Nato Hacked, Anonymous Claims

www.washingtonpost.com

Hacker collective Anonymous posted on its Web site that it has taken a gigabyte of data from NATO.

On a Twitter feed believed to be run by the group, a Thursday morning message said that the hackers had obtained a lot of material that would be “irresponsible” to publish.

If this turns out to be true, well, they are escalating like hell!
Nato servers... Mmmmhhh That sounds delicious.... Although it is not clear what specific kind of info, it is claimed that it's on a "Restricted" level.....
If this is the direction Anonymous is taking, good for them, although I'm convinced it'll be pointless if the whole campaing is not accompanied by organization and "knowing.-each.-other", I don't share this modern idea that all we need is the internet, no, you need to MEET with your equals, SHARE what you'be lived and learnt and WALK togheter, the "anonymous" characterization makes it imposible to build a "real-life" movement... I hope, though, to be proven wrong....
We'll see what comes out...

NATO is many different countries and infrastructures. Exactly what part of NATO have they accessed and secondly I doubt very very much that they have anything useful because anything that is useful is on closed networks.

That is a very very good point, but it will for obvious reasons never come to that. They love the idea of anonymity...and why wouldnt they?

Karma's a bitch.

The US/Nato think they can stop these hacktivists by arresting a few of them who weren't smart enough to hide their IP.

Good luck with that.

From Twitter:

AnonymousIRC:
"NATO strongly condemns any leak of classified documents, which can potentially endanger the security of.." RLY. Guess what we did NOT leak?
AnonymousIRC:
Hi NATO. Yes we haz more of your delicious data. You wonder where from? No hints, your turn. You call it war; we laugh at your battleships.

Aaaand, the first page of the document released as evidence of the hack:

Lurkin, lurkin I go...

If this is more supposed names/addresses of nato servicemembers, meh, that's sealed the belief in my mind that they really do not have the peoples' interests in mind. I liked what they were doing initially, but this is the wrong direction to take. With a lot of the wikileaks stuff for instance, we could see the claim that it was "endagering the lives" of serving men/women as BS. That was the excuse the authorities were using to not only try to shut down 'wikileaks' but enforce a much wider crack down on the internet. With the recent news releases of top officials agreeing with a "separate internet" and more regulation, this is very suspicious.

Keep it to leaks of evidence of illegal activity/other wrongdoing of TPBP, guys. Not personal info that will take us in the opposite direction.

Hey you know those FBI raid Anonymous hacker threads posted recently and there's always a those people who say "YEAH ANONYMOUS IS GOING DOWN whoo hoo! party in my pants!" or "YEAH ANONYMOUS IS DEAD"

I guess they must feel pretty STUPID right now

Anonymous are the white knights. They're saving us all and doing something about the corruption and evil in this world.

While the ignorant and stupid continue to act like sheeps and bend over/slave to the NWO/Illuminati's biddings.
The so called awakened people who knows whats going on are too coward to do anything about it.

But, who said that the only ones that can "fight the power" are the hackers?
They can do this, and without doubt more, but what I mean is that the rest of the way IS UP TO US, the hacking-disabled to organize, to create movements in every one of our countries, cities, towns; To find collective solutions to both individual and collective problems; To learn to Cooperate instead of Compete and, above all, to learn WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS.
"Anonymous", Lulzsec and the rest of them can, maybe, ignite a spark, is up to us to "explode"...

WOW a Restricted classified document. They have really pulled a number there. Restricted means # all is on the document, not even any personal details because if it had it would be classified Classified.

Irresponsible to publish? Now they are concerned with responsibility? I smell fish. Dead, rotting fish.
Giving Anon's goal of being all corruption to light, well, That's just interesting if it's true. Very Interesting.

The feds are useless.

Look how they handled 9-11

Destroy all evidence and turn the people, its own citizens, into terrorists.

Lets all high five each other!

Go America!

I agree with what anon wants to do.
'But bragging about geting some restricted documents especialy some that have been around for a while. Is laughable.
I'll get excited when they get some 'Top secret" docs or hell i'll settle for just 'secret'

FYI:Top secret>secret>confidential>restricted ateast that what i remember form the top of my head.
Also restricted is so low that they don't have to b e shredded when tossed. sorta sad there so happy about this.

Maybe NATO let them in. Not unheard of chess can be a silly game for those not involved. You want to trap your enemy give them a weak spot and let them pour in. Just never know

I doubt it NATO's unrestricted networks are weak, then again nothing is stored on them worth reading anyway. Anything Confidential or above has to be on a different network and controlled, with the network being isolated from external internet. Not rocket science but effective when combined with encryption keys.

About the implication for people currently on military service:

It is a hard subject, as on one hand, the army is the visible face of the will of the Elite, they are in part responsible for the crimes they commit, either knowingly or unkn.. On the other hand, while part of the Army is nothing more than highly-trained murderers, I want to believe that there are still some that believe they are fighting for a good reason.
TO THIS PEOPLE we must direct our voice, we have to help them see that they are fighting for the wrong sides, and I don't doubt that when time comes, A LOT of soldiers are going to give Uncle sam the finger, as already happened many times in history. (Well, maybe not US history but human history nonetheless...)
And this people are the ones that must be made aware of the inner workings of those who "give orders"...

Just a thought.
