear Arms is a Right We the People can NEVER let go of. Once we do, TPTB will take us over completely, and people like you and I will be locked up. Do the research, and you will see that every dictatorship began with a gun grab. The Swiss never gave up their guns during WW2, were they invaded by the Nazis? No! Take a lesson. I sleep with a .44 cap and ball Remington under my mattress, within easy reach. Our area have recently experiences some home invasions, and i think this will get worse as time goes on. Give up your guns, you give up your freedom. It's that simple.

Perhaps threads like these are important especially after a horrible event in Oslo.

A knee-jerk reaction, common nowadays, is to shout about gun control after a school shooting, or a congressman getting shot, or any event where a person used a gun to harm someone.

I applaud people who will stand up, not when it's polite or politically expedient, but to stand up when it's right to do so.

Because it is precisely NOW when people need to stand up.

Or else, meh, just sit back and watch those rights disappear.

Something we could learn from when they enacted the Patriot Act, TSA. DHS.

Here is a lesson for you. Don't ever bring a knife to a gun fight. Don't let the door hit you on your way out...

Peace

I believe that you have hit the target Neo. (Pun intended)

Too many laws in the recent past and those under consideration are based upon emotional reasoning, rather than logical.

The Hate crime bill is just one that comes to mind. The Assault Weapons ban of the ‘90’s is another. Laws that just add to a already complicated and dare I say, corrupt system of justice that needlessly encumbers all levels of the populace, from those who are supposed to enforce them to those who are supposed to obey them.

Just because a person is of the opinion that all guns cause crime and death, should mean that the opinion should be made law.

I am a peaceable guy and I believe that my weapons are tools that help ensure that my life stays that way.

I read a study once that closely correlated men and their obsession with guns being primarily due to subconcious concerns over the size of their penis, and a lack of physical prowess. This would also explain why women are far less likely to log onto message boards and brag about dirty harry type gun fantasies.

Why would I do something about America? I am not in America but I certinally am on the receiving end of their huff and puff rants.

Yes it is quite obvious you are not an American which is why no where in my post does it even insinuate "you" should do something about it. You are the only one huffing and puffing here somehow upset about Americans emphasizing the right to keep and bear arms. By the way it is a universal right not just an American right.

So, America has Militia's no? Their excuse for existing is the constitution allows them the right to exist, more huff puff. So, what is the conditions that would cause those Militias to take action?

Ah no the constitution is not their right to exist Militias existed before the constitution and they are the reason the constitution exists. Their right to exist is the fundamental human right to self defense against harm and tyranny it is a universal right that tyrants through out history have sought to erase in vain.

The conditions they would take action under are not entirely known but as I said in my previous post it is fair to say when tyranny and abuse becomes intolerable for what ever reasons they and millions of Americans will take action. In the mean time education is where the battle is being fought right now. It is my hope that education can win the day for when the day arrives that a majority of Americans can unite in removing tyranny from our land we will not need to take up arms but by shear force of will we will force those who abuse power to step down while we restructure. Right now there are to many who do not understand and man government positions that enforce tyranny under color of law. When and if enough of them refuse to enforce tyranny then there can be a peaceful change.

Would it be okay if I start a thread about cars?

Hundreds of families are devastated daily because of drivers of cars.

Neo is not quite being accurate. The 10-20-Life he is referring to is if you use a gun in the COMMISSION of a crime. Using a gun to defend yourself is a different matter and FL has fairly good laws in that regard. Basically if you're in public you must fear for your life or someone else's life befory you can use your weapon. Florida has what they call "castle doctrine" in your home or business which means you don't have a duty to retreat from someone threatening you or your family. You also have a right to use deadly force against carjackers. Recently Florida expanded the castle doctrine to almost any place in public where you have a legal right to be. Florida does not allow "open carry" of weapons so any weapon on your person must be concealed. You can be ticketed if your gun is accidentally displayed. This is why most Floridians carry: For self defense and because they can.
