I have yet to see one person on this board who actually says "Yes, I believe the world will end on 2012" on here. All these posts on this forum mainly consist of people debunking theories that outsiders claim. Is it the shame or the fear of being persecuted for believing the world will end in 2012 that they can't say it directly, or is it that nobody here can say the world will end in 2012?

Of course, I can't say if the world will or will not end on 2012 because I'm no prophet or fortune teller. But is there anybody on this site that can say directly say the world [will or most likely] end on 2012?

The idea that "the world will end in 2012" has nothing to do with most 2012 theories. They are usually about some kind of spiritual "transformation" or an acceleration of complexity (like McKenna's novelty theory).

The idea that "2012 = end of the world" is a popular rip-off and crude simplification of the more esoteric ideas. The fact that nobody takes it seriously around here shows that those who are arguing about 2012 on ATS have enough knowledge to move beyond this cartoonish cliche.

nobody can say that the world will end in 2012 anymore than they can say it will end in 3012. its all a matter of opinion. the only thing you can do is look at the "evidence" compare it to your own personal beliefs and make your own interpretation.

personally, i don't think the world is going to end in 2012, nor do i think a comet/brown dwarf star or anything else is going to destroy the Earth. do i think its possible, sure...anything is possible. i just dont think its probable.

i do believe that the Earth, our solar system and our galaxy will, one day, be destroyed or so drastically changed that it will not be able to support life as we currently know it. and that's based on facts, because its true that some day the sun is going to run out of fuel and supernova...the Andromeda galaxy and the Milky Way are moving towards each other and will one day collide. this will destroy the galaxies and create a new galaxy. so we aren't going to be around forever. i just don't think its going to happen for a looooooooooooong time.

Maybe there are, I wouldn't be surprised.

I think it is some kind of evolution of consciousness and only (the world as we know it) will pass away and the new one will take it's place and we'll hardly feel a difference, except we'll be all....what happened to that crappy world we were in?

Our sun isn't massive enough to go Nova. It will become a red giant possibly reaching to Jupiter, and then eventually become a white dwarf.

The 'end of the world' could happen...with the way the economy, governments, health care, education is falling; and if we look at the biblical meaning of "world" which means "cosmos" or the "arrangement of things"; then i'd have to say Yes! Do i think the end of the 'world' is going to happen, as portrayed in the movie 2012? Well, let me just

I do believe, events could occur, that will make us "believe" the 'world' is coming to an end. I believe there could be MANY man-made 'natural' disasters that COULD happen. I believe it would be a GREAT opportunity to fulfill the Georgia Guidestones and usher in the official N.W.O.

Let's face it..."the world"/"system" is BROKE. Now, all they're trying to do, is scrape up the rest of the change, from the american people, before the final collapse. 2012 is a great opportunity to kill MANY birds with one stone:
Population Reduction
One World Government
Fresh Start

Heck, add project Blue Beam with a fake alien invasion and we could really have ourselves a party.

Yup. ATS is the place for those who want a 2012 event to come to this hellish planet. But for most of us, this big rock is fine and dandy. No one can predict the future. 2012 is just a good breeding ground for preachers and partiers alike.

Either the world has already ended... or I can't produce any more Serotonin in my brain.

I haven't done enough chemicals to create that effect, so I'm going with the end of the world now.

really? did not know that.
thanks for correcting me. i was under the impression that stars either supernova'd or collapsed into black holes.

I don't believe in it, mostly because of the idiots screaming 1000 different theories from left to right. There is no end of the world in 2012, I could go crazy, scream and run out into the street and get hit by a bus after I finish this post. Or a car could drive through my house while I'm downstairs and kill me.

So either way, my world is ending. World ends everyday for somebody.

The world will not end in 2012... and unless something unforseen occurs after that, Earth will continue to exist until our Sun swells up and engulfs the inner planets in about 5 billion years or so.

But, how we humans live on Earth will end soon enough.. maybe 2012, maybe not. Depends on how long it takes people to reach the end of their personal tether, how many more major earth events we see and how devastating WW3 will be.

Either way an end to how humans live here, through greed and control, with the Mindset of Might is Right, will be a positive for the humans who remain. Although like anything that is born to this world it will come only through some pain and hardship first.

I personally do not believe it will, and if it was no-one knows its coming.

The reason. Because the most powerful people in the world are still making post 2012 plans. And are not just partying their asses off. Why continue to work for global domination ?

It first started with nibiru which was originally predicted to collide with earth in may 2003 but it turned out to be a load of bull, so they used the mayan calender to completely change the date to dec 21 2012.

the mayan calender doesn't completely end on this date, it's just the end of a long-count period and another long-count will begin.
Each december the sun and earth are alligned with the approximate centre of our galaxy so there isnt an unusual galactic alignment on this date, neither will earths rotation reverse and a magnetic pole shift wont be felt by anyone when it happens in a few thousand years.

And as for the build up of the suns energy.
the sun's energy peaks every 11 years or so, the most that will happen is some solar flare activity that will maybe disrupt satalite comunications.

thats all i have on this, 2012 is nothing more than a good film.

Supernova and black holes are not the norm. Those types of endings are reserved for massive stars, not smaller stars such as our Sun.

Main Sequence

The behavior of a star now depends on its mass, with stars below 0.23 solar masses becoming white dwarfs directly, while stars with up to ten solar masses pass through a red giant stage.[3] More massive stars can explode as a supernova,[4] or collapse directly into a black hole.
